I Got this through personal recommendation to clean and preserve my wedding dress and veil. Took 6 wks (which is ok since I was told that in advance). The silk liner color changed from rose petal pink to champagne (light brown) and lace from ivory to white. The liner also shrunk and now has a 6" shorter than the lace. I took it back and opened the box at the shop. The owner insisted that in all the years it never happened before (well this would be the first then). He asked for a swatch of original dress as he said the color from the photos are not always accurate (which I agreed). So I'm getting that mailed from the designer. I included the photo of the dress next to the veil to show that the lace color has dramatically changed. The length of the liner as much shorter (that photo was backlit so it looked pink). 2 other photos came from the wedding day in day light to show color and length. I rarely write reviews but I am very upset with my experience here. I took a brand new dress here for a wedding that was wrinkled and when I went to put it on (the day of the wedding) there were stains all over it. I had to scramble to find a new dress. When I brought it back in, they wouldn't reimburse me for the dress, only $15 for the service and made me feel uncomfortable for even asking for reimbursement. Do not recommend read more

I'm not one to post on Yelp other than when I get exceptional or horrific service. Consider this the former. This morning I was running late and had to get my husbands tuxedo shirt pressed. I was going to drop it off but without even hesitating, the owner started pressing it immediately. Unfortunately, I was unable to wait the 3 minutes or so (shame on me) so I had to leave and forgot to leave my phone number or name. I called him back from my dr's office and apologized and said I will swing by on my way home. When I got there, he had it ready and waiting for me. When I took out my money, he said "no charge". I threw a fin in the tip jar and said "I truly thank you and wish you a happy new year". This is a family owned business and I remembered back 10 years ago when my sister was dying from breast cancer. I wore pink in my hair and every time I stopped into Emerson cleaners, the owner would ask me how my sister was doing and that I touched him with my story about the pink hair. I believe that gentleman was the current owner's father. If so, what a wonderful legacy. If not, still the best place in town to take your business. Great dry cleaner with excellent customer service. Be warned! You can only pay in cash. Hours are very early to around 5pm. They let you bring your dog in! They have their dog there sometimes too. I had a pair of jeans hemmed and they did a great job. You have to pay for good quality! read more

My only knock is that they didn't call me when the jacket was done. Took my down jacket there after a rip in the material holding zipper was getting worse and worse. Asked for a cleaning, as well. I was happy that they let me have the option of choosing a less costly fix. Basically they told me that they can order a more expensive zipper, like the one that matched my jacket, or they could just use whatever they had in stock, which may not be matching color. I really appreciated this and went with the cheaper option. The zipper is great. They had to make some tweaks to the actual jacket, but I am fine with that (the removed the top button). If you are picky with your high end clothes, then be sure to talk with them about that first. They also cleaned the jacket. They did forget to close a rip in the pocket. A cleaning and fixed zipper on a Michael Kors jacket for $65. Not bad! read more

It's true, they are expensive, but they've never lost or ruined my clothes. In fact, they've actually fixed some things I thought were hopelessly stained, torn, etc. The staff is really friendly and they offer a variety of services including alterations and storage. One thing that is a little weird is that they ask you when you want to pick up your stuff. I've always wondered if the price changes based on your answer. I'm still not sure. *Update, the price is the same if you want your clothes the next day or in a week. I guess I should have just asked. Was looking around for a place to clean my Gucci suede bag and saw some reviews about Emerson and good ones so I decided to call them up. I spoke to Mike and he explained to me what they do and how they clean luxury bags... when I got my bag back it looked as though they cleaned it like the way they clean Uggs! The color had bled and there was no more shape to my bag...I was soooo upset because this is a 1200$ bag not just some cheap bag u buy at Jc penny's. After expressing my concern about how my bag came back, Mike sent the bag back for "further" cleaning.. got it back and it looked the same. At this point there was nothing else I could do but to take a loss because I didn't do my research about luxury hand bag cleaning. It cost me 43$ and the company didn't even ask me if hey could reimburse me seeing as tho it was CLEAR the bag came back pretty much worse then I gave it. I've lived in Southie a year and don't have things regularly dry cleaned. So it is either a treat or extremely necessary, like my dog peeing on my roommate's bed spread. Finding a new service provider after moving is very frustrating. I live on the West side and THIS is my dry cleaner on the East side! Incredibly nice people. I originally found them looking for a place to clean my sheepskin rug. After calling another place on Broadway and getting a quote of $100, I continued shopping. Emerson was my next call and my last, it was $30 to $50 for a large sheepskin rug. Because of that I've been able to service the rug multiple times. Sheepskin is a tough material and very high maintenance. Big or small these guys can handle it well. I will go to them for anything in the future!! Love Emersons!! read more

Love this place! The staff is so friendly and extremely gracious for your business. I have had a number of items tailored and drycleaned here and I've always been very pleased. Their pricing for dry cleaning is competitive but I think their tailoring prices are a steal! A pair of pants hemmed and a dress taken in (needed to rip out and replace the zipper to take in) for $35=AMAZING!!! Their turnaround time is awesome too. Again, Emerson Cleaners has exceeded my expectations! Aside from the exceptional dry cleaning services they regularly provide, I want to share two stories: First, they laundered a family baptismal gown that is approximately 100 years old. I received it from my inlaws on a Wednesday and the baptism was on Saturday. The gown reeked and I couldn't bear the thought of my baby wearing that musty smelling thing so I brought it to Emerson's that Wednesday. By Friday afternoon, it was laundered and pressed, and looked beautiful. I also asked them to launder a knitted baby outfit that was in the same garment bag as the gown and that smelled even worse than the gown as it had milk/formula stains around the collar (that had sat for about 13 years). That too came out perfect and looked like new. I also had the gown preserved. Emerson estimated that it would take approximate 6-8 weeks to do but they had it done within 1-2 weeks! Second, I recently brought in some pieces of white clothing that appeared dingy and yellow. One piece actually had a brown stain on it. Emerson applied a special treatment that made the pieces look white and fresh again AND the nasty brown stain was gone! I am thrilled because I almost junked these articles of clothing because they looked so worn. Wish I had taken a picture of what these clothes looked like so that I could have posted the "before and after" pics. read more

Are they slightly more expensive than an average dry cleaners? Check Dothey close a little early during the week? Check. Is it annoying they only accept cash? Check But who cares? They are by far the best cleaners I have ever been to. Not even close. Never returned a shirt with a stain on it, unlike every other cleaner I have tried. Never lost a shirt either. The owner is a chemist and there is practically no stain he cannot remove. His only rule is DON'T try to remove the stain yourself...don't apply water, soda water, spot remover or anything.
