I went here back in May 2024 with a friend of mine who was getting acrylic nails done just to get my toe nail polish removed and redone as well as some basic nail filing and trimming. I had been super busy and unable to do my nails for a while, and when I took the old nail polish off a few weeks later to redo them, my toenails were completely black. I went to my podiatrist and she said it was a fungal nail infection. I had not been to any public pools, public showers, or anywhere where I would have gotten something like this other than the nail salon. It is almost gone now, but I am still recovering from this 9 months later and I have to wait until the whole nail completely grows out while using the topical medication every day before it will be gone completely. It has been expensive for treatment, not to mention horrible for my confidence and painful. I called to see if the salon would reimburse me for the service or pay any of the medical bills and they never called me back after saying they would speak with the owner. I also received a prank call a couple days later regarding the situation. Not sure if one of the ladies at the salon made the call or if it was someone I had told about the situation. Either way, didn't feel good. Do not go here, they do not sanitize their tools or throw files away after they've been used. I am trying to find a way to report this to TDLR. I would've hired a lawyer but I cannot afford it right now. I would've reported this sooner on here, but I was nervous about sharing the pictures. I think it will help others stay safe which is the only reason I'm sharing. Very scary stuff. Bring your own nails tools and polish every time no matter where you go is the lesson learned from this. read more

Everytime you visit this place the prices increases by $15 ridiculous. If you want something that will last and not crack split or completely fall off ide advise you to go elsewhere. Nail repair is normally 5-6 bucks anywhere that you go... I've been getting my nails at least 20 years faithfully I get there and she laughs while piling a hunk of acrylic on my nail no filing then straight to the light, I'm like are u going to file I'm told next time 15 dolla no mam this isn't how it's done Long story short I give her 10 and remind her that I will never step place in this establishment again. A name change would suit this place no one here can do nails Exotic means just that not watered down acrylic with no form to the nail at all! Horrible rushed job on both nails and toes. The guy servicing me did a gel manicure and pedicure in less than an hour. Although, I do like my toes, he cut the skin on my big toe which hurt for 2/3 days. Nails look terrible, he did a messy job and had polish all in my cuticles and I had to have him clean it up. Had I not said anything, he was ready to send me on my way. The nail shapes are uneven and I was supposed to receive a manicure but all he did was put my hands in cold water and file my nails again. Lemond is very patient nail technician. I want to complement him about that but that is it. I got simple ombré Nexgen but I need to tell him A to Z because uneven lengths and shapes. My friend and I went to get our nails done and we both had two completely different experiences. My nail tech was extremely nice and gentle, meanwhile my friends nail tech was rough and rude. I got more complex nails than my friend and mine were less expensive than hers. I live in irving and let me tell you Amy is worth the drive. She is amazing at nail art and design, not just the little flowers and squiggle lines I'm talking about works of art. I always get stopped and asked about my nails. She isn't afraid to try what you ask and is very much the perfectionist. You will not leave unhappy. Went two times before today. Had an 11 a.m. appt. Called at 10:30 to see if Amy was on time or behind I was told to come. Got there sat for 25 minutes. 15 minutes into Amy comes over from a customer she is working on with another tech. She knew I was there gives methe acrylic color wheel to look at......busywork to keep me thinking that she was coming soon. Not! I had enough so I got up and left. I went to Exotic bc I was told Amy was good yes if you can get her to take you on time. The first time I went I was first in the morning at 10 she got there at 10:35. My index finger was sliced OPEN from her aggressive nail filing and it bled quite nicely. She also made my middle and ring finger bleed from cuticle cutting. She still charged full price. My sliced finger still hurts next day. I normally don't go to any place if the front desk or over the phone employee is rude but I made the mistake of ignoring that. I let all the other yelp reviews dupe me into ignoring that. She kept interrupting me and cut me off asking the same questions over despite me telling her. I realized it was a language barrier. But when I arrived she argued with me that I said wanted something different over the phone. She even said she expected two people. I said nope just me. She started speaking to someone else in her language and had her ask me the same thing. I told her again, it's just me. Why would I lie? This has been my regular spot for almost 4 years now and I won't go anywhere else. I get a mani/pedi and eyebrow wax once a month. They are friendly, and know me by name. Sometimes the wait gets long if you don't have an appointment and I asked the owner one day why she didn't hire more people and she said she would rather have quality workers instead of just anybody.
