The damage was a scrape on the bumper -- all told from end to end, maybe 4 or 5 inches. The Collison Center's repair estimate was more than $6,000. In reviewing the estimate there was a charge of $1152 for "mechanical labor." I asked to what that related. I was told it was for a complete mechanical check of the car including the electrical system. Total nonsense! There was a scrape on a bumper. When I said that I did not want the mechanical check of the car as it was completely unnecessary, I was told that it was a requirement. I handed the estimate back and left. A total ripoff.

After seeing all the yelp reviews for Safford we decided to give these guys a shot and they didn't disappoint. I took it in for an initial inspection and they told me fair and square what they were going to do without any gripes. They set me up with a rental car which was already waiting for me. They worked with our insurance company every step of the way. They emailed me status updates every morning. And they had everything completed on time. They even worked with me to replace some aftermarket parts and custom upgrades at no additional charge. It was all quite painless really. We asked for a shorter time since it was my daughter's spring break. At first they said it was ok but then they changed their mind. They insisted on a minimum of three weeks. I think that they run a racket on the tesla loaners and charge the insurance with luxury rentals. Their main focus was to secure as much money they could procure for themselves ignoring all the requests of the customers. In total they took around $12,000 for a repair of less than $2000 for an average paint shop. (they tell everyone a minimum of three weeks!)

They gave me a repair estimate of $17,335.18 on October 15, which seemed reasonable, and I assumed work was being done. For over two months, I waited with no updates. Suddenly, on December 5, they emailed demanding the loaner back immediately and threatened a police report for "failure to return a rental vehicle." I called their rep (Alfonso), who said he would extend the loaner--he never followed up. That evening, the loaner was remotely disabled (Valet Mode) while I was driving, stranding me overnight in 20°F snowy/rainy weather on a busy DC street. I had to pay for towing myself to avoid freezing. The next morning (December 6), they called police (Rockville and Prince George's County), claiming I failed to return the rental. They also told officers my Florida license was "fake" or fraudulent. Police cleared me immediately. I repeatedly explained my disabilities (immune-compromised, OCD, ADHD, anxiety) and asked for accommodations to get my medication and belongings from the loaner (less than ¼ mile away at a friend's house). They refused and left me stranded without transportation or meds ever since. Now they demand over $14,000 in storage/rental fees--almost as much as the repair estimate--yet no work was ever done on my car. I have video, emails, bills, and records. This was unsafe, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Avoid if you value safety and clear communication.
