My husband bought me a Groupon for here for Christmas for 3 lessons. We had our lessons with Nia. She is amazing and very knowledgable. She had us feeling more confident with dance after just the first lesson. She also makes it fun. We felt like we could actually dance in public after our third session (although there is still a lot of room for improvement). I am hoping to be able to continue lessons with her (just have to convince my hubby). I also love that this studio does group events such as group lessons and dance parties every week. read more

Wonderful teachers. They have a curriculum and exams by outside senior dance coaches. Just like the Royal Music of Music in England. The teachers are all dancers at the championship levels. read more

The staff at this location is beyond beautiful. We know that we can never be more than our leadership,so this speaks volumes of the team the owner Lisa has attracted. I've been a student for 3 months and I have smooth moves already! Thanks to Madison and Mason my husband and I have been growing closer and enjoying listening to new songs to dance to! Come and take an introductory class you will fall in love all over again with dance, with yourself, and with your partner! P.s. if you don't have a partner meet one at one of the great dance mixers on Thursday nights! read more

Fred Astaire Dance Studio - Come on we are waiting for you! - Dance Schools Near Me - Chandler, Arizona

It's hard for me to say "as good as it gets". This is my first dance studio. On the other hand I really don't have many complaints. They are a bit pricey. So far everything else has been really good. The instructors seem to know what they are doing given that they are making me able to dance after just two lessons. As I write this I've had four now and I'm actually not hopelessly bad. I can even do some basic things with competence! It's actually surprising how quickly the instructor progresses us. And he makes it fun, and is patient when we screw up. They have a beginner program of 5 lessons, and after that they have different levels you can enroll. Bronze is basically "social dancing" where you can dance at various social occasions doing multiple different steps depending on the music. We will have to decide soon if we are going to pursue that. Their top-tier program prepares a person for competitive dancing. Seems to be a good school. read more

Chandler FADS is a safe and fun environment with many styles of dance to learn from. YOU have the opportunity to pick what you'd like to learn. The staff are very welcoming, knowledgeable and encouraging. I highly recommend you take a chance if you've thought about wanting to dance! read more

The staff here is so friendly! They treat you like family and want what's best for you. Our instructor cracks us up literally all the time even when we don't get moves right the first time. Would highly recommend to go here even by yourself solo if you want to learn how to dance or with your partner as well. read more

The jig is up... I've been taking dance lessons. My fiancée and I walked in as newbies and have been waltzing out as better than your average two-steppers. Frustrated by our first dance studio experience, we looked all over Yelp trying to find a dance instructor who could give us some smooth dance moves for our upcoming wedding. We really didn't want to embarrass ourselves on the dance floor. Seeing the introductory offer from Fred Astaire, I booked us a lesson. Our instructor John quickly realized our deeper interest in ballroom dance, and we eventually put together a full wedding routine that integrated Rumba and Cha-Cha to our chosen music compilation (they even helped with the mixing!). The result was fantastic - we couldn't have been happier with our choreographed arrangement. From there, we've stuck with Fred Astaire, learning from our primary instructor Sean and occasionally Nance. Right now, we're signed on to the Bronze Program which lets you pick from a long list of dances (Swing, Waltz, Tango, Mambo/Salsa... just to name a few). The schedule is flexible and we go at least once a week. One of the best things about this place are all the opportunities for group classes, personal instruction on technique, and a Thursday practice party where you can tighten up your skills with instructors and other students. There's always a theme and a really fun, up-beat vibe. You can even perform at one of their stage exhibitions, doing anything from dancing a professionally choreographed routine to choosing a specific style. We've got one coming up in a few months! It seems like they're open to almost any age group, and singles are most definitely welcome. I've been really impressed by the professionalism and skill of every dance instructor who's stepped in the place. Used a chicken deal here for 3 private lessons. I was super impressed with John. He is a great instructor! The studio is a nice place to learn and the floors are in great shape. I would have loved to have gone more but at the prices quoted (without the chicken deal or living social deals). I just can't do it. not affordable. read more

