This was my first visit here to Momo Masala and being an avid lover of Momo I have high expectations and the flavors of all the food were perfect and beat my expectations by miles! The momo were fresh and so delicious as well as the chicken chow mein and the butter chicken. The owner asked me and my gf when we first walked in if we were vegetarian or meat eaters and I've never felt more validated as a customer! The flavors were on point and the veggies were fresh and the owner was explaining some menu items to us and I felt more knowledgeable about my choices after she had finished; the atmosphere is small but cozy and the owner works so hard every day to provide fresh and delicious food. If you are on the Euclid side of Cal Berkeley campus check out this establishment trust me you won't be disappointed! I will be coming back again in the near future, this has made my top 10 restaurants list.

Saag Paneer

A Berkeley classic! So close to campus and usually not super full. This is definitely a local hack given how many bad restaurants there are near campus. I almost don't want to post this because im afraid it might draw too many customers and then I'll have to wait in longer lines! This is terrific Himalayan cuisine. The place is small but pleasant.

Mango Lassi

Cute little mom and pop shop Indian/Napoli food place in the alley way across from subway. So good!! Chicken biryani 5/5 Chicken tikka masala 5/5 Lamb platter 5/5 Mango lassi 3/5 - it was good but not use to it. It's more yogurt based. Roti - this roti is diff from Indian roti/stone oven. Chicken mono with sauce - 3/5, it was good but didn't taste different than Chinese dumplings. The sauce is interesting though. Would definitely come back.

Paneer chili

I decided to venture up to the north side of campus to give this place a try, and ordered in person at the restaurant (they are on Snackpass, though, if you want to order ahead for pickup). I got paneer chili because I'm a huge paneer fan, and then went to wait at some other benches because they had projected an 18 minute wait. But one of the workers (probably an owner) actually went looking for me since I didn't come back in a timely fashion, so I appreciated they actually went to extra effort to make sure I got my order. It does have real chilis which are actually way beyond my very sad level of spice tolerance, so that made it a bit harder to eat the parts that had chili seeds. There's also bell peppers and a large amount of white rice, though, and I did enjoy the flavoring and the paneer overall.

Nice ambiance and warm service. Food : we ordered johl chicken momos and steamed chicken momo, they were kinda bland but I'm glad I didn't taste that much msg. The momos are big in portion and hand wrapped. I appreciate the sauce and the light broth. I really like the menu and their interior. It gives a very cozy feelings. The owners are also super nice and caring. We will definitely come back to try more items!

Lamb curry

Great little spot right near Berkeley. Not a lot of places in these shoes open later on Saturdays. I went by around 6 and most places already closed. Very unassuming place with friendly staff. Only a few tables but you can use the ones in the common area outside. The lamb curry was delicious. If you ask nicely they may add a Nepalese pepper to your dish if you want it spicy. It's got a good kick but great flavor. Would definitely recommend

Pork chili

Love momo Masalas! Have been many times and had to stop back once again when I was in the area. My favorite is the Jhol momo but the pork chili is always a fantastic option!

Biryani

The staff here is really friendly and caring, and if you're looking to grab a quick bite on Northside, Momo Masalas is as good of an option as any. The portions are generally huge. I usually don't go for rice dishes at restaurants, but their biryani is great - so flavorful!

after attending classes, i found myself on north side wanting to explore what it had to offer in terms of the food scene. while looking around, momo masalas caught my eye because of the colorful and welcoming interior and delicious smelling food. the person taking my order was so sweet and had a motherly aura to her, asking me about what i wanted and answering all my questions. the store itself was quite small, but had plenty of seating to grab a quick bite! i definitely want to stop by again to try their momos, which i didn't get to do in this trip -- -- -- pictured: " butter chicken ($17.63) // when i first heard the price, i thought it was a bit steep, but understood the pricing once i received my meal. along with the extremely creamy and decadent butter chicken, they also gave a side of rice, aloo gobi (stir friend cauliflower and other veggies), and dal (spiced stew made of split peas/lentils). the butter chicken was super thick (slightly too thick for my liking) but extremely flavorful and yummy:) -- -- -- definitely give this place a shot if you're looking for quick bite of authentic nepalese and indian cuisine

Chicken momo and matar paneer with rice

This place is so freakin' good! The food is exquisite! The portions may seem small for the price, but it's super filling for both body and soul! Highly recommend the momos (dumplings) johl (served in a curry soup), which is usually what I get. I recently decided to venture away from the momos and got a matar paneer that was absolutely divine. Super excited to explore the rest of the menu! Super convenient if you're on the north/east side of UCBerkeley - one of my favorite lunch spots! Seating is limited, so you may have to wait or take your food to-go.

This Momo sauce is so good!

Tucked away among various other small eateries on the Northside of campus, Momo Masalas is serving up exactly what you'd think: delicious momos! I placed my order for takeout online and my order was hot and ready right on time. Service was friendly when I picked up too! Their veggie momos were flavorful and delicious. Absolutely no complaints. Their aloo govi was the same. I only wish there was more of it! Really solid Indian/Nepalese spot in North Berkeley. Try 'em out! Found parking across the street on Hearst, which made it really easy to hop in and out quick.

Something I always like to start off with on their menu is their hot chai tea. It's hot and creamy with just the right amount of warm spices on a cold day in the winter. It also wakes me right up. Everything that we've ordered has been delicious, esp. the nimki chaat, dal, and spicy tofu. Their papad is also tasty and great for snacking if you're not too hungry. The service is always great, whether they are busy or not. Food always comes out promptly and they always check upon us to make sure everything is alright. I've spent hours at this place catching up with my friend, even after we're done eating, and they've never hinted at us to leave :) Highly recommend if you're looking for a cozy spot with amazing food and great staff.

For small plates, I ordered samosas, pani puri, and veggie fritters. Loved it all especially the pani puri- crispy shells with chickpeas in them. Yumm! For entree we ordered chicken tikka masala with plain naan and white rice. My son won't eat the garlic naan which I would have preferred. The samosas were good except they were big so one was good for me. I didnt realize their size until it came to our table. One order was two large samosas. Oops. Tikka masala was good but I found it to be more stewy than thick, which is my preference. I like to eat masala with naan and this is when I wished I ordered garlic naan, but I didn't want to over- order. Overall, I'm definitely returning. Place was yummy and the vibe is beautiful and friendly.

We've ordered to-go from here several times, but this was the first time we've sat down and had a meal in-person. There's nothing like warm Naan bread, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Saag Paneer on a cold day. So delicious. And of course, a Mango Lassi for the kiddo. They also tried the Rice Pudding for dessert and a cup of the Dal soup..what a spread we had. The staff is so kind, and we truly had such a wonderful dinner shared together. You can tell they put so much heart into their dishes and the community that comes to support them. We can't wait to come back and try the Momos, Tandoori Special Kebabs, and the Chowmein (with egg!) There's an incredible amount of veggie dishes and vegetarian dishes here too. Not too bad on the wallet. A fun, local find for any occasion.
