Instructors go on the field trips, which is kind of cool because students can be nurtured as they progress in their dance skills. The experience level of the dancers is low so DD isn't a very good bet for dancers who want to social dance beyond newbie level. Probably most people that start at DD quickly move on to other studios and venues once they get the basics down. The lessons are expensive compared to many studios who have comparable instructors.

My husband and I received a Groupon for Christmas for 2 thirty minute classes with a private instructor. When my husband called to reserve our class, the receptionist reccomended we take both 30 minute classes back to back for an hour long session which I thought was great. The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was very inviting. There were 2 group classes going on during our private lesson and even though the dance floor had lots of students, our instructor only focused on us. We didn't feel self-conscious at all. Hugo taught us the basics for 3 different types of dance. For every style he broke it down to us and was very thorough. He was super kind!
