The Evergreen Lodge has a fantastic location as it sits smack dab in the middle between Vail Village and Lionshead. The walking trails are easily accessible and only takes less then 5 minutes to get to either side. It is also convenient to the bus stop for those needing mobility assistance. Go to the Visit Vail website to grab special rates. We were able to secure their Oktoberfest special rates, which made it a decent value for Vail. Definitely recommend the upgrade to Mountain View Rooms as it is a beautiful area and more quiet than facing I-70. Also note that the resort fees are $35, per room, per night. Breakfast is included, though it's served continental style in the lobby rather than in the onsite restaurant or sport bar. Each room comes with a (clean) mini fridge, two complimentary bottled waters, a coffee pot (with **quality** ceramic mugs) a hair dryer, and travel-size toiletries. The downside of my room was that the shampoo and body lotion were previously used and hand towels not so clean (one had makeup and toothpaste on it). Another drawback was that daily maid service wasn't provided, not even a simple trash clearing, which would have been appreciated. Evergreen Lodge is an older property , built in the early '70s. We were told by staff that major renovations are planned for April 2026, so hopefully that makes a difference (for repeat visits) Also would like to give a #serviceshoutout to the front desk staff. They were really friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in late July. We both really enjoyed our stay, though the room was a little warm the first night due to the common lack of air conditioning in this town. We found the staff very helpful with regards to directions and activities. The room was a good size and comfortably furnished. It is worth being aware that there are mountain view rooms with windows away from the highway, versus valley view rooms which face the highway; I inadvertently selected a valley view room (4th floor), but the highway was far enough away that I could treat it as white noise while sleeping, plus the view of the mountains north of the highway was a plus. The mountain view side may face on a hospital parking lot, but should be quieter. The hotel has sauna, hot tub, and a large heated pool. We really appreciated the latter two after a day hiking the mountain top. If you walk south past the pool and follow the trail over the creek to the right, it takes you down to a quiet road (W. Meadow Dr.) with sidewalks -- follow this road to the left past Vail Road to reach Vail's town center with shops, restaurants, and gondola one, or follow to the right to reach the Lionshead area with another gondola and more restaurants and shops. The hotel restaurant is a very good Nepali/Indian restaurant. We didn't try the bar, but it appears that the bar utilizes the restaurant's kitchen, and the restaurant sources drinks from the bar. The good: + Amazing staff + Great location + Good services on site at a fair price (laundry & ski/board tuning, sharpening, & waxing) The opportunities: - Dated rooms (and the most overly complex shower/tub faucet I've ever seen) - WiFi is nearly unusable from room - Resort fee surprise The details: Stayed here for almost a week. The staff has been very helpful and responsive (eg fan wasn't working in my room and they immediately replaced it ... accidentally left do not disturb on my door after I left and they offered to clean my room when I got back and realized the mistake.) Laundry: far cheaper onsite than any laundromat within 70 miles. DONT use both washing machines at same time as floor drain may (did) overflow. Change machine only accepts $1, $5, $10 but I was able to break a $20 at the front desk. Tuning services: Fantastic! They're done overnight and are back at the hotel around 4:30am... so plenty early enough after dropping them off after a full day on the slopes. Shuttle to Vail: Walk out the back, down the outside stairs to the walkway... where the walkway splits take a LEFT. Hoover the bridge and then turn right to get to either of the bus stops depending where you want to go. Bus stops have an easy to read map and time of when the bus will show. FYI: when you leave your board/skis on the lobby rack (not allowed in rooms) they'll move them to lean against the wall/window in the Venture Sports shop. If the gate is closed & locked the front desk staff can open it up for you. (Only had to do that once when I was out by 7am). $1 wing Wednesday at the bar was great. Nepalese restaurant was also good - amazing curry! -------- - was surprised by the resort fee - both saunas need the nails pounded down again so they don't burn you (or just sit on a towel) - left dry sauna heat dial doesn't work. - hot tub can be