Birthday party for a lady turning 99, it's gotta be friendly.

A highway oasis! Clean, friendly, rustic country diner complete with weekly specials that might be walleye, ribs, or gravy dishes. Salads, burgers, and breakfast items too. Wide pie selection, an obvious differentiator. Great service.

We stopped here on a whim after my son saw the amazing pies on display. And I am so glad we did! We had an amazing home cooked meal with great service. Its cozy and the friendly service were so appreciated after a long weekend on the road. Make this a must-stop and save room for pie!

This is the cleanest, nicest, least racist truck stop restaurant I have ever in my life encountered. The truck stop itself is the cleanest, nicest, least racist truck stop I've ever been to. And it is roughly half way between Milwaukee and Minneapolis, a trip I make not infrequently. Although their best meals are the not-healthy American breakfasts, they have great lunch and dinner choices too. More importantly, great pie and coffee. This is one of the best authentic White American cuisine restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I could tell just peeking in the window getting gas (good prices) because all the customers are White Americans. Waitstaff friendly without being fake, efficient, and attentive. Although this is the sort of place where eating to being uncomfortably full is the norm, they also sell Amish chocolates, smoked meats, and other snacks for the road.

Wow!! You guys don't want to miss this little gem! I convinced my husband to come here for breakfast instead of another McDonald's drive thru and we were not disappointed. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and he got the turkey sandwich both were divine! The service was fairly fast and the ambience was cozy! It's also very clean in here. Loved it!

I travel between Milwaukee and Minneapolis regularly and the Hixton Travel Plaza featuring the Timber Valley Restaurant is the must stop place. The food is top notch. Really. I've had some of the best meals at this little gem. I found this by accident pulling off the interstate in a terrible storm 4 years ago and this is now my go to place on the road. Breakfast, lunch or dinner you are sure to get a great meal.

Yooooo..do NOT discount this place just cause it's at a gas station. Literally had to stop mid meal to write this. The food is absolutely phenomenal. The fries are so fresh & my chicken cordon bleu sandwich is just picturesque. Highly recommend if you're ever in the Hixton area to stop & grab a bite here. You won't regret it!!

Ice cream cones on each gas pump - so cute!

Good food, good service. Seat yourself when you arrive and enjoy the atmosphere. Such an enjoyable little spot to stop and eat.

Really enjoy their Friday fish meals. I like the baked fish, but my husband loves the batter-fried fish. Highly recommend

When it comes to breakfast, I like mine simple and basic. Scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, English muffin or toast. There may be other offerings, but this is my go to/comfort zone. I at first wasn't going to get the buffet, but when I noticed how they made sure the offerings were always fresh and not just sitting on a warmers, I decided to give it a try. Everything was hot and fresh! The scrambled eggs were not lifeless and flat, for lack of better words they were fluffy. The hash browns were amazing too. I'm going to skip over to the breakfast sausages and bacon. Truly Amazing, the best I've ever had. I must admit that I did return to the buffet for an additional serving of both. It took much self control not to keep returning and continue grazing on sausage links and bacon. I would highly recommend the breakfast buffet and wish you luck on portion control.

We chose 5:00 on a Friday thinking they wouldn't be too busy yet, and there were plenty of tables available. My wife and I had the same thing, a glass of Malbec, the chopped salads, the pork shank with mashed potatoes and crispy Brussels sprouts, and the cast iron cookie with ice cream. Everything was delicious, and very plentiful. Service too was outstanding. Absolutely the finest restaurant in the Wisconsin Rapids area. We enjoy The Dirty Oar and the supper clubs, but Aldo's food is far superior.

It wasn't too busy so we grabbed a could seats at the bar. Great tavern atmosphere! The staff was friendly and pointed out their "extensive" menu posted on the wall - maybe six items! I opted for the hot ham and cheese sandwich with onion. I also got a side of their famous hot horseradish mustard. Wow what a kick! The sandwich was juicy and excellent. My wife got their Spanish stew which was just OK. Kind of a weak chili. Skip it. They are also known for their hot roast beef sandwich. Definitely stop by and try the ham sandwich!

Here are two overlapping reasons why a trip to Ray's Place is worth your time…read more 1. Food & Drink: The beers (a very generous selection of which are on tap) and the beef and ham sandwiches are filling and flavorful. With regard to the sandwiches, be sure to request the horseradish-infused mustard (known among my friends as "Wisconsin Napalm). 2. The People: Ray's Place is a "third place" for all kinds of folk. Sit at the bar or take a table at Ray's and you will rub shoulders with rowdy Packer's fans (look for the green Jell-O shots), UW students taking a break from cracking the books, steel-toe boot wearing workers who have just finished theirs shifts, and/or families catching a quick bite before going to or returning from the kid's' games. Go to Ray's and be prepared to meet a microcosm of Eau Claire. See you there.
