I am a local neighbor of the Simsbury Inn, however, due to past experiences at the restaurant, my friends and I stopped going.

The grounds, the old millwork setting, ambience and views just feel comfortable while still upscale. I prefer the main dining area to the tavern or covered walkway because you get a glimpse of the kitchen that consistently generates fabulous food with seasonal ingredients and re-imagined classics. Tyler Anderson is back in charge these days and his food is just really good Trusting in him we did the five course menu tour: local oysters with mignonette; cornbread with sesame butter; then one of those classics that has been played with a bit: tapioca pearls prepared to channel clam chowder with bits of bacon and herb! The next jawdropper was frozen shaved foie gras over a strawberry cream compote with pumpkin seed granola. The entrees (you get both) were monkfish schnitzel with a pickle and potato salad and seared strip with potato galette and cioppolina onion. Dessert was a panna cotta with strawberry and angel food crumble All of these were delicious and unique in there on way. Our table relished and discussed every course in an a way that was fun and social. The food made sing and think! The only knock was this: the menu had some redundancies with strawberries and soft textures: the tapioca, foie gras dish, and panna cotta were delish, we could have done without three dishes for people who can't still chew! Service was very pleasant but painfully soft spoken and could benefit from some more fine dining polish. These are minor quibbles. Two weeks later and we are still telling everyone we know what a terrific meal we had... This is a must go restaurant

Pretty area but I was honestly thinking it was going to be more quaint and romantic. It was not. The area is somewhat narrow which makes tables spaced close together and it's really not that private. But the space is nicely decorated and if you sit on the right side (which we did), you're right in front of the waterfall. I would try the dining room next time just to compare. Our server Anthony was professional, kind of and accommodating. We started with cocktails - I had a creative gin drink called Dot Dot Dot. My husband loved his Old Fashioned - he meant to ask what type of bourbon they used because he thought it was very good. With the tasting menu - many of the options apparently change regularly though based off other reviews it appears there may be similar options from time to time. We started with their Johnny Cakes which the waiter said the restaurant is known for. Another reviewer ranked them a 7.5/10 and I couldn't disagree more. They were one of the tastiest bites I've eaten in a while. Crispy, buttery and divine. I thought they were to die for. Served with creamy honey sesame butter which was also delicious. My husband doesn't eat fish so for his amuse bouche he had a little puff served with cheese, that was amazing. For his first course - he had the Ricotta Raviolis. They were as beautiful as they were delicious. My amuse bouche was a tuna tartare that was a perfectly balanced bite. I had the Tapioca custard as my first course. The bacon was a bit too smokey for my taste and overpowered the dish in my opinion. It could have used a bit more liquid but it was a unique few bites. For our mains, my husband's porcini risotto was rich, creamy, and full of earthy flavor. I had the bass with cauliflowerini, golden raisin-caper gremolata, Marcona almonds, and a cauliflower purée--thoughtfully composed and very flavorful. The final savory course was a crispy duck breast with port-poached pear, port reduction, and sweet potato purée, which was beautifully executed. Dessert was a pomegranate pavlova--crisp on the outside with that perfect soft, marshmallowy center. A delightful finish to the meal. Overall, the dishes were not only delicious but also thoughtfully composed and visually striking. It made for a memorable experience, and we're already looking forward to coming back--maybe in a different season to see how the menu evolves.

I'm always up to try new cafes , but to drive 40 min for a cafe when we have so many around us I was a little hesitant. But once we got there the restaurant was very nice , modern style with little greenery and bright / white anterior design . The staff was lovely they greeted us and sat us immediately. The menu had lots of options and something for everyone . I ordered the iced tiramisu latte and the ricotta hotcakes with Nutella and bananas . Which was amazing , very light and delicious ( I normally don't eat all my food because of large portions .. but I was given 3 ricotta hotcakes and I ate everything!! It was sooo good , very light and filling , highly recommend ! My sister ordered the VEGAN kimichi bowl which was really good as well . My mom ordered the mango soufflé pancakes which i tried and def worth the drive to try . Very light and fluffy cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. !! And presentation was beautiful My husband ordered the Korean fried chicken and waffles ! The waffles came in rose shape which was beautiful 10/10 for the presentation and taste . Again the fired chicken was still light ( and not to heavy ) Overall 10/10 great staff , great atmosphere and even better the food was delicious ( with lots of options and variety for everyone). Definitely worth the 40 min drive and I will definitely be back again !!!

Their summer menu feels so creative and unique. It made me want to return regularly to check out what else they have come up with. I ordered the rose latte and the scallion pancake breakfast sandwich. I have never had anything like it before! Whoever thought of it is brilliant. It's a scallion pancake and it is stuffed with sausage and eggs. It is so delicious and satisfying. It comes with a side of sweet potato fries, and of course my daughter loved that. Also I wanted to shout out the waiters, who are really nice and attentive! The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that they don't have pastries! I wonder why. It would really hit the spot in a cafe like this, especially with their coffee.

When planning an event much is left to chance when it comes to the venue, food, and service--but the team at Metro Bis were amazing. Courtney was so responsive and helpful, it took the stress out of the planning, as I felt she had it under control. On the day of the event, they all went above and beyond, even helping us carry bags to and from the car. The table was set beautifully, the service was friendly and prompt, the timing of the courses was flawless, and the food was absolutely delicious--everyone at our party was raving about it! The room itself is beautiful, and the entire place has a wonderful vibe. Thank you to the entire team at Metro Bis for creating a day we will all treasure. Benny's came highly recommended and lived up to its plaudits. My four friends all had the hungry man special....two eggs, a choice of meat, and either two pancakes, two French toast, or a waffle. I don't follow the crowd, and opted for a CYO (create your own) 3 egg omelet (with a choice of 3 fillings...I chose sausage, spinach, and feta). My omelet also came w toast (rye for me) and either home fries or shredded potatoes. Our server, Victoria, was great. Attentive, capable, affable. She kept us caffeinated and seemed to have roller skates on and octopus arms (that's a good thing). Everyone's food looked great, but I really need to describe mine. The omelet was light and fluffy, and soooo delicious. The right amount of ingredients. The potatoes were actually like a potato pancake - crunchy on the outside, light inside. It rivaled those made in a place like Rein's in Vernon. Even the rye toast was perfect. A substantial crust and that subtle caraway taste. You know when you have a bunch of really good food on your plate and you can't decide what to end on. That's how it was for me.. tough choice between the omelet and potato pancake. One quibble - coffee a bit pricey at $3.35 a cup. But unlimited refills. I polled the other 4. Three said 5 stars (even Demanding Dan). Regardless of what they say, for me it was 5 stars!

It was cooked to a perfect medium and the beef patty was tasty and substantial ( larger than I like ) . The blue cheese although an adequate amount it didn't have much punch . The on line menu says frizzled Onions . The in store menu says onion. Rings and that is what you get , two fried onion rings. They were ok but frizzled onions would be better. The fries were great and I appreciate what some would call a skimpy severing. I don't need a mountain of fries and these were just the right amount and they crisp and hot. Just about perfect The problem with Benny's is the kitchen can be dreadfully slow . If are in a hurry stick with a simple egg, meat and toast breakfast . If not patience is a virtue and you will be rewarded with some pretty tasty food. Coffee is decent as well. Not good coffee shop quality but light years ahead of your basic diner coffee. The restaurant is clean an inviting. Tables near the entry door can be a little chilly in the winter.
