I love trying non-chain coffee shops but to save you the long preamble- I'd skip this one. First off, to set the vibe, there old men smoking outside next to the posted no smoking signs. The inside is small and kind of feels like grandmas old musty living room with knickknacks lining the walls. Got the Armenian coffee, the small is $5 and smells exactly like ground coffee beans would, nice and strong, no complaints. Croissant with ham and cheese $8 which is way overpriced (Porto's charges $5.95 and their croissants are FRESH). Overall I'd skip this place unless you want the nostalgia factor. read more

I was never go to this cafe again. I was in this "cafe". The whole cafe is run by one person, and because of that everything is brought very late. We waited 40 minutes. Had their cappuccino and it was honestly one of the best cappuccino's I've ever had. Love the sparkling water they had (Jermuk) was in a glass bottle. The lady was nice enough to bring me glass bottles with lemon and it really hit the spot. It's these little things that would bring me back not to mention recommend the place to friends and family. Express Coffee has been around for so many years, and for a good reason...their quality is amazing and always top notch, and their service is outstanding. It's been my family's favorite place to go to throughout the years. To start off, their gluten free pizzas are absolutely delicious! It's always a go-to favorite of mine, but every item on their menu is superb as well as their variety of delicious beverages from coffee to tea lattes that are way better than your typical Starbucks. The staff has always been very friendly, and the restaurant is always super clean and welcoming. I will continue to be a regular here for many more years to come. First time. Last time. First there is nothing express about this place. Second their sandwiches are very expensive, almost $9 for a turkey sandwich that comes with nothing on the side. I asked for turkey with cheese, lettuce and tomato ONLY. Waited about 10 minutes for my food even though I was the only order and there were only 2 people there who already had their orders. I got home and there was mayo and mustard on my sandwich. Normally I'd toss it but for $9 I wasn't about to. Drive back up and told him I said only lettuce, tomato, and cheese and there was mayo and mustard. He said oh thought that was ok. I said no, I literally meant ONLY. He remakes my sandwich and boxed it. Turns to me and asked "did you want tomato?" Yes! He cut some up and added it after the fact. Are you kidding me??? This is not rocket science. He was nice and apologetic but I will never be back. Nothing special about a plain turkey sandwich with not even a handful of chips for that price. read more

Coffee Express Glendale's this shoppe I pass all the time. I thought it was a diner. I found out right now that it's not... However, the carry breakfast, lunch, baked goodies, coffee and juices. It has a nice ambiance with jazz grooves. Plastic utensils and stoneware. Croissant with ham-egg-cheese cost a buck less than egg-cheese. Friendly service. read more

You come for the outside seating area, shaded by thin faded green and beige blinds, permitting thin streaks of light across the tables. You come because even though there's a "No Smoking" sign, everyone smokes anyways. You come because it's slow and simple - no yoga pants, no third wave opulence, no need to Instagram. I imagine this place survives because of locals who Hang out there. It certainly wouldn't be for the food or service. Baked goods are literally Costco muffins and wrapped Nemos like you get at 7/11. Tip: CHECK YOUR CHANGE. I wasn't paying attention and was shorted $5 and ended up paying $9 for a blueberry muffin I asked her to heat up for me when I took it out of the bag in the car I realise it's not very hot in fact a little bit cold bit into it and it was frozen in the centre. Great spot for refreshments and for Armenian coffee. I don't know why people say it's expensive, it is not! Their coffee is very good but i like their fresh watermelon juice. This review contemplates only juice/shake orders. You're on your own for the coffee, breakfast, etc. It looks like they also have Costco-style muffins, cakes, and cookies at reasonable prices. I stopped by Coffee Express after jogging by it the day before, thinking it would be a good place for my fiancee to study for the Bar. The place was dead, with one other patron inside and two smoking outdoors. There was easy parking (a 30 minute curb and some untimed spots), but in the morning it might be trickier. Decor was really nice, and I appreciate the miniature Beethoven statue in the corner (look for it or you'll miss it). The proprietress answered my questions and took my order, but because she was the only person actively working at the time, she had to assist the customers outside. It took about 8 minutes to make a Combo juice (orange and apple) and a banana shake. A little slow considering the place was empty. The husband (I presume) was around, but not really doing much work. The banana shake tasted very familiar. Then I realized that I made this shake. Well, not exactly. What I mean to say is that I could taste all the ingredients I use when I attempt to make a banana shake myself: bananas, milk, ice. It cost 4.95. Delicious, but I don't have to go out to get this flavor. The juice was warm. It was the weirdest thing. I had to toss it in a mug with ice when I got home to salvage it, and even then, it felt a little watered down (independent of the ice, I'm not stupid). So, while I can't comment on many of the reasons to visit Coffee Express (namely, the coffee), I can unfavorably compare it to other juice places. Stick to what works for this place and leave your juice needs to someone else. P.S. This restaurant passes the "Brother, can you spare a dime?" test. In other words, if 9 cents are owed to you in change, they'll give you a dime to save in hassle. read more
