Seven years ago, I bought an AC unit from this company, A month ago I bought a furnace from this company, This past Saturday my AC stopped working and I called them for an emergency visit and they ghosted me. I called them Sunday and said just come on out Monday so I don't have to pay the Weekend service fee. They came out Monday found that I needed a capacitor. It took him 10 minutes to diagnose and fix it. Then he checked something on my furnace and change the filter that I already had. They said it was a 45 minute visit which I don't believe it was that long and they charged me $500. I can understand the service fee and the diagnosing but they charged me $215 for the capacitor. Which you can buy at Lowe's for $15. And I even called a couple of heating and cooling businesses in the area and they quoted me around $40 for the part. I'm not sure if it was because I was a woman or if this is how they treat all of their loyal customers or both. My brother-in-law who is an HVAC guy is the one that told me I got robbed. So I called them just to find out if there was some kind of a mistake and the lady said I don't know. I don't have the invoice yet. I'll call you back. Never heard from them They've lost a loyal customer. I actually trusted them. I will definitely not be recommending them to any of my friends or family. read more

I can't say enough good things about this company. I needed a last minute air conditioner repair and the technician was able to come within the hour. He was knowledgeable, explained what was wrong and made the repair quickly. I've hired Beyer in the past and they've always exceeded expectations at a good price. read more

BEYER replaced my air conditioning unit. in the process they caused $200+ damage. I called them repeatedly , sent copies of the invoices for the repair work. it has now been several months and I have not received compensation. read more

Started out with a service call on our 25 year old furnace. The service guys were very friendly and knowledgeable. They tried to get us up and running before determining that the identified repair cost was not justified for a 25 year old furnace. They have me a great quote for a new furnace and air conditioner. They installed it the next day. The installers, like the service guys, were very knowledgeable and friendly. The installation was completed without a hitch and they left with everything cleaned up - you couldn't even tell they had been there! I would highly recommend them for servicing your furnace or sure conditioner. And I certainly recommend getting a quote from them before you pull the trigger the next time you need to purchase a new furnace and/or air conditioner. read more

I would give the Beyer team 10 stars if I could. I worked with them years ago at my first house in Berkley when I replaced the furnace and added air conditioning and it was an awesome experience. Over the years, they did regular maintenance, along with doing check on HVAC systems for home we were considering purchasing. Saw the bad rating on yelp, but I was referred by a friend so I thought I would at least get an estimate from them. From then it was a completely different experience than any bad comment I saw on here. For starters I usually never comment on any vendors or places on here normally but after doing a lot of yelp "research" I figured I would give some research material to someone looking at this. From my experience 80% of the time people come on here to just complain, the places that have 50+ 5 star ratings are just there because the vendor has been hounding them to comment and they do it to be nice. Beyer heating and cooling hasn't even brought up reviewing them. They did what a great service provider does, provide great service. For starters, I got an estimate within hours of calling, AND they were able to come out the day after giving the OK. They worked around my schedule and were in and out in just a few hours. That's not the thing that impressed me the most though, I was most impressed by the fact that they talked me out of anything I didn't need. I was ready to buy the latest and greatest furnace and AC thing, a sales person's dream. They found out what I needed and recommend what I actually needed, nothing more. So the combination of great service and advice I'm glad I trusted, led me to wanting to leave this comment and give this rating. I now have a warm and happy wife all while paying much less than I thought, who could ask for more. read more

Despite grossly overcharging me on a new high efficiency furnace and A/C back in 2005, this is my normal go-to place for issues relating to my heating/cooling functionality. I can kinda forgive them for taking advantage of a naive new homeowner who just wanted the soot spewing monster out of her basement as soon as possible. Reasons for only 3 stars: -As someone who deals with large & small companies on a daily basis, I expect a certain level of customer service. Answering the phone with a weak "hello" doesn't cut it. Make sure I know that I'm definitely calling the right place, otherwise I might just hang up, thinking I misdialed and got grandma. -Your prices are higher than some of the bigger names in heating/cooling in Clawson and Royal Oak. I know, because when I thought I misdialed they got my business instead. -Your answering machine is very obviously a home answering machine. Maybe I'm just being picky, but some of the smallest businesses I've dealt with still manage to have a professional message system. Check into grasshopper.com, they're affordable, there's not much of an excuse not to switch. -Trying to get someone to come out after hours is virtually impossible. You've lost my business on more than one occasion after I've left a message on the answering machine, realized nobody was going to respond until the next day, and opted to call a different company instead of waiting. Again, a cheap call forwarding service could fix this. I'll continue to support this Ferndale business, but after a few years of dealing with the above issues, I've saved the number of other heating/cooling services that seem to understand the 24/7 nature of their business. read more

