Dr Hendrickson was amazing with our 3 year old and did her eye surgery for a chalazion removal with great care!

Dr. Hendrickson is the best!!! He has seen both of my daughters (2 and under) for regular eye exams and surgery, and everything has been so incredible. I wish he were their regular pediatrician, too! He's so good with the kids, it's a really fun office and overall environment for them, and everything with the process of getting my baby's eye surgery went so smoothly. read more

Well, I was going to set up an appointment to have my husbands eyes checked, but after reading all of the reviews I decided to not go with this company due to 2 things: 1st, cost!! Never in all my years have I heard of a $450.. new patient fee. I have lived in many different states. Have had some of the best Ophthalmologists around and they have never charged such a huge fee when all you are doing is loading info into a computer program and dragging info into different files. I'm letting a lot of my family and friends to beware of price gouging to the extreme. They also do not bill your insurance. read more

Nice building and super nice staff. The doctor was great for my daughter. The 2 star is only because of the abnormally large bill we just received. My daughter was referred by her doctor, took her in for a regular eye exam. Well, $450 "new patient fee", the charge for a exam, and $120 to dialate her eyes. Over $700 for a one hour appointment. I am in college and we work enough to pay the bills and focus on school. Things like this bill is why I hate going to certain offices, they charge what they want. read more

I'm furious at the moment. First, they told me they couldn't find my insurance, so I gave them the info AGAIN. They said they found it. Didn't bother to tell me that they don't ACCEPT that insurance anymore!!! So now I'm stuck with a $300 bill for me and my kid. Well, then I'm looking to at my prescriptions when I get home. contacts and eyeglasses don't come ANYWHERE near each other. They look like they're for two different people! Polar opposites! I call them back to see if they'll just look at it and see if they printed something out wrong. Nope! They want me to come in for a whole new appointment! I'm not going back and being charged another $150 to get the wrong prescription again! read more

This clinic is not to thrust. We went for eye glasses for my son and DR yaetes Scott was very unprofessional and lier, he did not want to take my answer as following treatment with eye patches then he got upset and was very unprofessional trying to open my poor baby eyes forcing my son when he was crying because MR yeates was very rude so pathetic with my son, DR Scott then he was getting upset because I was telling him that my son's eye crossing were improving and for that reason I was going to just keep working on treatment but he was just getting more upset then he said your son has a brain Tumor ? I couldn't believe what he was saying just because I want to do treatment I could not believe what he was saying or why ? Without him having a specific evidence we just went there for eye glasses! I was in shock I couldn't believe what this doctor was saying I left that office hopeless , so at home I was thinking why this doctor is saying all this things I called other doctors and also I called my attorney and explained the situation so the doctors and my attorney were agreed on letting this Dr Scott go and see another doctor but fist confront him so on Tuesday 3 , I contacted him in his office and confronted him , then he treated me about CPS getting involved but he also said ( but I'm not going to call them ? ) so I said why you has to bring CPS on this when I only want to make sure you don't put my son on unnecessary procedure just because he thinks and without having evidence of eye discharge Redness or seizures epilepsy or anything that involves having a brain tumor ? Then he said I never said he has a brain tumor , this doctor I think he just doing insurance fraud he intimidated patients with unnecessary testing just to get paid , I hope the right agency investigated this office . read more

