    Vanilla Birthday Sprinkle Cake

I don't normally shop at Fortinos because it's a bit out of the way from me. I actually love their pizzas a lot from time to time! While planning my upcoming birthday, my friend mentioned they have cute cakes. Pair this with inspiration from Mary T's recent review + being in the area for an appointment, I decided to stop by to see if I could find the perfect cake. The store is big, spacious, and bright. I stopped in around 10am and it was pretty empty. I was on a mission to get to the bakery which is conveniently in the first section as you walk in. It was nice being here early because the shelves were fully stocked - if they added any more fresh bread to the rack I swear it would have toppled over. The smell of fresh baked goodies was essentially heaven. I saw a cake I was interested in and asked the employee behind the questions: - Does this come in a smaller size? - Does this smaller cake with come in different designs? The answer to both were no, but I'm not mad about it, I simply wanted to know what my options were and she was so very helpful! It just makes such a difference when staff are pleasant and willing to help. This store is located in a large plaza which also has underground parking for free if you need that - I bet in the rain/snow this is a popular choice.

Fortinos would be my ideal version of heaven. I've never been disappointed by a trip here, and I always leave with a ton of goodies. The staff is so knowledgeable and helpful- they'll listen to the meat and cheese flavor profiles you like and give you taste after taste until you find the perfect one that you're looking for. It's a good thing this is about a 30 minute drive from where we live, otherwise we'd probably stop in daily. Definitely worth a trip if you haven't been! If pizza is your thing you have to take a trip just for that . Wow huge pizza bar with gourmet pies If you want the best of the beat this is the place .

This is one of 2 Fortinos in Oakville. This one is newer of the two. Good place to shop, plenty of parking, cleaner store, well organized.

They have the best and widest selection of foods in the salad bar and hot food station. All the dishes are fresh and delicious. There are plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and pescetarian options (e.g. 3-4 different kinds of salmon, curry cauliflower, roasted vegetables, brussels sprouts, roasted potatoes, various legumes, tofu, tempeh, etc.). All the produce items are top-notch in terms of quality and freshness. They also have a great selection of items that are not as easily found in other mainstream supermarket chains, such as a wider variety of hummus and tempeh selection, an extensive bulk foods section (including nuts, grains, and beans), and other organic, vegan, and specialty items.

Especially during the first round of lockdown in March/April, you can tell their COVID-19 plans were carefully thought out. Line up outside with stanchions, must wear a mask and provided masks to those who didn't have one (before it was mandatory), clearly marked aisle directions, plexi-glass where necessary. It's safe to say I feel comfortable and safe to go here when I need to. I will say, however, my most recent visit did not have a lineup outside the store but I found it pretty busy inside! The meat and fish selection is always fresh and abundant. In particular, we enjoy picking up oysters - and they will shuck them for you if you ask! Pre-covid times saw me frequenting the hot and cold bar for quick but quality lunchtimes. Unfortunately, this area is being used for flow water and dry flax storage (as it should). But! You can grab some of the items from the hot bar in the fridge area, so it's nice to see they are making up for what I assume was a lucrative spot in the store. I also enjoy the beauty/vitamin/supplement/home area (I like a lot of things ok), as it provides a sense of calm and overall is a nice experience to browse the unique options they carry.

Every time I come here I find that the average demographic leans a bit older so I'd like to share with younger people especially if you like to cook with hard to find ingredients. This place is especially great if you love making Italian dishes and baked goods like me and don't want to drive all the way out towards Mississauga and spend more than anticipated at other specialty stores, or even somewhere like Fortino's where you get charged an arm and a leg for certain produce and meat. Everything here is so fresh, and I love that they sell their prepared handmade pasta at the hot table for CHEAP. I got one serving of their handmade tortellini in alfredo sauce for just $6.99 and I was able to make two meals out of it without any extra sides or drinks. I haven't tried anything else because they had already closed most of the hot table when I got the tortellini but what was still out looked really good. Their desserts are pretty good too, I prefer their cookies over their cakes as I feel I've had better elsewhere, but nonetheless have a great selection with good pricing as well. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area, I feel like even if you came in without the intention of buying something, you'll still manage to make a purchase of some sort lol.

I purchased from their hot food counter which is basically a Chinese food restaurant. The food was actually tasty and relatively cheap... definitely an easy stop on the way home if you know dinner isn't made. On my second and third visits though... unfortunately the rude customer service staff at the front lost them a star. At bare minimum say hello, thank you or smile. Throwing my receipt at me and pointing instead of replying doesn't work for me, as they spoke to each other about their weekend plans. It's also always a bit difficult as well when the majority of staff throughout the store doesn't speak English. Not the end of the world... I did get many steps in trying to find items myself! Lol All in all though, when I'm in town this store will very likely be a stop every time. Pros: Location (Derry Road & Bronte in Milton) in an outdoor plaza, store layout, cleanliness, selection of items, hot food menu station & taste, prices Cons: Staff (they can work on that), parking can be tricky when they're busy

Review for only the bakery section, not the grocery department…read more I gave the Adonis baked goods section a try as they had a wide selection of cookies, full sized cakes, and treats, and I love pistachio flavoured sweets, which they had lots of. Since it was right after the holidays they had small and medium gift packages of cookies, and cookies individually are priced by weight, though there was frequent lack of signage to tell what the cookies were or what they cost. I opted to try some cake slices prior to getting a whole cake of the same flavour. I got the pistachio swiss roll and pistachio cake slice, and the staff had mentioned the rectangular cake slice would taste more strongly of pistachio. I tried both at home and the swiss roll has a stronger pistachio taste, both were kind of weak tasting, but that is not the issue at hand. Both the cake and swiss roll were tough and stale, to the point where grocery store frozen cake tastes better. Even those $5 or $6 vanilla cakes at Walmart are not this hard. The cream, the sponge cake, all of it was old and rubbery. Save yourself the pain and get cake somewhere else. I felt like I was eating fake wax food instead of real cake. I'm really disappointed as their bakery section is huge and seemed to have a lot to offer, but I've been burned and am reluctant to try their other sweets.