I've been taking lessons at FADS Chandler for almost a year and I absolutely LOVE all the staff and instructors at the studio! Everyone is so encouraging and friendly, my fellow dancers are wonderful, and the atmosphere is always positive. I recently turned 50 and have wanted to ballroom dance since my college days, but it was never right--never the right partner, never the right time, never the right [fill in the blank]. After an unexpected and unwelcome divorce, I decided to finally pursue my dream--by myself, without a partner! My instructor, Alexis, and all the dance instructors, dance masters, and Lisa, the owner, have encouraged me to do things I never would have thought possible, then celebrated with me when I did! They have helped me to grow physically and emotionally, and I have a newfound sense of confidence not only in what I am physically capable of, but also my ability to achieve anything I set my mind to. I love that they meet me at my level, then challenge me to achieve the next. Dancing is fun and I enjoy it immensely, but even more I love the camaraderie and positive energy that I get from everyone here. I tell my kids that FADS Chandler is my HAPPY PLACE! I may arrive for a lesson in a not-so-great mood, but I always leave happy! read more

I can't say enough about this studio. My husband and I have been going to lessons here for the last year or so. They treat us like family! We love Lisa, the owner, as well as our plethora of instructors. We have different favorite instructors for the different dances we do. They take great care of us, and I cannot wait to perform our professionally choreographed dance at the Holiday showcase! read more

We worked with David to practice for our wedding song dance. I was very anxious and David was very patient and understanding. He took the time to work out any issues I had when trying to figure out what I was doing. I would definitely return once I'm done spending all this money towards the wedding. Only thing I wish was different was that it would get a little hit inside due to my anxiety so maybe just keeping it cooler would be nice. read more

I joined Fred Astaire in 2003 and went for as long as I could afford it.This dance studio is all about high pressure sales. I noticed that they really work on the lonely; widowers, divorcees, etc. They make you feel like you are part of their family and when you run out of money, drop you like a hot potato. I didn't even finish my last few lessons because of the hot/cold nonsense. Everything is very expensive and I know of other customers who went through their life savings just to stay a part of this group because they were lonely. It is very sad that people can earn their living taking advantage of others. The dance instructors are very talented so I gave one star. read more

If you are looking for a dance studio, you have to come here! Every single person here is so friendly and helpful! The instructors are amazing and so supportive every step of the way! After about 6 months of lessons, I think it is time I reviewed ol' Fred Astaire! The dance studio of course, not the dancer and actor. That guy would get 5 stars too though. My (then) fiancé and I started with the beginner package, which is 2-private lessons, a group lesson and a practice party. Our hope was to learn some basic dance moves so we wouldn't make fools of ourselves on the dance floor at our own wedding and possibly choreograph a number for our first dance. We had the songs picked out and an idea, we just needed an expert to help us put it together and learn how to move our feet. We almost immediately upgraded our beginner package to the Social Foundation package, which teaches the basics of 4 different social dances. We started learning rumba and cha-cha (necessary for our wedding routine), AZ two-step, and swing. The wedding dance turned out *perfect* and we had such a great time learning it. Fast forward 4 months and we're still dancing! We're now in the middle of our bronze program, learning 8 different ballroom styles. We go about once a week, and I always look forward to our lesson. There are so many benefits to learning how to dance, not the least of which is having a timeless hobby with my new husband. A few special shout-outs to Josh for cutting our wedding music together, Jon for getting us started, Nance for being a super-cool 2nd teacher and most of all, Sean for being such a great instructor and making each lesson so much fun. read more

Great experience. My fiance' and I purchased a deal for some private and group lessons so we could dance at our wedding. We went in very apprehensive and beyond intimidated. Despite the fact that beginner doesn't even begin to describe our skill level, we very quickly felt right at home. Every single staff member told us hello and welcomed us, we loved that. Even the students seemed to be super welcoming. Our instructor Tia was amazing! She broke down everything for us, and was very pleasant and warm. I highly recommend taking a class, there is so much they offer and it was a TON of fun. read more

This is a wonderful place to take dance lessons. My Fiance and I purchased the groupon for our upcoming wedding, well with only a week before the wedding they work us into the schedule. The teacher was great to work with and taught us the right dance steps to our song we wanted to dance with. We will be going back for more. Thanks!!! read more

