A bit of a hidden gem in one of the medical buildings in White Rock. I've been spending quite a bit of time out in White Rock the last few months and have now probably been to every coffee shop in the area. Everbean is a wonderful hidden gem. Parking is a bit weird since there aren't any side streets or a designated lot, but I managed to find some residential parking towards the back to leave my car for 15 minutes. This isn't a standalone coffee shop, it's more so a large coffee stand within the medical building. The staff are extremely friendly and were probably some of the chattiest people I've talked with this year. Menu-wise, they have an assortment of coffees, teas, baked goods, and sandwiches. I decided to go for my usual - iced americano and a breakfast burrito. They have a few tables indoors and a cute patio set up and since it was a nice day, I sat outside. When my order was ready, they came and brought it outside for me and I got to enjoy my meal in the sunshine. The coffee was strong and and hit the spot, just the way I like it, and the breakfast burrito was tasty and filling. I've only been here once, but definitely would like to come back and try other baked goodies and treats. Thank you, Everbean!

Hot Chocolate Festival 2020 - Lucky Orange

We stopped by for the Hot Chocolate Festival. This is a cafe located in a medical building. We managed to find parking in the busy underground parking lot. The cafe is next to a pharmacy. There was plenty of seating available when we stopped by in the afternoon. There were two flavours to choose from and I picked the Lucky Orange. It was an orange flavoured hot chocolate which is a classic option. A orange dark chocolate dipped fortune cookie was served alongside. Pop rocks topped the fortune cookie which represented firecrackers for the Chinese New Year. I thought that was a great analogy. Service was friendly and efficient. The cafe ambiance is open and modern. However, it felt like I was in a lobby of the medical building as you see people walking to the pharmacy or going to the elevator.

Situated in a medical building in White Rock, Everbean Cafe is a hidden gem. I'm not a fan of going to the doctor and I see this cafe as a reward for taking care of myself. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They take the time to chat while managing to pump out coffee orders efficiently. They take care with the finishing touches on their beverages (which can often be seen splashed across Instagram by coffee lovers alike). They have a nice variety of sandwiches, pastries and baked goods. Everything is fresh and flavorful. While they do offer indoor seating, in the good weather, they also have a patio where you can enjoy your beverage outside taking in the fresh air. Not sure what to order? The staff are great at answering questions and making recommendations. Their seasonal menus always offer tempting delights and they have made it a safe, clean space to enjoy a latte even in these Covid-weary times.

The best coffee and sandwiches in White Rock! They use really good ingredients for their food items and coffee is 49th parallel :)) highly recommended to check out this place!

Awesome coffee shop tucked away near Peace Arch Hospital in the Hilltop clinic building. They serve parallel 49 coffee and offer tons of coffee variations (ie. pour over, espresso based drinks etc). They also serve Erin Ireland's to die for Vegan goods, which are AMAZING. There were lots of other baked goods that catered to different diets, and they do offer soups and sandwhiches which looked yummy. The only downside is I find it the prices pretty steep, it was close to $8 for a pour over and a cookie. However they are a local business which Id rather support over Starbucks!

The cultural lineage of this place is certainly interesting, since from what I understand, this is…read morethe only Canadian location of an Indian restaurant from Japan. The restaurant is beautiful with both Indian and Japanese design sensibilities. They have a table service restaurant with both high tea and an extensive a la carte menu, and it looks like you can also buy mithai in bulk. The food isn't really Japanese-Indian fusion as you might expect, but more like Japanese impression of Indian food, if that makes sense? There's a few hints of Japanese and Asian influence, but the menu is mostly modern Indian. All vegetarian. There's no vegan or gluten free options for afternoon tea, but the a la carte menu includes many clearly labeled vegan and GF dishes. I wanted to try the afternoon tea set to get a wide sampling of their offerings. The set included: corn spinach puff, paneer tikka slider, cream cheese cucumber sandwich, samosa, chutneys for dipping, manchurian skewers, orange cranberry scone with whipped cream, rose rasmalai cake, dodha crunch, motichoor cheesecake parfait, and the choice between masala chai, coffee, or hot/iced caffe latte. It's $32/person for the set, which is a great price. I also appreciated that it was possible to order the set for just one person since it seems like many teahouses will only do it for 2+ people. I thought all of the items in the set were pretty good, and there was a balance between the sweet and savoury items. The only things that really left anything to be desired were that the scone was a bit dry and crumbly, and I thought the tandoori paneer could have been more flavourful. In general the flavours of the savoury items were a bit more subtle than in typical authentic Indian food, but for the most part it didn't come across as bland to me, just a different take on it. The standouts in the set were: the paneer slider - even if the paneer itself didn't impress, I loved the almost flaky texture of the pav - the manchurian, and the rose rasmalai cake. Also, the cream cheese cucumber sandwich had cilantro or chutney or something in the cream cheese which made it much more interesting than the plain version of this sandwich. The masala chai (my chosen drink) was also very good. It was served in a pot that contained 2 small servings. My waiter was very friendly and stopped by a few times to check in. When I was done eating and wanted my bill, it was easy to get his attention. I visited at what seemed like a quiet time so I didn't have much competition for attention. One thing that I thought was odd was when he gave me the machine to pay, there was no tip option - it would be cool if they had a no-tip policy, but I never saw any mention of it, so I wonder if he accidentally bypassed the tip when putting in my charge. It was an interesting and very pleasant experience. I was so curious about this place that I made a trip out from Vancouver just to try it (and couldn't get anyone willing to go to Surrey for afternoon tea with me, hence the afternoon tea order for one), and it was worth the trip!