either a nice _hot_ tub or a _luke warm_ tub. - exercise room is minimal but functional - I did better using my 1 bar of LTE than the hotel WiFi from my room. - can be noisy. walls seem thin. When one is invited to the Vail Wine Classic - ONE MUST GO. Am I right? Because we figured that driving down the mountain wasn't the best idea after drinking wine all afternoon, we booked a room at the Evergreen Lodge for the night. Let's just say, it's A-Ok. PRO's: ++ Located on the north end of Vail, the lodge itself is easy to spot with a large parking lot, close to the walking path to the FREE Vail transit bus. ++ Staff is ultra-friendly, accommodating in that they let us check in hours early to make it on time for the Wine Festival and were all very pleasant. ++ There are 2 restaurants on the main level that offer a variety of eats. A sports bar and an Indian Restaurant! ++ Outdoor pool, indoor hot tub, pool tables, complimentary breakfast (coffee, tea, fruit and muffins) are just a few amenities! ++ Prices are affordable compared to nearby hotels - a better budget if you will. Our total for one night, during peak event season on a Friday was a little over $300. CON's: -- The lodge definitely shows its' age. While the lobby area is nice, the rooms are pretty outdated, filled with clunky mismatched furniture and gives off a dorm room vibe. -- There is NO air conditioning - which I failed to realize until we arrived. However, there are fans in each room allowing for some air flow. We opted to keep our blinds shut and window closed during the 95-degree day, and opened everything upon it was dark, and the room cooled down relatively fast. -- After drinking the afternoon away, we were in need of food and stopped in at the Altitude Sports Bar, which was filled to the brim with people eating, drinking and playing pool. We snagged a spot at the bar for a drink before making our way to the room with our food. While everything was decent, the chicken tenders (with fries), a side salad and a plate of nachos was $65! Oh, and the Indian restaurant only offers curry dishes - which weren't noted on the menu - as I was eying a noodle dish until a server informed me. Bummer - as I'm allergic to curry! We all know it's nothing fancy. It's simply a spot to lay your head after walking through town, a day spent skiing or for any other events Vail has to offer, and one I'd consider staying in again when in the area again! read more

While this isn't the Ritz, which is right up the road, if your looking for a budget room (by Vail standards) with a good location, this fits the bill! Parking is included and parking is a huge issue in Vail IMO, so that's a win right there. Based on the reviews and rating, I was slightly nervous. When I went into the lobby, it was better than I expected. Some areas are worn and can use updating - the elevators and in room bathroom. Though it's not like either made me want to hightail it outta there!! That being said, our room smelled like new carpet and it looked like it was new. There's a mini fridge and coffee pot in the room. Tv with plenty of channels (prob 50). 2 sinks, plenty of closet space. There is a complimentary ski check in the lobby. They lock them overnight and in the morning they're on a rack in the lobby waiting. The walk is approx 1/2-3/4 of a mile to Lionshead village. It's not a bad walk. Maybe a little worse after skiing all day. LOL. That took willpower to power through, sweating and lugging my gear when my legs were toast. The walls are thin, so you can hear water in the pipes and noise in adjacent rooms or above (I was so tired from skiing and half asleep, so the source didn't fully register. The only other con is that the bed was not that comfortable - it was soft and I prefer a firm mattress. Every time my husband moved, it woke me up. If I didn't get 11 hours ( I seriously have never been so tired from a day of skiing) of sleep, maybe my review would be downgraded a start based on these things but I was still refreshed in the morning. I think the other reviews are getting dated as they are renovating all the rooms. We had a very enjoyable stay. This is one of the most affordable places to stay in Vail Valley. It's at the far end of the valley, almost at Lion's Head, but it is still a convenient walk to anything in the town. The rooms were large and well kept. There is no air conditioning but you rarely need it. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom has two sinks, one in and one outside the bathroom. Refrigerator in the room, but no microwave. They are one of the few places that allows dogs. Unfortunately, the fee is $25/day, which is high in my experience. A one time charge of $25 and a deposit for cleaning is more appropriate. read more

