I called him back from my dr's office and apologized and said I will swing by on my way home. When I got there, he had it ready and waiting for me. When I took out my money, he said "no charge". I threw a fin in the tip jar and said "I truly thank you and wish you a happy new year". This is a family owned business and I remembered back 10 years ago when my sister was dying from breast cancer. I wore pink in my hair and every time I stopped into Emerson cleaners, the owner would ask me how my sister was doing and that I touched him with my story about the pink hair. I believe that gentleman was the current owner's father. If so, what a wonderful legacy. If not, still the best place in town to take your business. When I called to ask about this, I was told that it's "normal" for the hem to fall out after some time and that I needed to be more careful with handling the garment. I did not mishandle the garment beyond standard wear by any means. I was also told I'd need to pay again to have them re-hemmed (they did offer a discount). I took the garment back to be re-hemmed at a discount, only for the stitch to fall out again a few months later. I will not be bringing any items back here to be tailored. I expected professional work that lasts -- instead, I got a hem that failed almost immediately and a response that did not take any accountability. Not what I would expect for basic alterations.
