She said that she was running a bit late, so it was going to be 2:45 pm. I was good with the later time. The eatery that we had chosen is in the same plaza as this Fortinos. My eyes lit up when I feasted them on this store. It looked amazing from afar. I needed to get some groceries, so I decided to spend some time here before meeting up with my friend. I haven't been to a Fortinos in ages. Markham had one eons ago. Richmond Hill is my closest one these days. I haven't been there, either. I should go more often! I parked in a lot that felt like a lower level. I wasn't imagining things. This Fortinos has an elevator with parking available downstairs, too. Staff members were counting how many people were entering and exiting the store. I grabbed a cart and walked in. I was mesmerized by everything that I saw. I'm sure that if you looked at me, my eyes were wide open with excitement. There were huge meatballs and arancini balls at one stand. You could get a stir fry with noodles at another stand. The pizza slices looked so good! I completely stopped in front of the bakery. The most beautiful artisan breads were staring at me. It was carb love at first sight. Fortinos has never been a discount supermarket. However, the variety and quality are superb. I don't mind shelling out for fancy salad dressing, vine tomatoes, and sugar-free, lactose-free ice cream. I managed to get a package of ice cream sandwiches that were both sugar-free and lactose-free. It was heaven. I felt like I normal human being eating them! I love the beer section. I got a can of low-carb beer from Belgian Moon. Who knew? Staff were so friendly. One of them guided me to an open cashier. The woman was great cashing me out. I had an excellent shopping experience here. I would have spent hours at this store. Thank goodness I had to meet up with my friend. Otherwise, I would have been broke by now. It's huge, have almost everything you can crave. Pizza bar, fried food, espresso bar, the candy aisles! So much candy! The olives bar! Yumm. So many different types. Pane, vino, fruita! Seafood though is a ok. But you can get a lot of great stuff here. Their produce section is great. You can always spot a group of older gentleman arguing in Italian by the cafe/ olives bar. Everyone's yelling in Italian all over. It's an experience! Prices are quite high compared to the states but I was told its normal in Canada! Don't even think about getting flowers. It's insane! Seafood: insane! Fruits and vegetables are so fresh though. Pizzas, cured meat etc are cheaper here than the states. I don't mind their bread either. My family gets all their cakes ordered from here. I decided to order the Paul Martin turkey as I wanted the flavour to be similar to what I was used to. It was a tad cheaper per pound than the David Weber turkey which runs free and eats bugs. I think if they offered David's turkey in pieces I'd try that first to make sure I like the flavour before committing. So some tips in case you're a newbie like I was. You order a turkey in the size range and it's in reserve. However since they get what they get, the store can't guarantee you the exact size. So you gotta go in early. If you do that you can choose from the selection they have. If you go later, I went Saturday ( had been available for pickup since Thursday) then you'll get what's leftover. In my case I ordered a small but had a choice of extra small or large! The turkey itself is great tasting and I'd order again but with the knowledge that I should pick it up early so I have better choice of size. I ordered gravy which I was disappointed with, it's basically stock thicken with a roux. Instructions were to add it to my drippings! Next time I'll just buy some organic stock and thicken it myself. This is if you want extra gravy. Overall a good turkey.

When completed she put the stir fry in a container that already was half full of white rice. She then poured a pre measured container of sauce on top of everything then placed the top on the container. When I got home I poured everything in a mixing bowl then started to eat. The taste was unbelievably awful. Extremely salty and sweet. I ate about half of the serving and threw out what was left. I then glanced at the nutrition label that had been put on the container and was horrified at seeing the sodium content of around 1500 mg, and sugar level of approximately 25mg. I quickly drank 2 large glasses of water to help dilute the sodium. They should have a sign for nutritional values somewhere in the stir fry area.

I have tried their falafel as a plate and as a sandwich and it's amazing. Grab a bottle of sinalco or mission with it. Place is tidy and clean, booths are spacious. This is one of the few places that sells samouneh and tandoori bread. I strongly recommend that you grab both to go. The convenient store is cozy, plenty of Assyrian and Iraqi items. Overall an amazing nostalgia trip for me. I strongly recommend it. And I'm surely coming back.
