Been to some great dive bars but this was not one of them. the bartender was this tall white dude who seemed unhappy and gave terrible service. There was also very clearly some operation happening outside where "homeless people" that were clearly just grifters kept getting sent to try and hassle people at the front door. I know for a fact that these people weren't actually homeless - as a homeless person wouldn't have left as soon as I looked them in the eye and called them a fake, they would've just called me an asshole and moved on about tryna get by. The fact that people kept fucking off and replaced by new ones everytime I clocked the hustle means I am correct - there was a shakedown operation happening out front. All the while? There was only one security guard - and all he did was check ID's. I'm sure the dude would've done more if he was properly equipped though. Y'all sincerely need to get your shit together. With that said, this place is not for everyone. Sadly it was frustrating alone dealing with the parking situation. I parked so far away! The other room was 100% line dancing that if you didn't know it, you stayed off the dance floor and stand in place. There's a bull riding area that I saw a professional bull rider do tricks and that was cool and they intimidating. The drinks were really good and not overpriced! Star for that! We love traveling to different line dancing communities, experiencing new places, and connecting with people through dancing. That's what makes situations like this so upsetting. Everyone deserves to feel welcomed and respected, regardless of their religion or appearance. The line dance world is a very connected community, and experiences like this naturally get talked about. The drinks were affordable and strong, which was a definite plus. However, my main issue with The Lodge is the seating situation near the stage. If you're sitting in front, be prepared for people to stand directly in front of you during the drag show. I would've preferred if the drag queens, owner, or even security had stepped in to ask them to move. It was frustrating to have 6-foot-tall, 300-pound women completely block our view--especially after paying $18 per ticket. Also, watch out for this one wild white lady in a black shirt and floral shorts who acts invisible and blocks multiple people. If you ask her politely to move, she'll argue with you and even try to escalate things by telling you to "step outside" like she's about that life. Overall, for our first drag show, we had fun--but if you're going to enjoy the performance, be ready to be annoyed because no one there is enforcing basic courtesy or crowd control. The music really didn't vibe with my soul at first but by the second glass of white wine I was feeling the inner Shakira in me come out. Two wrap around tables away there sat a mighty build of a man in a fedora. Me being so shy naturally decided to show him that my hips don't lie from a distance slowly making my way closer. I knew his attention was locked in on me. This was my cinderella moment. He came to me and said "dam ma you really be moving" his garlic knot breath misted me but it might as well been the smell of roses he pulled me close as a slow dance came on and we danced. It was an out of body experience. After the dance I excused myself to the restroom to "powder thy nose" as I was alone in there for a min the man I was falling for walked in. He approached me and I thought I was going to have a high school love moment and be kissed. But to my surprise he moved me to the side and went into the handicapped stall and shut the door. As the person I thought was a man was using the restroom. He came out of the restroom and proceeded to wash his hands and make friendly conversation. I guess the look on my face let him know that I had questions. So he then proceeded to tell me that he is ACTUALLY a SHE. I quickly excused myself to gather my thoughts. I sat in the purple velvet couch by myself and just watched the world pass me by. When my newfound female dance partner approached me and sat adjacent. Putting a seemingly manly paw on my leg she looked me in the eyes and at that moment I knew. I was gay. I thank you Dance Mania Singles for showing me the way to be gay.

We ended up parking on the street for only $3 since we arrived early to grab dinner nearby. The entry line was super long and literally went around the block but it moved surprisingly fast. Staff was friendly and helpful at the door. The inside was dark when we arrived and it would've been nice to have some house lights so people could find their way around the venue a little easier. The AC was cranking and the temp was comfortable. Upstairs has standing room and some bleachers which provides a good view with less of a crowd.
