Had a great experience with calling the Exile headquarters, the customer service is excellent, I ordered a custom Blairacuda and a double wrapped Hornet. The custom will be complete in half the time expected and the Hornet double wrapped was delivered sooner then expected! Hornet rips!!! The hybrid model double wrapped carbon glides out to the waves at 26th St. in Santa Cruz, and super responsive with the wraps and the lines hold solid once in the barrel! Cannot wait for the Custom to arrive! Going to order more boards in the future! I highly recommend exile double carbons and or the GOAT build! It's worth every penny!! read more

Beautiful resin art! This is my second Exile after 10 years of hard use on my old board. The custom build took 3-5 weeks, just like it says on the website. I called in on the 5th week for an update and was treated ever so nicely by the incredibly amicable staff at Exile. Board just needed some final love touches and was shipped the very next day. "Through a combination of QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE and ATTENTION TO DETAIL, Exile has become one of the most popular skimboards in the world". - I find this to be incredibly inaccurate. I ordered a custom Blaricuda over 10 weeks ago. Forest green, with a bright yellow and green pinwheel design on the bottom (Mind you, I had an in person, detailed consultation). Long story short, I went to pick up the board, the top looked great, but the bottom was a half-assed attempt at a marbling effect with white and brown. I gave Exile a second chance at remaking the board. I was explicitly clear with the staff as to what I wanted to see in the board. Same forest green, with a yellow, green, and white pinwheel design on the bottom. Went to pick up my board almost two weeks later (September 24th, 2020) And the board was an absolute eye sore. The top was poo green with one giant pale yellow "spiral" on the bottom. Frank had a big problem with the fact that I was complaining about the color of the board I paid over 500 dollars for. He said " It's just a cosmetic issue, the board is going to ride fine". Basically, what I heard was "What's the big deal? suck it up" Exile does NOT have the quality customer service or attention to detail that they so openly brag about in the introductory portion of their website. They are concerned about quantity over quality, and put no effort into their resin art unless you're a pro. Another concern of mine: There are no technical specifications on any of the boards that they manufacture, and there is a HUGE discrepancy in info when it comes to board size/ weight capacity. It would be GREAT to know what you're getting. What kind of foam are you using? What is the density? What colors degrade the structural integrity of the board? Do you ACTUALLY use two layers of carbon? Yes? No? Why? Etc..... As a customer, I deserve to know every detail about the board I've purchased, and everyone who considers purchasing one (which I hope you really think about. There are other great skimboard makers in the world that will offer you a better product) deserves to know as well. I was told that the M/L at 5/8' thickness I ordered would support up to 190lbs. I was later told it would support up to 170. I'm 155 pounds, so that leaves 15 lbs of wiggle room. I can go on... No phone calls or emails to keep me updated throughout the custom board making process (and apparently I'm not the first person to have experienced that on this thread)... Exile- Please hire better resin artists, be thorough with ALL of your customers, and for the love of god pay attention to your custom orders. Warm regards, Jake read more

I just got into skimboarding, and being on the west coast I figured exile was the place to check out. There was a small hiccup in the ordering process, but it was remedied lickety split with speedy service and a shirt! The shirt is awesome and the board is incredible, a sleek green Exile Hornet. I've ordered a few more things and every time I am impressed by the service and speed that things happen in the exile/customer world. I ordered my first custom board from Exile and it looks and rides great! I didn't ask for a specific design, only the colors, and the artist really did a great job. The board dimensions are true to what they specify on the website and the quality overall is top notch. I called in a few times to ask questions and change my order, and I got great customer service. The board did take a while to ship (about 5 weeks), but considering the website said 6-8 they actually got it to me a little early. Don't know where some of these negative reviews are coming from because I had the opposite experience. read more

Ordered a custom board from them, took a month and a half to get to my house and when i opened it, it looked NOTHING like what i asked for and the paint job is so bad it looks like a two year old did it. theres black paint smears all over the part thats supposed to be all blue. theres scratches and paint chipped off all over it. for how much money i spent it should have been perfect, this is bullshit. read more

When I was younger, our buddy Andy, used to make skimboards that out performed everything on the market. The problem was that Andy was just one guy, not a company, and trying to get a board out of him was kinda tough. That changed when him and Aaron started exile skimboards. These boards are basically just as good as Andy's boards back in the day. The company has super good customer service and a great product. I started skim boarding about year before I discovered exile skimboards (wood skimboards I might add) and wanted to rent a foam board to try one out before I forked out a wad of cash for one. Walking in I noticed first thing a ton and I mean ton of skimboards all over the place, I was greeted by I believe Hank and I asked to rent a board out and in about 60 seconds I had a board under my arm set for my weight and height an ready to go skim. When I returned to return the rented board I was greatest again but by someone different. (Wish I got their name) and after paying just about nothing for the rent( a great deal) I asked a few questions regarding boards and prices and was presented with a great number of tips for boards, boards a bit cheaper or for certain styles and a list of beaches great for skim, walking out with an exile catalog which I have one my desk, I plan to rent and eventually buy a board from this excellent place! 5 stars an two thumbs up for exile skimboards! read more

I ordered a custom board before my annual beach trip to Destin FL and couldn't have been more excited to try it out. As a 31 year old, I was like a kid on Christmas Eve leading up to it.