If you're someone who loves afternoon tea but doesn't love spending $70 + per person for afternoon…read moretea then Tokyo Mithaiwala has an afternoon tea set that might interest you. For only $32 per person you can experience a Christmas Afternoon Tea set that won't break the bank and will leave you with more money in your pocket to go do some Christmas shopping after you've had your tea! I really enjoyed the Red Pepper Hummus & Vegetable Sandwich, and the Vegetable Skewer turned out to be surprisingly delicious! There are sweets too of course, and for your drink you can choose from standard beverages such as Chai Latte and Earl Grey tea, or opt for something a bit more exotic like the Rose Elaichi Latte which is an interesting mix of rose and cardamom flavors. The food that is served here is heavily influenced by Indian cuisine. I came here last year for the regular afternoon tea and while I enjoyed it overall back then, there was at least one item back then that didn't agree with me as it had cilantro in it and I happen to have a huge aversion to cilantro. This time, nothing had cilantro in it. The vegetable skewer was garnished with cilantro but for my particular skewer, it was very easy for the kitchen to simply leave out the garnish. In all honesty, the food here isn't exactly 5 star quality. If you're someone with very refined taste buds, this place may not be for you. The matcha scone for example didn't quite have the right texture for us, and was served with a sweet whipping cream as opposed to the clotted cream that is served in more traditional style afternoon teas. I think everyone at our table would have preferred clotted cream. However, I think that this place is an excellent option for anyone who is on a budget and perhaps, less picky with their food. It is beautifully presented and in this day and age, when so many other places are charging an arm and a leg for afternoon tea, (especially the holiday themed ones) $32 is an incredible deal. There is also a regular menu to order from if you're in the mood for something other than afternoon tea. NB: The entire menu is Vegetarian. We got: MANGO BINGSOO -the best of the bunch. They used sweet Manila mangoes so they were sweet and delicious. Will be my go -to from this point on STRAWBERRY BINGSOO - it was okay. The strawberries were not as sweet so maybe it would be better during strawberry season (whenever that is)? OREO BINGSOO - pretty good. My nephew liked it a lot CHEESECAKE BINGSOO - skip it. You get 4 tiny slices of cheesecake to the side and some crumbs on top that were pretty good but just didn't pack as much flavor as the others we had.

Expected it to be a small place serving some desserts but this place is huge and had a very young vibe! We looked around and everyone was digging into a big tub spooning out it's "shaved ice" like contents into small bowls and enjoying it. That's what I want i decided. It was Bingsoo! So delicious!! It comes in fruit flavours among others and we opted for strawberry bingsoo but I saw everyone going for a mango one. The bingsoo came in a big tub like bucket which had ice cream in the middle , ice on top and it was covered with strawberries and topped with whipped creme . We enjoyed it and it was frankly a little too much for 3 of us. We also tried the Nutella filled pancakes which were flaky and light! Definitely worth trying. We were pleasantly surprised that they offer guests access to their full drink menu including their specials. Ube matcha was good, but had a hint of cinnamon which we could have gone without. The matcha mango was also good. The blackberry lavender matcha was too floral for our liking. However, eventually you get used to it and then it becomes more enjoyable. The pandesals were super fresh and we loved both the ube and strawberry butters that came with it. I wish that they came a bit warmer, so that the butters could have melted a touch. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 sandwiches. I especially loved the arugula on the mozerella sandwich. The blackberry brie sandwich could have used a touch more brie, but was still delicious. The cheesecakes were good, but a bit too sweet. The strawberry was my favorite. I enjoyed tasting multiple flavors. Their red velvet cupcake was extremely moist. The pistachio malasada was cute and flavorful. The filling to pastry ratio was good. I think that the experience could have been better balanced if there were a few more savory items. One thing that we noticed was that all of the pastries including the malasada were cold. I can understand that there are some food safe requirements that need to be met in how desserts are stored. However, letting them sit out for even 20-30 minutes before consumption would have been better.
