Edit- shortly after posting the review, I was finally contacted by someone at Expert. They have promised to fix all issues listed in the review. If/when this happens, the review will be updated according. We hired them to inspect our furnace. After the tech left, it seemed to be making more noise and we had to pay another service fee to have another tech out to add a part to the boiler. For some insane reason, we called them again to inspect our high velocity air ducts. We made it very clear that was the purpose of the service call. The tech came out, cleaned the condenser, said he couldn't get to the lines. (Weird since our home inspector got into the attic just fine and said our lines were leaking air into the attic- hence the reason for the call). I called the office to find out why and was promised a return call by the service manager. It never came so I called him back two weeks later. He promised another tech would come out- never happened, no calls. I wrote an email asking for a refund and sending photos of damage their tech did to our attic entrance. Still noresponse. This company clearly does shoddy work and does not care about their customers. We will never do business with them again. read more

Our hot water tank malfunctioned on Sunday, a representative was out Monday and we scheduled a tankless hot water supply system in by Wednesday. Mike and Gino called and came early Wednesday morning to begin installation. These employees were extremely competent, efficient, and friendly. They rerouted duct work, installed vents through the brick basement wall and repiped both gas and water systems as well as installing electrical outlets for the system. All debris and the old water tank was taken out and the floors were swept clean. This was a professional team and if they are indicative of the company personnel, they will be extremely successful. I called Expert Heating and Cooling for routine maintenance on my steam boiler system. Expert installed it in 2011. Their tech, Ryan, came to my house and he was great--friendly and professional. There was sludge in the bottom of the boiler (which Ryan said is normal) so he flushed that from the boiler. He also fixed a leak. Then he told me how boilers work and how everything has to be in balance to work properly. I didn't know anything about boilers until Ryan explained everything. I asked if there's a voice-activated thermostat that's compatible with my boiler and Alexa, and Ryan knew right away which thermostat is compatible with my boiler's wiring. He also checked my Honeywell thermostat, and then checked all the radiators in my house to make sure they were heating properly. Some of the radiators had never heated well before today, and I've been in this house 26 years. I'm happy that my heating system is all set for winter. I'm very happy with the maintenance service from Ryan! He was great--he took his time explaining everything he did and the price was VERY fair. I'll be calling Expert again soon and requesting that Expert send Ryan back to my house to install the voice-activated thermostat. Not all angels have Wings. If I could give Expert a million stars I would. They saved the day! On the morning of December 26 our furnace went out, it was also 9 degrees out. The house temp was dropping quickly and I called two other places and they gave me a run around. A family friend recommended Expert so I gave them a call. Not only did they not give me a run around, they had someone out a few hours later. The tech who came out was awesome. Very friendly, and very honest. Told me the motor was shot and would cost $700 but also showed me some other issues with the furnace. Said basically, we can put the $700 motor in but more than likely this furnace will be shot within a year and it would be a waste of $700. I had already figured we needed a new one, he got the salesman on the phone and we had an appointment set for the next day. The salesman came out around noon. Very friendly, and honest and not pushy. I decided to do the whole deal - furnace, AC, and humidifier gave me a price which I thought was very fair for all three things. Appointment scheduled for next day for furnace and AC the day after. Even left me three heaters to use until the furnace was installed! Awesome. The furnace install guys arrived on time and like the other two gentlemen I had dealt with were very professional and friendly. Furnace was done in about 5.5 hours and House was warming up quickly. The last day (AC install day) another great experience. The guys even replaced the outlet on my garage!!!! Just because!!!! I was very impressed with their professionalism and the amount of care they showed in their job. They showed me what I needed to do maintain the units and very in depth in those explanations. To summarize: 1. They saved the day and we're the only ones who made it point to come out same day to look at furnace and get the process started 2. Everything they did and every person I dealt with was extremely professional. 3. The employees took pride in their work and it showed 4. Every part about Expert was first class I highly recommend these guys to everyone! You will not be disappointed, if you are - you probably complain about everything anyway and there is no chance to make you happy anyway. We had our home boiler replaced 2 years ago. It was high efficiency and around $11,000. Last year it stopped working and they came out to fix it. It was a Friday night and they didn't get the part until Tuesday. They at least seemed to care we were without proper heat for 4 days so I accept that things happen and we waited and moved on. This morning I wake up to a freezing cold house. I call the on call service. The tech calls me back and and tells me if I want them to come out I will have to pay $180 per hour service fee. I was so surprised because the boiler is under warranty and asked to have someone call me back. I received a call back from Harley. He said that is the way it works. He was completely uncaring and unapologetic. I was never told that if my brand new boiler broke the warranty only is valid during the week. I have two small children and it's very cold. They did not even offer space heaters so I will be purchasing them myself. This is so disappointing, I absolutely would not recommend them after this and I am sorry that I chose to spend my money there. Huge mistake. read more