DONT GO HERE - especially if you want your surgery with Dr. James G. Theurer, MD to be a successful experience. This doctor was incredibly inconsiderate, unprofessional, and does not represent the medical profession well at all. If you read my other reviews you will see that I am not a grudge writer. My reviews are honest, direct, and cover the experience honestly that I had. I was recommended by a friend to see this doctor specifically for cataract surgery. This doctor has a terrible client manner. I overlooked it on the initial examination understanding of course that not all doctors are warm and fuzzy. No big deal... or so I thought. On the day of my surgery, I had all of my pre-op tests completed and was sent over to the hospital to have the cataract procedure. I was put through the paces of the prep work, eye anesthesia, and the preliminary drops. Once that was through however the nurse came and said it was the end of her shift and others would be monitoring me until my OR was ready. There was no attending staff around me in the OR prep area. I was left alone for nearly 2 hours. By the time Dr. Theurer and another nurse came around, all the prep work and anesthetizing drops had worn off and they had to repeat the procedure again. They hurried through that process and into the OR I went. Partway through the procedure, my anesthesia wore off and I was awake during the last 3-4 minutes of the operation. Dr. Theurer kept asking me to rest easy and just hold on because he was almost through. The pain was incredible in my eye. After surgery, I was wheeled to a recovery room. I was rushed out the door as it was at the end of the day and I was told Dr. Theurer had somewhere else to be. The hospital nurse would take care of my follow-up. The following day I was asked to go back to the office to check the eye post surgery as a general protocol. The pre-op staff person saw me and asked how everything went. I explained Ed what had happened. She was shocked and appalled. She apologized and explained that no of that experience should have gone that way. In my follow-up appointment t with Dr.Theurer, he was in a rush, cold in his demeanor and distant. He barely took a moment to check the eye. When I asked him about all the abnormalities, he replied "Oh well, that happens sometimes." And completely brushed me off. On my next appointment (10 days later) which was the first of the day on a Monday, he did not show up at all. He called the office about 30 minutes after my appointment start and said he was still in NYC on a visit. I drafted this review immediately after my first cataract procedure in one eye. I hesitated to post it but I have decided to do so now. I just had my other eye done by a completely different facility and surgeon. What a night and day difference In the experience d outcome. I will post that review specifically to that surgeon and Eye Center separate from this review. I learned from the second eye surgeon that there is corneal damage done from the first cataract surgery which would have been done by Dr. Theurer Beware of Dr.Theurer. Excel Eye Center offers quite a menu of choices. As to Dr.Theurer, stay away. I never did receive an acknowledgement or apology from him which was due as a minimum. read more

Been seeing Dr. Hatch since I was a little girl. They always take care of me and my needs wouldn't see anyone else.

This review does not reflect on the doctors at Excel Eye Center but on one of their billing policies. Beware if you are a new patient or are not a new patient but have not had an appointment there in the last three years! My 30-yr.-old daughter visited this place last in February of 2018. She went again in June of 2021 for a regular exam. Her insurance paid $100 of the $120 charge for the exam, but the bill she received included a $457 new patient fee! I called and wondered why the fee existed and why she was not told about it when she made the appointment in the first place (or she would not have gone there). I received some kind of explanation about some state law and her age, etc. Then the billing office lowered the charge to $130.00; but in my view, there should be NO new patient fee. Many eye doctor offices do not charge such a fee, and my own eye doctor's office has never heard of any state law regarding new patient fees charge after three years of not visiting an office. read more

Our 12 month old daughter has seen Dr. Yeates two times. We began to notice a lazy-eye like issue with her at about 6 months old. Dr. Yeates was able to diagnose her condition and give us a treatment plan. We were thrilled to have a pediatric specialist treat her instead of a general practitioner. He has resolved our concerns and we appreciate his expertise. read more

THEY ARE CROOKS!! I went to Excel Eye Center a couple of years ago to do a routine eye exam. They said they took my insurance, no problem. When I got a bill I called and they told me that they didn't take my insurance so I'd have to pay. I was mad, but ended up paying what I owed. For some dumb reason, I decided to give them another try. My insurance had changed. I called and gave them my insurance info and told them that I do not want an appointment if I had to pay anything out of pocket. They said they checked my insurance and I'm fine. So I scheduled my appointment. On the day of the appointment, I showed up and asked the receptionist again to check my insurance because it's a routine exam, it should be covered, and I didn't want to pay anything. She said she checked and I wouldn't owe a thing. A month later, I got a bill from Excel Eye Center showing that I owed $150. Rip off! I called and talked with billing and they said it was a mistake and it would be taken care of. Another month later I got a bill for $150. I called again and they said there's nothing they can do - I owe $150. My insurance wouldn't cover it. I was so mad. I told them that their own employees said they had checked and that I wouldn't owe anything. Now, I just got a bill from a collections agency. What a scam Excel Eye Center is. They don't take care of their patients. They lie. All they want is your money and they don't care how they get it. STAY AWAY!! read more

Excel was very professional and friendly. They helped fit my 9 year old son with contacts when nobody else would let him have contacts because they felt he was too young. I'd been looking for awhile for someone to help me and they were the only ones willing to let him. He is very responsible for an 9 year old and I knew he could handle them. It should be up to the parent anyway, right? He's had them for a year now and they have been great! read more