This place had generally positive reviews online and was one of the most affordable options to stay in Vail for the night. Here's the catch when I arrived: 1) the hot water in the shower only stayed hot for about 5 minutes then ran cold and stayed cold. 2) the sheets were stained and appeared dirty to the point that my fiancé voiced discomfort with the cleanliness of the place 3) the rooms were HOT. At least 73 degrees Fahr. I was sweating when in bed with nothing covering me. I even tried taking a cold shower and laying down and began sweating soon afterwards due to the heat. When I brought this to the front desk manager's attention, Greg, he offered a different room on a lower floor. Sure, I checked it out, and it was the exact same temperature. I let Greg know, and he once again offered another room. This next room was about 1 degree cooler, but I would still consider 72 degrees as too warm to sleep comfortably. Additionally, I noticed that in every room, the thermostat didn't work. It was just there to make people feel like it did something. There was also a manual fan (like one you plug into a wall and place by your bedside) in every room. It was obvious they know the place runs hot. When I brought these to Greg's attention, I also asked for a refund. Who in their right mind would agree to $200 for a night in a hotel with conditions like this? Had these conditions been advertised up front, I never would have booked it. Greg granted my request for a refund He then instructs me to vacate the room. At this point it is 1:00AM. Look, I get it. If they let us stay, we would be basically staying the night for free. However, I clearly communicated that my fiancé I were distraught, frustrated, and physically uncomfortable with their service, and to top it off we were kicked out on the streets in the middle of the night. I would not recommend staying during youth hockey season. The hotel is located right next to the ice rink and where many teams stay especially during holiday, long weekends. We stayed there for 3 nights, two of which were spent asking kids in the hallway to please be quiet after hours as they played mini hockey. Parents were in the lobby at the bar. Kids were unattended. The mattresses are very uncomfortable; you can feel the coils and springs when laying in it. The lighting is terribly dim. The towels and bedding have a weird musty smell, as if they use a super cheap laundry detergent. The television is super small. The room was drafty because the windows are old and aren't insulated. The shower is difficult to use. The customer service is terrible. No one at the front desk ever answered the phone when I called to request basic information. Sometimes, there was no one at the front desk at all. We paid about $3,000 for 4 days and it was not worth it at all. This is the WORST hotel in Vail! I DO NOT recommend staying here at all. This place is a total tourist trap. The place is dingy with saggy beds and very outdated. It has radiant heating and no air. They claim that it comes with breakfast but that means a pastry and coffee. The pool was nice but they didn't even skim the surface and there was much debris to deal with in the morning. The Jets barely worked in the hot tub. They nickel and dime you to death and charge you taxes even on dog fees. They even tax you on a resort fee. We are currently in the hotel for one more night (President's day weekend) ... if only this weren't a nonrefundable reservation we would never have checked in at all! The rooms are old and very worn... the last renovation was probably in the 1980s. The breakfast buffet is $18/pp and to be honest, disgusting. Avoid it. My daughter ate two bites and refused to eat anymore. They charged us anyway. The hotel does have a ski rental shop in the lobby which will wax+sharpen your skis which is connvenient. The hot tub is decent and the location is probably the only redeeming feature of this tired, old place. It needs a complete renovation and a complete overhaul of its' dining options. I recently spent five days and four nights at the Evergreen Lodge as part of a big group of Jews celebrating Shavuot (that's a the dairy-focused holiday). The weather was up and down, but the views were beautiful and the staff was great. I mean, I fell asleep pool-side, which, for someone like me who can't fall asleep anywhere but a bed, is some stellar evidence of "relaxation." The place is a little rickety, and it definitely could use some SERIOUS upgrades both in the facade, the rooms, and the overall feel of the place. It felt less Vail lodge than it did Ozarks lodge (and I would know, as I used to frequent Ozarkian cabins). I guess when I picture the Vail lodge experience, I expect some class, and this place was more homey than classy. read more
