It took a couple of tries, but they figured it out. They cannot be blamed for the recurrence though and they were exceedingly professional. Took my car there for a rattle I heard coming from the front end. Called me back with a estimate of 5500 dollars with things that had nothing at all to do with front end. I don't understand why they couldn't just focus on what I asked them to do. Anyway I told them I only want the rattle resolved in the front end, Called me back with a 3500 estimate which I knew some of the things were not causing this Issue. I agreed to this estimate anyway because I could tell they were just trying to make a good pay day and I didnt have time to fix myself. Picked the car up after work was completed and the rattle was STILL there but my bank account was now 3500 less. Completely unbelievable. They can't be trusted and gouge the customer. Typical Car Garage. I have taken my car to them out of necessity due to proximity a couple of times. I wasn't happy with the first time, because they gave my car back to me with the dashboard completely detached. I had to wait in the parking lot while a mechanic came back out and reattached it. I still paid full price, which is more than it should have been. The second time I went there, I gave explicit descriptions of a grinding occurring somewhere when accelerating - they said they identified the issue, "fixed it", then identified a leak in the coolant system I couldn't refute? They already had my car there so might as well have that fixed too. They "fixed that". I got my car back $1500 later. The main problem hadn't been fixe AT ALL. There still seems to be leak in the cooling system. When I called back to have this ridiculous time and money waste corrected, they offered nothing but full charge for any more work. This place will do typical car garage things - look for opportunities to gouge you. And worse, they didn't fix a thing. Take your car here if it's relatively new and has small issues. Where to begin....... I was in Cincinnati visiting the family when my 18 year old Toyota started leaking antifreeze. Took it to Evan's who has been the long time family mechanic as far back as i can remember. Didn't even think twice about where to take it. 1. I paid $1035.62 for a radiator replacement and antifreeze. Afterwards I spoke with two Toyota dealerships and an independent shop and all 3 said I got taken to the proverbial cleaners. $550 just for an off brand radiator? Either they marked the price of the part way up and profitted on it or they don't do a good job procuring their parts vendors. (See invoice in pictures section). 2. I was charged for premium Toyota Red OEM antifreeze @ $30 per gallon ($60 total). I open the radiator cap once I got back to Indianapolis and what do i find? Green universal antifreeze. I wasn't too worried that green was put in my Toyota, but rather that they used cheap green and charged me for $60 worth of Toyota Red Antifreeze. When I called Brian at Evan's Auto Care he gave me some excuse about how it was a sister vendor of Toyota and it's the same spec. That's false. That doesn't exist. Don't use $5-$10 worth of bulk green and charge me for $60 worth of the Toyota Red. 3. I asked them to do an oil change while they were at it. Brian and I had a discussion about how my 18 year old Toyota has been running conventional for it's whole life so it would be a bad decision to put synthetic oil into it now. We agreed on a conventional oil change. When i took a hard look at the invoice i see that they put in and charged me for synthetic oil. I called Brian and asked him about it. He gave me a run around answer and assured me that they used conventional. Okay, so once again why are you charging me for premium fluids and putting in the cheap stuff? 4. Three days and 150 miles after I got the service and i had returned home to Indianapolis, i noticed the truck was leaking antifreeze. I took it to my local shop here in Indy and the diagnosis is that the radiator was either faulty or it was damaged when it was installed by Evans. Great, so not only was i taken to the cleaners, but the overpriced radiator didn't even make it a week. My Indy shop replaced my radiator, put on a new cap, flushed out my block, put in new antifreeze, add in labor, and the total cost out the door was $484.19 (see invoice in pictures section) That's $551 less than Evans and they did extra work and parts. Looking back on it i should have made better decisions. Get it towed back to Indy with my AAA membership? Throw in a bottle of bars leak radiator leak stopper? One thing is for sure though, this is not the same Evan's auto care that my parents took their vehicles to while i was growing up in Cincinnati. I was taken advantage of, lied to, made to feel dumb over the phone, and then the overpriced part/service failed. Evan's is no longer a family based small independent trustworthy shop. They've hit the big time with their fancy new 10 bay garage and now operate as a true corporation. Don't forget the loyal patrons who helped get you to where you are today. read more

I have a relatively young Kia Optima and the dealer wants me to believe I need to go to their shop for scheduled maintenance. I used the dealer's website to see what needed to be done and how much it would cost. I then decided to take it back to Evan's Auto Care instead. They did what was required based on mileage and told me the cabin and other filters did not need changed. This saved me about $200 over the dealer. I trust them to do what is needed and nothing more. We have been taking our cars to Evans ever since moving to Blue Ash five years ago. They're super nice and they do a good job. They're slightly more spendy than other places, but still usually less than the dealer. And it's worth it to know your car is in good hands. They have several loaner cars, although they can't guarantee one will be available and the loaners are older. They'll also do drop-offs and pick-ups to nearby locations. read more