I live in AZ but my older sister lives alone in Trenton MI. She is recently widowed and called me to explained that her AC has been out while the temperatures have been in the 90's with high humidity. I advised I would make a phone call to see if I could get someone to assist her. I reached out to Expert Heating & Cooling and spoke with the owner Mark A. He was FANTASTIC! While this was a busy time for all HVAC companies, he said that he would get someone out to her home the next day. This was over the July 4th weekend. I called my sister back and advised that I have a company that can come out. She said she was going through her prior paperwork and said "No thanks, I only use Expert Heating & Cooling". I said that this was a coincidence because that is who I called. Mark made it a priority to do a temporary fix on my sisters AC until a new one could be ordered. My sisters home was cooled off immediately and a new AC unit installed. I highly recommend Expert for their professionalism, attentiveness to their customers needs and fair pricing. read more

They messed up my furnance. Tried to get me to replace it for $12k. Brought someone else in for $300. Tried talking with owner but very defensive. Wouldn't listen to what happened. Poor customer service on owner's part. Please, for your wallet, go someplace else. I will say service people very courteous, owner way out of line. read more

Have had the opportunity to work with several heating and cooling companies over the last 10 years in 3 different homes. However this will be the only company I will work with going forward, had a unique situation. Furnace went out on the coldest day in December, that same day a Sunday, they came out supplied electric heaters, the next day had a furnace rough installed and had heat. They completed the finishing touches that week. Had the pleasure of working with the entire team, never met a more honest and customer centric group of individuals in one place. You guys have my business. I'll be calling you in the spring for the AC. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I had scheduled a furnace tune-up for yesterday at 3:30. The service technician called me at 2:30 to ask if he could come early, which was nice. The tech's name was Dieter and he was nice and professional. He cleaned my furnace up nicely and didn't try to sell me anything besides politely suggesting their modestly priced annual service package and a replacement humidifier pad. My pad was a decade old and moldy (whoops). He also mentioned that my inducer motor was a little rattly but was still functioning fine. He offered to replace it for a few hundred dollars but I declined. My only complaint would be that I asked him about the DTE $50 rebate for furnace tune-ups and he didn't know anything about it. Then afterward DTE told me I need to have paperwork filled out by the tech specifically for this rebate. I would say this wasn't the individual tech's fault. Maybe I needed to mention this when I called to schedule. Still, they are on DTE's list of approved contractors for this rebate and the DTE website lists how many DTE rebates have been given through this company. The rebate thing is a bummer but I would still totally recommend Expert Heating and Cooling. The tech did his job, was polite, and most importantly seemed honest and didn't try to sell me expensive, unnecessary repairs. read more

