My only critique is that most of the menu is not fresh. Had two meals here. The breakfast far out did the lunch menu as it was fresh cooked and nothing was instant or premade. A marvelous stop among the array of gas pumps! Their forte are the breakfast skillets and fresh baked selection of pies. Friendly ladies. I had the bowl of chili with everything on it. Ate here for dinner on 02/18/24 and breakfast on 02/19/24. The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and on top of everything. Drinks were refilled when they got low and plates were removed when empty. The place was clean and decorated nicely. It is inside a truck stop but it's not overpriced like other places. Noticed there were plenty of regular customers coming in, so you know they are doing things right. Will be stopping by again next time I am in the area and have the time. read more

Stopped to get gas and needed to check Yelp for a spot to eat. Who knew we'd get both at virtually the same place! The entrance is inside the gas station and it looks like an old diner once you're inside. The breakfast is served all day and was tempting. But, I had a taste for fried chicken and hubby wanted a burger with grilled onions. We also got onion rings which were the best we've ever had! Very crispy with a tasty beer batter. The chicken was very juicy inside and crispy outside as it should be but rarely is in a restaurant somehow. The burger was great...especially the grilled onions. The side options are nice. I picked hash browns and wow were they good too! The dessert case looked spectacular but sugar is the devil according to my scale. The prices are good and the service was great. There were lots of local regulars there too which is a good sign usually . I will definitely be back when I'm passing through again. UPDATE... Went back last month and it pains me to say this was a one star experience. Burger extremely overcooked with no flavor. We thought we were in the wrong place after we ate. My wife and I like to meet up here weekly for lunch during a busy work week. The food is always good but the waitress staff is a little iffy. Some are quality waitresses and some leave a little to be desired yet effective enough that I keep coming back. They really do have good food and that typically glosses over any issues. This week pushed me over the edge. I walked in and waited 15 minutes for the waitress to at least acknowledge me. I made eye contact, asked if I could get a soda while I waited for my wife to arrive and she basically blew me off. She stopped to talk to two people and took the orders of two others who were seated after me. It felt like she had something against me though I have no idea what as she has served me before and I always tip good. I've always found her to be a bit rude but after 15 minutes of no service, I was done. Got up and left and we will never be eating here again. I am a truck driver so I eat at a lot of different places in the eastern 37 states so I have plenty of experience eating at mom and pop restaurants which is what this is and big name places as well. Clean tables and benches granted a bit worn through on some and that's the only reason I have them 4 stars instead of 5! The young lady working was awesome and attentive and pleasant as heck! I Ordered a steak and eggs breakfast it was dinner time but I was hungry lol, steak was cooked properly but was on the small size even for an 8.oz, eggs were good, hash browns were "OK" they had no seasoning but the pancakes were FRIGGING AWESOME!! We stopped here on our way home to Minneapolis from the Madison area. It was exactly what we were looking for: a truck stop-type diner with comfy booths, a big bakery/pie display case, country decor, and friendly staff. This diner adjoins a gas station/convenience store, so it's a perfect stop in the middle of the road trip. The food is standard diner fare, and it's all pretty good, and reasonably priced. I MUST recommend to you the fried mushrooms. They're huge, meaty mushrooms, coated with a delicious beer batter. And they're even better reheated! I had a Reuben sandwich, which was quite respectable, though it didn't blow my mind. My husband seemed to enjoy his cheeseburger. Both sandwiches came with yummy chips and a pickle; if we had ordered them as "baskets", they would have included fries and soup or coleslaw, but the sandwiches by themselves were plenty for both of us. All in all, the food was decent, the service was friendly, and the check only came to about $25. Oh, and the free Wi-Fi was pretty great too. The only negative is that we were too stuffed at the end of the meal to share a piece of chocolate peanut butter pie. This will certainly make it onto our list of favorite stops when we're on the road in Wisconsin. read more

We hadn't found a place in Menomonie that we enjoyed for breakfast until now. I had three piece of French toast with had the perfect amount of vanilla and fluffy texture. My son had the Exit 45 Special Omelet, Daughter had chicken fried steak hearty breakfast. Everything was perfect. Waitress was fun and attentive. I used to stop in every Saturday for breakfast. The last time I was there I was eating my breakfast. When my waitress told me that a bunch of her friends had just got Covid. There she was recently exposed to Covid, and there I was with my asthma eating breakfast. So I didn't go back for quite a while. Decided to give them another chance today. I had a different waitress. She took the menu from the table right beside me didn't wipe it down and handed it to me. She also had dirty fingernails. I saw this place listed here when I was searching for a place to eat while making a delivery to the area. Since it has truck and trailer parking it was perfect. What a fantastic surprise on the Interstate between he Twin Cities and Madison. Crappy looking place in the Loves gas station, next door to a Subway, but good food you might cook for yourself. Coleslaw and cod were both crisp and tasty, bread was crunchy and remarkably fresh tasting for 9 pm on a Saturday night. Milkshake was thick and perfect. Definitely a truck driver's stop, with a few customers too fat to be eating anything but broccoli, but safe and clean and friendly and serving food anyone would eat at home. Totally worth waiting to get here; stay away from the familiar fast food dumps and make a beeline for this place! read more
