Luckily, my score was 0 (perfect) five years ago, and it was time for a recheck. This time, I was referred to Imaging Partners in Orange. I called to schedule an appointment and Elyssa was so friendly and helpful. They had a cancellation and were able to book me only two days out. She took all of my prerequisite information quickly and sent me a link to complete some paperwork online ahead of time. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment and was impressed by their very modern and clean facility. Check-in was a breeze since I completed the forms online ahead of time. I only waited about five minutes and was called back. My tech Khan was very friendly and made everything a breeze. I laid on the bed feet first and he put a few heart electrodes on my chest. The bed raises and slides you into the center of the CT machine. It was not claustrophobic at all, and the CT machine spinning made very little noise. An automated voice instructs you to hold your breath twice for about five seconds, and then again twice for about 15 seconds as the bed slowly moves back and forth through the ring taking images. The process only took about five minutes, and I was in and out of the office in about fifteen minutes. I took the test on a Friday afternoon and the results will be sent to my doctor and posted in their online portal for me to view on Monday. Insurance usually doesn't cover this test, and the cash price was only $200. I had a great experience here, and will look forward to coming back in five years.

The latest cancellation came at the last minute, with staff telling me the radiologist had an emergency. My doctor was then given a different explanation: the machine was missing a coil and they were waiting for a part. These conflicting explanations have left me with very little confidence in their communication. Worse, I was told I had to rebook the appointment myself, and the next available appointment was three months away. Why is a patient whose biopsy has been cancelled twice by the facility sent to the back of the line? It has already been almost six months since my original referral without a biopsy. By the next available appointment, it will be almost eight months since I initially scheduled. This is a breast biopsy--not a routine appointment that can simply be pushed back repeatedly without concern for the patient waiting for answers. I understand that emergencies and equipment problems happen. What I cannot accept is being left to start the scheduling process over myself, with another three-month delay and no meaningful help securing an earlier appointment. Despite having PPO insurance, I am now considering paying out of pocket elsewhere just to get this done. The anxiety, frustration, and loss of trust this has caused are enormous. Patients awaiting a breast biopsy deserve clear communication, urgency, and support. My experience here has fallen far short of that.

This is more than disappointing. It is simply frustrating and appalling to me.