Called and they were able to get someone out that day. Diagnosed the problem and quickly called back to schedule a followup appointment once the needed parts came in. Our furnace was installed by someone else but they happily performed all the Warranty work and the labor rates seemed reasonable. Oscar (our tech for both appointments) was very friendly in helping me understand the problem, how it happened and how to avoid it in the future. We had a power outage in our home. When the power was restored, unfortunately our boiler did not work properly and our house was extremely cold. We called around and found Expert Heating & Cooling. They were the second company to come out. The first one said our pipes were frozen. Expert found the correct issue and repaired it. I would give the company 5-stars for this visit, but things went downhill from here. The technician that came out seemed very knowledgable and recommended we winterize our water lines for the boiler to prevent the pipes from freezing. He stated he would come out the following weekend at 8:30am. My husband also arranged for Expert to come out and provide a quote for other heating options. We debated switcing over to a furnace or perhaps replace the existing boiler with one more energy efficient. The saleman honored the appointment, but the technician never called or showed up. My husband called Expert and they said we were on his schedule. Arrangements were made for him to come out the following weekend. That weekend was a no call, no show as well. My husband called him directly and he said he would arrive in the next 30-minutes. No call / no show. We did not like having our time wasted. We also didn't understand why this technician was giving us the run around. In addition, we never received the quote from the person in sales. He promised it by the next day. It's been two weeks now and nothing. Needless to say, we're going to take our business elsewhere. read more

I tried setting up a service call and they wanted to charge me $89 just to tell me what's wrong with my furnace. This was during normal business hours in a non-emergency situation. And I'm not a rocket scientist, but I think I can tell where the noise is coming from. I won't be calling them again. read more

They replaced a part in December 2017, little more than a year later the part breaks. Year warranty for parts and year warranty for labor. Told them the job was easy to do, took less than 5 minutes. They charged over 400 dollars and barely made it a year, really 4-6 months being a furnace part. They refused too did anything. I'll never do business with them again. read more

Oct 31 2012. Stay away from this company. I had them come out to check my furnace that stopped working. Service tech came out and said I needed a new furnace. Had another company come out and they fixed my furnace for $177. Expert wanted to charge me $2800 for a new furnace that I didn't need. read more

5 STARS for EXPERT 1 STAR for CARRIER UNIT - the Furnace and AC Unit are both noisier than our old ones (not sure about energy efficiency yet but it seems that the new Carrier unit runs longer than the old replaced unit). Expert came out a handful of times and were very professional and helpful as we tried to determine and fix the excessive noises that were being sent throughout the home caused by our new Carrier system (AC 24ACB3 & Furnance 59SP5). 1. Expert replaced part of the factory AC line with a suction line at the unit which is an eyesore and looks ugly, it did quiet it down quite a bit (if we had not complained about the excessively loud noise we would've been stuck). 2. The new Carrier thermostat made a loud annoying click that everyone in the living room could hear each time the unit turned on and each time it turned off (our old replaced thermostat was quiet) - the new one was unacceptable. Again, Expert came out and was very professional and replaced it with one that doesn't make a loud click. 3. Excessive / continuous blower whistle or howl coming from the brand new furnace. This whistle permeates through the entire house and you can hear it at every vent - it's very annoying, my wife said it gives her a headache. Both Expert and Carrier came out to the house and replaced the blower - - the whistle from the blower still existed. Carrier said that this is the way the new blower sounds and that we would have to get used to it - (there is NO getting used to it so far). Carrier also mentioned that it's possible we could try an older generation blower but we would lose some of the energy efficiencies that we gain on the new one. Carrier also mentioned that they could insulate some of our ducts near the furnace (but I doubt that would help since the whistle sound permeates through the entire house). So, in short: we were very very impressed with Experts professionalism and customer care. We are very disappointed with the Carrier products we received and we have to live with a constant whistle each time the blower turns on. read more

The two gentlemen that came out to do the work were professional and courteous. The work done was top notch and they cleaned up spic and span. The price for the work was as competitive as any other estimate we received. Ken, the estimator, is thorough and precise in helping figure out just what you need. Doesn't try to "upsell" you things that you don't want/need. First off it ended up taking up 2 whole days to do a service and then the air did not work after it was all said and done. Then all week I thought i was smelling gas and one day I finally called and had them come back out. They bumped a gas line and there was gass leaking and blowing through out our house all week. Also they were Very rude about getting their money. We had to split the payment up into 2 months,. We paid them one payment of $2500 and they called and bitched... literally bitched my husband out and told him "this is not pay as you go" So, they can come repo it for all I care. They will be getting the other 2500 when I feel like getting it to them. Nothing was ever said to make a whole payment at once. SORRY EXPERT HEATING AND COOLING! You are very RUDE read more