After the Flood of 2014 my water heater stopped working. I noticed the pilot was out and attempted to re-light it and it wouldn't light. The warning stickers on the heater made me a little nervous as they said if there was any flooding do not attempt to light and call a service repair technician. I figured while I they were out I would have them check my furnace too and make sure all was well before I found out the hard way during the cold winter. As a first time home owner and a single mother I had never experienced anything like this. I was just praying that I didn't have to replace either of these appliances especially the water heater as it is only about 4 years old I waited until the next morning and started to call around. Every place I called was booked until the end of August. I called Beyer Heating and Cooling Inc. and the woman on the phone was very friendly. She placed it as an emergency call and said someone would call me back with the soonest available appointment time. No more than ten minutes later another woman called me back and told me they were very sorry and that they did not service water heaters. She asked me how much water had collected in the basement during the flood. I told her it was between 4-5 inches. She asked me if my central air was working. I went and turned it on at the thermostat and It kicked on like normal. I felt the vent and could feel the cool air. I let her know it was working normally. She said that meant the furnace was functioning so unless I notice any other problems with it they wouldn't have to send someone out for that. She then asked me about the water heater and what happened when I tried to light it. I explained to her that when I pressed the ignition switch sometimes I would see a spark and other times nothing would happen. I also told her that when it did spark the pilot was not lighting. She informed me that the most likely culprit causing the intermittent sparking and the pilot failing to light was wet insulation. I had already known there was insulation inside of water heaters but I didn't realize the insulation extended to the bottom of the water heater near the pilot and burner. She told me to keep the cover off, let it dry out, and keep trying to re-light it once every few hours. Lucky for me I already happened to leave the cover off the night before as I hoped if there was water in the pilot or the burner that it would dry out over night. After my informative phone call and my newly found confidence I went downstairs to try to light it again and wallah, finally we had fire! I finally got to take a warm shower after 3 days of freezing experiences. I know that this review isn't going to be helpful to most as I am not reviewing prices and a service call. However I still felt compelled to write it because this awesome customer service spoke volumes to me. Believe me when I say I called over twenty places that day. Not one of those companies offered any kind of help over the phone. This woman went out of her way to offer me advice which ended up saving me approx 75-100 dollars (service call) not to mention the time of waiting for an available technician. With all of the stress I am dealing with trying to fix the damage this catastrophic flood caused, her humanity put a much needed smile on my face. One thing I do know for sure is the next time I need heating or cooling work done the first call I am going to make is to Beyer Heating and Cooling Inc! Over this last year I have had 3 furnaces replaced by Beyer and I could not be more satisfied with the entire experience. From quote to final inspection Ari Byer and his team put the customer first. BUYER BEWARE!! This company AND its employees will cut corners, hide stuff, and do a bad job. If they come across something that creates extra work for them they will not even tell you about it. They will simply keep it a secret and hide it. They overcharge for crappy work so it's not even like you are getting a deal. Read their other reviews across Google and other locations. Originally purchased my central heat and air unit with these guys a couple years ago. Today we had a power surge from a downed power line a couple doors down and when the power came back up my furnace would not come on. Since it was electrical I got an electrician out right away. They found nothing wrong on that end and now it was after hours. (8pm). I called Beyers to get someone out this evening since I have 2 small children in the house. They actually have someone answering phone calls at that time of night. She took my information and said she would pass on the info to the tech and I would be getting a call from him on his availability. 2 hours later I was still waiting on the phone call. I called them back and had to give my information again. Yes at this point I am now calling other heating and cooling company's to try and get someone out. I finally did receive a phone call from Beyers at 10:45 pm. The tech said turn it all off and back on to see if it would reset. We had already done this with the electrician and when I told him this he said we are book all night and try calling in the morning to see if they could fit me in tomorrow. Guess who I won't be calling in the morning. That's right Beyers. read more

Beyer has been servicing my condo's cooling and heating needs since 1998. Beyer's has installed two central air conditioning units. As well as, a new furnace and a new central air conditioner core. In the last two months, Beyer installed a new furnace. I know this was azz backwards, but, after the new furnace was installed I researched the relevant issues that go into determining what percentage of furnace efficiency that I would need before purchasing a new furnace. Well, even though I was uninformed at the time of the furnace purchase, Beyer selected the appropriate furnace based on my needs. In other words, they didn't attempt to talk me into buying a much more expensive high efficiency furnace when I didn't need one. It was then that I could see that Beyer was protecting our long relationship, which was based on trust and professionalism! Another local heating and cooling company had quoted me a price that was $2500+ more. read more