My finance and I bought a Groupon and did two dance lessons with Oliver and he was THE BEST. So patient with a great sense of humor. We wanted to learn some basic moves for our first dance at our wedding and couldn't be happier. I felt comfortable with him and would recommend him highly!! I even referred him to my dad and step mom. My dad was super reluctant (meaning he totally hated the idea but did it anyway) and absolutely loved it too!! read more

This place is magical! The staff is first class. They make you feel right at home. The dance is exciting and the instructors ease you in no matter what your level. I first came to the studio as a guest for a halloween costume party. I fell in love with it and the adorable staff. I then did a 3 class trial. It was a blast. Unfortunately I didn't get to finish my whole trial. I live in north Phoenix and it was too much of a drive. If I lived in the area I'd definitely take more classes. Great for couples getting married. You're sure to impress on the dance floor. I believe it would also be a great date idea to try a group or private class! read more

As my daughter stated in her review..excellent experience. Oliver was great. Taught us enough to feel confident but we need to practice. Of course they want you to buy more lessons but ZERO pressure. Oliver is funny, talented and patient. Perfect instructions for beginners. We'll be back to learn and do some dancing on the weekends. read more

We had two lessons with Bo before our wedding day. Not only was it fun but we were able to get the basics we needed to craft the perfect first dance! Bo is so thoughtful, kind, and encouraging. It was just what we needed. Highly recommend! read more

My 18-year-old daughter and I love to dance. I'm just not very good at it. We tried one other studio last year and learned more about swing. We thought we'd try something new this year and picked out Fred Astaire studios for their yelp presence. Steven our instructor was engaging and detail oriented. I don't just want an instructor who shows me the move, I want correction so I can get the style as well. Steven was all that. We're continuing our lessons there. read more

My Fiancé and I wanted to take lessons prior to our wedding but now that we have only taken 3 lessons we are hooked. Steven (instructor) is so great. Not only does he know his dance, he cares and is so patient. He is going to make dancers of us for life. We enjoy doing this together and realize it removes us from our crazy world to really have some FUN! Thank you Steven! read more

My fiancé and I wanted to learn a few basic steps for our first dance. We were lucky enough to have Oliver as our instructor. He was the best. He was very patient and had a great down to earth way of explaining dance terms. He made us feel comfortable and competent even when our moves were a little rocky. Definitely ask for him if you go here! read more

If you're looking for a place to learn how to dance, I sure hope you live near the chandler location of Fred Astaire Dance Studio. I started back in October to get ready for a friend's wedding and quickly became addicted to how great this place makes me feel. Don't wait! Don't fear! The instructors here will make learning ballroom dance so much fun you'll wish you could quit work, put up a cot in the corner and live there (not allowed, by the way -- I've looked into it). You'll make amazing friends (because everybody that walks through those doors is bound to be as fun loving and up for new adventures as you are, right?!) and you'll receive the best instruction available anywhere. This franchise has been around long enough to have already worked out the smoothest ways to move you from step right-together-left to gold level competition ballroom. Or as far as you want to go. As soon as you start, you'll proabably realize, as I did, that that's farther than you thought possible! And, guys, please go here and get a clue -- men who know how to lead are hot hot hot. No buts at all. This place and the people in it deserve all five stars. P.S. the Mesa Fred Astaire location is owned by the same lovely lady. She has a knack for picking excellent instructors, so if you aren't close enough to Chandler, give Mesa a try. read more

We went here for dance lessons before our wedding and we loved it! At first we were not sure we were going to like taking dance classes but we did not want to look silly during our first dance in front of all of those people. We were able to dance in front of a group here on the open dance night after we learned our dance and it really prepared us. The dance at the wedding was perfect and we will continue with dance classes in the near future. read more

Professional, knowledgeable, and fun! Three of the many positive adjectives that describe the ownership and staff at Fred Astaire in Chandler. I am a newcomer to dancing, but they immediately made me feel comfortable in a distinctly different setting from my professional and personal life to date. I made the leap and took a few lessons and due in large part to the Fred Astaire staff and methodology of teaching, I am hooked and can say I am as passionate about learning more about dancing with my instructor than as any pursuit I have undertaken. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to have fun, socialize, get some exercise, and learn something new! read more

This is a great place to start learning. My two teenagers wanted to learn basic dance steps, and the owner personally called me to make sure that she paired my kids with teachers they would feel comfortable with.
