    Monte Cristo

I gave this place four stars before it will remain four stars. Thats not a bad thing. It's an honest meal. It just didn't blow me away. The corn beef frappe was good so was the Monte Cristo but they were just good not great. Both had melted cheddar - not a fan. The pie was much better. My family really liked it. Death by chocolate it's quite intense. You have a chocolate crust, chocolate filling with a ton of whipped cream and you can never have enough whipped cream. Megan, our server was super nice and super attentive

Quaint diner with Norwegian flair! We only stopped for lingonberry jam but got enticed into lunch by the smells. At first glance it's a diner with a pie case but check the menu for some unlikely finds. The Wisconsin Reuben was delicious, loaded with thick corned beef and lots of butter and sauerkraut so you didn't even need the thousand island. I wasn't sure how a Reuben would be without rye but the cranberry wild rice bread was the real star of the sandwich. The corned beef hash was a bit salty but I'll take homemade over the canned stuff any day! I had to try a side of their sausage gravy because my southern roots demand it, and I can say it's a decent attempt with good amount of black pepper and sausage flavor. They have an extensive case of pies which were tempting but we were full from lunch. We ended up loving the bread so much that we took a whole loaf home. Service was friendly which was a relief considering we ended up coming in at 2:20 when they close at 3. Next time in the area I definitely want to try the pie and maybe a smelt wrap made with lefse!

Made a stop here during a road trip and it was so cozy! Loved the Scandinavian decor and style! Got the Wisconsin Reuben 1/2 sandwich and really enjoyed the cranberry wild rice bread! And also tried the Smothered Denver Lefse Wrap- first time trying a lefse wrap! The Dutch apple pie was very good but we found it a little on the sweet side with the toppings :)

Went here on a Sunday for lunch and we were shocked how quickly we were seated. Other times when we've stopped, they've been packed and we've had to wait, so immediate seating was a plus. Our waitress was very friendly and super patient with kids. She quickly got them milk and crayons. She also took all our orders right away and brought out the kid's applesauce. The food took a little while to arrive, but at least they were entertained and got some food in the wait. We ended up ordering the turkey melt on cranberry wild rice bread, the chicken salad wrap, kids chicken tenders, and kids french toast sticks. The melt on the cranberry wild rice bread was by far the best, yet a little greasy. The sauce they give you with it just provides the extra zing that the sandwich needs. The wrap was a little more mayo forward than I like in my chicken salad and pretty messy because of that mixed with the petite diced tomatoes. Most of my wrap ended up falling out and I ate it with a fork. The chicken tenders were standard for a kids meal. The French toast sticks kind of surprised us, as they looked amazing, but actually ended up being kind of greasy, which is not something I've experienced with French toast before. Kind of wondering how they made them. We also had to get some pie for dessert. As they were out of most of the seasonal when we were there, we went with the cherry. It was tasty as all their pies are! I love that it wasn't overly sweet, even with a sugared crust, and they let the sourness of the cherries come through. Overall, I will say definitely get some pie to try! Also huge shoutout to our waitress, who was patient with the kids and thought ahead to provide them distractions while waiting. Thank you!

We made a special trip to purchase lefse and the cranberry wild rice bread. Don't miss taking them home. That bread is fabulous. The soups are okay but very bland. My husband enjoyed his 1/2 turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes. The Cranberry, Turkey and Swiss Melt is really good but some lingonberries in the sandwich would make it perfect. The hashbrowns were crispy and buttery. The letdown was in the pies. They have greatly reduced their pie menu. They also didn't have all of the current choices available. By noon the lemon meringue was sold out. The pie is very good but not as good as it used to be. Service was good and friendly.

Always a treat on a long road trip to stop at this famous and well known spot for a Norwegian influenced menu and dozens of homemade pie choices!! Lefse items abound, but leave room for a slice of pie! Not known for fast food, just good old comfort food. Servers very friendly with good advice. I had smoked sausage, hash browns and cheese wrapped in lefse with hollandaise sauce . . Winner! Companion loved the special; creamed chicken on a biscuit. Will stop on the way back!

Overall a 4.5 rating - only thing to improve is ambiance and bathrooms. Maybe not fair for a diner. Easy access- just off 94. Seating and service: fast Ambiance: good, some Norske Food: good variety. Lingonberry (tart) on potato pancakes were excellent if ok w cranberry-like flavor. Breaded shrimp was good. Prices are typical. Besides pie, they also sell lefse to take home (butter &sugar, then warm) and award-winning pies. Our waitress kindly told the history of this building and how the recipes are kept the same over the decades. The name fits the food offerings.

My first time trying potato pancakes and I was pleasantly surprised. The prices are great, portions are even better. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the strawberry pie was second to none. Our server was very nice and service was quick.

Norske Nook is a hidden gem a little ways off the freeway in Osseo. I've been to most locations, but the original here in Osseo has the best mix of small town charm and unique Norwegian food. Their lefse-wrapped dishes are some of my favorites, and they have a very large pie selection (Death By Chocolate is SO good!). Their service isn't the fastest, but hey it's a local eclectic restaurant in a small town, what do you expect?!

The original Norski Nook. It was my husband's birthday and we were traveling so he wanted to stop off and have a piece of pie. We both ordered a 1/2 sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes. I had the Norwegian meatball and hubby had Turkey. We wanted to save room for pie. My husband had the banana cream he said was to die for. I had the pecan which came with me and I had 3 desserts off that one slice of pie. It was delicious! We have been here before and there always seems to be a line. Today we were here at 1:00 on a Friday afternoon and had a short wait. They are only open until 3 pm. Stopped again 6 months later for breakfast. My husband ordered his fav banana cream pie which was served first and he even let me have a couple of bites. It has a thick Graham cracker crust loaded with banana and delicious creme filling. This stop my husband had biscuits and sausage gravy. It was a huge bowl full. I had a taste and it was rich. Tasted good. I had the Norwegian pancakes with lingonberry sauce. It had ample dollops of whipped cream. I didn't even need the maple syrup that was served tabletop. I had a side of bacon which was thick and tasty. I was expecting 2 pieces but there were 4. I had approximately one pancake and 3 pieces of bacon to take out and eat down the road as we have about 2.5 more hours of driving. I saw they had an apple French toast that O may have to try on our next stop.

Stopped in while passing through Wisconsin on a road trip and this place hit the spot. Breakfast was decently priced and tasted good for what it was - the classic eggs, toast, and bacon meal. The part that makes this place a true gem is the dessert... It's been awhile and I still DREAM of the pie. Try the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie if you're a sweets lover - the filling is creamy and rich, pairing soooo nicely with the buttery crust. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. TRY IT!

Great food - family style. If you want to have a slice of pie, order ahead of time. Because they will be gone when you want it.

I've heard about this place many times, known for their pies. We were passing by and dropped in for lunch. Husband had a lefsa wrap. He really liked it. He liked how light the shell was compared to tortillas. I opted for breakfast and had the stack of two buttermilk pancakes. They were fluffy and yummy. Being too full to eat anything else, I took a slice of blueberry pie home with me. I ate it over three mornings with my coffee. Very blueberry'y. Glad we stopped. It was a cute, homey, local place.

Whats up with that raisin sour cream pie, is it good...good enough to order it and have it shipped across state lines (if possible, don't judge I love pies!)?

If you like Sour Cream Raisin it is the best. However they don't ship; especially not anything with meringue or a cream pie.