It's reeeeeealllllly tough to find a mechanic. It doesn't help that it's tough to get reviews about them. I mean, it's fairly cheap to take a risk and try a new restaurant. Plus I get hungry at least a few times a day, there is a near constant need for food. Thankfully my car needs work less frequently than I need food. So, all this is to say that I think I've found my mechanic in Cincinnati. The place is very clean and professional looking, there's about an 85% chance you'll be talking to the owner when you walk in, both Jim and Evan were good at listening to my experience with the car, explaining my car's problems to me once they opened it up, and trying to save me money during the repair. As near as I can tell the difference in my total cost was about $300 less than if I'd gone to a dealer. I've spent about 2 hours in their waiting room in my two trips in and they've got a rapport with every customer who comes in, the level of service must permeate the organization because a mechanic coming up front to get coffee asked me how I was doing while I was waiting. Evan and Jim put a fair markup on the headlight I was getting replaced, and did a massive amount of testing to try and figure out the failure mode (since it didn't just 'burn out'). After tracing it back to a bad ballast (an extremely expensive part), they were fine with me ordering the part online and installing it for me when it came in, this saved me over $100 (though like any place, they don't warranty other's parts). All an all i'm thrilled to have found them (was given the tip word-of-mouth from another of their presumably happy customers), I've only been in twice but I expect that I'll bump up my review if they continue their level of service on future trips. read more

Turn around now, and drive to Evan's. I was recently visiting the Cincinnati area, and needed a repair. I'd had to visit a repair shop here a couple of month earlier, and had patronized a neighborhood shop. My car was fixed, but I left feeling I'd been fleeced .Not so at Evan's; not only was the price right, the service was top notch. First off... you get an immediate feeling of integrity. All is communicated clearly, and they help you to truly understand what it is they are telling you. On top of that, I'd price shopped, (funny how only the really good shops will give you a phone quote) and they were equal or less than the others. Any mechanic can fix a car, but not any mechanic can not make you believe they care, Evan's did just that... simple, old fashioned caring. And did I mention a shuttle? My mother-in-law loaned me her BMW X5 to help with the move. My 16 month old daughter and I took off for Cincinnati in 1 degree weather. It was cold!!! I was warming up the car and noticed the orange check engine light came on and the temp gage was in the red, so I shut it off. I turned it back on and everything was fine. I figured it was just cold and all was ok so we hit the road. Just as we broke free of Chicago traffic and landed in Indiana the heater quit!!! Remember it's 1 degree outside and I have a baby. My dad always told me never to depend on electronics and computers so always travel with a map, blanket, candle, and a full book of matches. I grabbed the blanket, wrapped the babe up and continued on. We made it to Cincinnati unharmed. I instantly started to research repair shops and dealerships. I chose Evan's because it had nice reviews and was the closest shop. I went to the website to get the info and I discovered I could book the appointment online! Which is awesome but.... they were booked till friday and today was tuesday. What was I going to do with no car?? There wasn't even a grocery within walking distance!! I went a head and booked the appointment for friday. Bright and early Wednesday I get a phone call from Evan. He tells me to bring the car in ASAP and he will fit me in! I bundled up the babe and drove to the shop. The shop is very clean and there were all sorts of great amenities. He even had kid's books and toys! While I was giving all my information I overheard a conversation between Evan and another gentleman. The gentleman had a beautiful Porsche and was there to get maintenance. It seemed like the gentleman had been going there for years, which to me was a great sign. So there I am. Stranded. In freezing weather. With a baby. I wasn't in the shop all but 10 and here comes Evan, the owner, all bundled up. He looked at us and said are you ready to go. I will take you back to your hotel!! I grabbed the car seat. We secured it in the van and he drove us 20 minutes back to our hotel. On the drive we had a fantastic conversation. He was very kind and intelligent. I gave him the short story of our current situation. He asked me if I need to go to the grocery or needed to get some supplies. What?? He was going to give us a ride to the grocery?? What an incredible man! This is truly a family owned and operated business. This type of business everyone dreams and wishes all businesses were like. Talk about great first impressions. I have just moved to the area and was looking for a reliable mechanic for my 2008 BMW. I brought my car to Evan's with an issue regarding my oil level. I also asked them to look at my brakes (which I could hear a noise) and wheels. They were extremely fair and honest. I was told my brakes aren't ready for service yet, and that I shouldn't spend money on the wheels unless I noticed an issue with drivability (which I don't). After a few hours they called back with a way higher estimate than the other place I called, so decided to go with someone else . I cannot speak to whether this company can fix your car because they were so over-the-top pompous (with a side of sexist) on the phone when I called to ask for a quote on some wheel bearing work that I decided immediately never to give them our business. After asking me to describe the problem, he then asked if the vehicle had been inspected by a certified qualified technician. Well, not for this problem - that's why I'm calling you. He then harangued me that I should not be driving the car because the wheel sounded loose and might fall off. I assured him that the wheel was well-attached as my mechanically-oriented husband had already double checked that and was fairly confident that it really was the wheel bearings, but that in the meantime, the car IS sitting unused until we get the problem addressed. So I again asked for a general ball park estimate. Rather than simply give that to me for the proposed work, he began to quiz me on what I know about fixing cars - answers which of course I could not give. He then scolded again that I should let a qualified certified technician decide what was wrong with my car and then after I had brought it in, then they would give me an estimate. A vehicle which he already told me I should not be driving. Even then he still continued to lecture that customer diagnoses are wrong 75% of the time and would I like to set up an appointment for 8:00 a.m. tomorrow? No - I don't think I will. Now, the fact of the matter is that lay people probably are wrong 75% of the time. Most lay people cannot answer his quiz questions. But insulting people before they even become paying customers is usually wrongheaded 99% of the time. Evans - if you read this, your intake rep just lost you our business. My last service I was told that three out of four tire sensors needed to be replaced on my Lexus at the cost of $500. I took the car to the Lexus dealer. They turned off the electronics that said bad tire sensor and the tires have been fine for the pass year. Either an incompetent mechanic or trying to put one over on me. read more
