Croissants & Crostatas

Continues to be our weekly go to for all breads and pastries. Everything is always excellent!!

Love that there is a bakery of this caliber on this side of town! Woot woot! Pros: -high quality of pastries -amazing selection and availability (thank you for baking more than 5 of each item so that there's plenty for people to buy all day!) -size of items are pretty darn big! -presentation is impressive and beautiful -location right on the main street of Chagrin Falls downtown Cons: -no prices labeled anywhere (this is a big pet peeve of mine especially for bakeries and dessert places. Not too much more effort to add the price right next to the labeled sign, no?). I asked the worker how much each item was and she didn't know. WHAT?! How can you be a worker there and not even know what the prices are? She was a younger girl but seriously so clueless. Asked about some flavors and she didn't know either... -unknowledgeable staff (see above, LOL!) -high prices! Only after checking out, I was made aware that every piece of pastry is $5. Yikes! That's higher than most Asian bakeries and even other French bakeries! Will be coming back for only special occasions cuz Mama ain't got the dough to be grabbin' up every flavor that speaks to me, haha -hours: Yep, the dreaded close up at 2pm hours that no working person can make. And they have the gall to be closed 2 days, with one of them being a weekend! UUUGGGGH. I must vent my frustrations for all bakeries who love to close so dang, sell out of their popular items by an early time and choose to not open on a weekend day.

Chocolate Babka. I apologize it was so yummy it went rather quickly.

My Best Friend has raved about this place forever. Wednesday we went. They have an amazing bread selection. Muffins and a few interesting additions. I ordered a bran muffin that was hearty and I finished it without thinking of a photo. It was dense and moist and bite after bite did not disappoint. I also bought a Chocolate Babka which was very yummy. Enough chocolate and layers of sweet cake. I'm sorry not much left to share. This place is a must visit for top quality items. They sell out very quickly . We were there later in the day 80% of the display case was already gone. This is a must visit place when in Chagrin Falls located on main street. Many amazing shops surround this. Make an afternoon of it.

Pastries

The ham and Gruyère croissant was truly exceptional, and the pain au chocolat was also great. With such good pastries, I had high hopes for the bread. What an utter disappointment the sesame loaf and babka were. Both were poorly fermented, dense, and hard on the stomach. Go for the pastries, skip the bread

Chocolate croissant

I bought a chocolate croissant to take home. Woman told me it was full of chocolate. This is what I received. A very thin layer of chocolate in middle.

Pumpkin cruffin, apple fritter loaf, GF apple cider cookie

We were in Chagrin Falls this morning for breakfast on a beautiful, sunny, 65°, almost Spring day.

There are brands and products that I've seen at other stores but somehow they are arranged in a way that showcase their "purchase-ability". They always seasonally decorate and I enjoy it more than other Christmas displays. The pink tree and sparkling adornments really spark imagination and fuel gift giving ideas. They sell clothes, beauty items, boutique toys, homeware, stationery, candles, jewelry and even desserts up front. As you would expect, everything is quite pricey. Similar to many other reviews, the staff are not the warmest or friendliest people. I've asked a question or two and did not get the most helpful of responses but have experienced open rudeness either. I do look forward to stopping by when I'm in the area and I do think it's a high quality store, albeit quite bougie.

There was a hole in my heart after Juma cafe/boutique closed during the COVID-times. Enter Two Cafe…read more& Boutique, a cozy, family-friendly cafe and local goods shop. But not only that - it's also the training center for a nonprofit dedicated to job training and career readiness for people with exceptionalities. Chagrin Falls in winter time evokes in me sentiments of hearth and home, which Two captures well in its brightly lit space and smiling employees. Parking is easy in the shared lot within the strip mall, but not so easily located from the street. Trust your GPS! The cute children's play area in the front of the shop makes it easy for busy parents/guardians to bring young children along, and there's a separate display case of vegan baked goods on display for those with dietary limitations. The seating area is small but there are several tables along the wall for diners directly across from the counter. I ordered a vegan loaf cake and Gojiccino (reported by the cashier to be the only place in Ohio that serves this!) to enjoy with a friend. Our drinks were brought out to our table in short order. Both were good, but in drink form the goji berry flavor was overwhelmed by vanilla and milk. The pretty pink color is unique though! I wish I had more time to browse the boutique next door, and certainly was tempted by the handmade candles and other kitchen-ware sold at the front of the store. If Chagrin Falls was a closer stop for me, I'd be coming back as a regular!
