Decent amount of parking along this section of Solano Ave. Staff were very friendly and attentive, a very nice dining experience. Goat curry- I got the lunch special goat curry, which came on a cafeteria tray with a side of salad and some dipping sauce.I like the texture of goat, it is firmer and more gamy than lamb. The curry was flavorful and the meat was well marinated too. However, the portion of the meat is way too small. The rice and naan are pretty good, but again, the portion is on the small side. The dipping sauce was good too. Although the lunch special is served on a tray and looks big, the portion is actually not that much. Although the quality of each component is good, it is actually not cheap given the small size. Maybe I will come back for group dinner, and order from the actual menu for better portion sizes. read more

Came here again for a family meal and ended up spending around $80 for a fam of 4. We ordered the chicken chowmein, chicken momos, paapad, the vegan/gluten free potato cauliflower curry (aloo cauli) and another vegan/gf curry that tasted just like the aloo cauli. I ate the vegan/gf stuff and would recommend the aloo cauli; however, as a vegan and gf, I have to say that I don't think Everest kitchen is worth the cost. I can get twice the amount of curry at House of Curries up solano, or Cafe Raj up the block. The size of the curry bowls are like small individual soup bowls, so quite small, and the taste is nothing special. Service was good but the food took a while to arrive. Overall, there are lots of gluten free options and a good amount of vegan options. There are also a good amount of vegan/gluten free options, so anyone with dietary restrictions can feel comfortable here. Price is high for the amount of food so be ready if you have a family of big eaters. read more

I swear I never knew there was a this restaurant with Jhol momo because I am a big fan haha. Chowmein was great too but it more tasted like a Chinese style instead of Nepali style. Ordered here from Uber EATS. Possibly one of the worst Indian food I've ever had (even taking into account that it was delivery). Garlic naan was a bit soggy (but that was expected), and surprisingly still delicious. The issue was with the Chicken Tikka Masala, which essentially had no flavor. I'm almost curious to see if they forgot to add an ingredient because it actually didn't taste like anything except butter. The chicken cutlet was stiff, bordering hard. It also lacked flavor, and at first, I thought it might've even been paneer. It's a shame because I've loved just about every Indian food in the area; my bar for Indian food isn't high since it's one of my favorite cuisines. This place has been one of our favorite resteraunts in the Berkeley area for years now. Our absolute favorite place for indian food, even comparable to what we had in the UK. We always get chicken momo, lamb vindaloo, samosas, cheese Naan, honey Naan, and chaia. Anything they make with pumpkin is also fabulous. And the gulab jamun is so yummy. Good food but DON'T ORDER DELIVERY. We ordered dinner on Eat 24 at 7:15 this evening - it's now 9PM and there's been no sign of our food. I called and got nothing but excuses like "We're really busy". We could have walked to the restaurant, ordered, eaten, and returned by now. I suggested they take their restaurant off the service if they can't fulfill their orders. UPDATE: our dinner did finally arrive around 9:15, along with a peace offering of a free mango lassie (which, sadly we couldn't eat, due to dietary restrictions). The food was quite good. Spicy Paneer tikka masala with brown rice wasn't as spicy as I hoped but at least I could taste all the flavor of the Paneer and the tikka masala sauce it prolly would've been better with bread instead of brown rice but oh well there's always next time. I adore Everest Kitchen. I could eat here every week. The food covers a whole rainbow of spice profiles, and their delicious cucumber potato side dish is something I haven't found at other Indian restaurants. The chicken momos are absolutely fragrant with cardamom and the dipping sauce they comes with is creamy and tart. The chana masala tastes so cozy like autumn and the sauce for the chicken tikka masala is more spoonable and less rich (which I think is a plus) than I've found at other Indian restaurants. Somehow they always manage to balance fragrance with heat in their dishes in a way that perfectly suits my palate, though I'm sure this is subjective. I also love the variety of vegetable-centered dishes (cauliflower, garbanzo beans, pumpkin). I don't eat out all that often but I've found myself ordering from this place more often than any other during the pandemic. They've always gotten my order right no matter how enormous (I love to have leftovers), and they've packaged it so carefully and always with a kind thank-you note on the bags. They are conscious of their packaging materials and use paper cups, paper straws, and paper bags avoiding plastic as much as possible, although they do use plastic containers for their sauce-y dishes to ensure that they don't leak. I have a bad habit of only reviewing places I loved or hated, but oh well. Went here on a Groupon. Have to say I was very impressed. Service was really friendly and prompt. They offer brown basmati rice, which is a rare treat. The rice is included with the entree by the way. The meal started with a free lentil soup. What a nice touch! The menu indicates what's vegan, gluten free and vegetarian. Very helpful. Vegetable pakora was excellent and not crazy. I think it had potatoes and onions. Nice texture; very well done. Pharsi ra Chana ko Tarkari (pumpkin curry with channa) was really wonderful. What an outstanding, unique flavor. I confirmed there was no added sugar (natural sweetness of the pumpkin). Nice to have a Nepali dish in a Himalayan restaurant. It's similar but slightly different from Indian food. They wrap up your leftovers for you too, which is a nice touch. Plus, he gave me extra white rice for free because they were running low on brown. That was nice. There are dozens of Indian/Nepali restaurants in Oakland/Berkeley/Albany area, and I've been to a lot of them, so trust me when I say this one is truly worth your time. read more

Alright! So I need to do another update because......I just ate another awesome dish! Veggie Kofta Masala, paired with garlic naan and rice and this would be a dish to come back for everytime. The veggie balls are soft, flavorful and absolutely matches with the masala sauce. It's a simple dish and simple presentation but packs a wallop and I recommend just hogging it all for yourself and not share hahaha! Okay so I'm not one for spicy food but this place was awesome! I love the food and it was a great dinner experience! The staff were courteous and attentive. I love the ambience since it was a nice peaceful and quiet place to eat. I ordered half a plate and it was the perfect portion for me. My partner and my friend both ordered the same plate but one was spicier than the other.
