Let me start by saying this is a positive 3 star review and I'm not trying to destroy this establishment. Everyone was so nice and it's really a big and cool layout. With that said, this place is not for everyone. Sadly it was frustrating alone dealing with the parking situation. I parked so far away! Next, there was a band playing music, cool, but don't know any of their songs or the covers they were doing. The other room was 100% line dancing that if you didn't know it, you stayed off the dance floor and stand in place. There's a bull riding area that I saw a professional bull rider do tricks and that was cool and they intimidating. The drinks were really good and not overpriced! Star for that! This is a fun spot to square dance or salsa the night away! The staff organize entrance well and security is tight. The music is loud and heard well on the dance floor, the instructors are friendly and encouraging to get people on the dance floor. Just be prepared to be swept off your feet by pros! Bar service is fast and smooth, restrooms are clean and organized. One way to improve service would be to tighten security so that people aren't recklessly rude and pushing people away from tables. read more

I had a great time Wednesday night at Cancun Cantina. It was ladies night and so I got $5 bottomless drinks all night long. They had lots of line dancing, and the people were a wide range of ages, but also friendly and willing to give tips and tricks and help me learn the way. This was my first time there inside - I've been once years ago in their beach area for a crab work event during daytime, but obviously a very different scene. There is a $10 cover charge at the door which is cash only, and they do have a lot of bag restrictions, and other rules posted at the front door. There is a large parking lot, but it fills up quickly, so be prepared to scour around for parking or to park down the street. I'm planning on coming back for their dance lessons! Bartenders were nice and made yummy drinks! Fruity and sweet, strong, but doesn't taste strong - just how I like it! They do have food to order, but I didn't get any so I can't attest to that. read more

Friends wanted to celebrate my birthday late and they've been telling me about this place for years. It's in Hanover, but the vibe of the place feels like somewhere you'd find in Ocean City or something. The spacious parking lot was completely full and you could hear the party from the edge of the lot. Yes it was a Saturday night, but my gosh. We went inside, and there was a cover!! $10 like you're in a DC club, haha. I don't really do covers and such nowadays, but there was a pretty awesome live cover band, so I get it. The venue was divided into four areas: 1) The main bar area and dance floor where all the line dancing happens. I learned SO much here! I had no idea there were so many different line dances out there, and everyone knew everything. I was able to pick up a lot of them from the side, but some were quite technical, haha. I was shy to step on to the floor and try to join them. I did feel bad not being able to dance otherwise -- seemed like you had to know the line dances to really participate. 2) Another bar with a stage -- massive area, and the live cover band was really cool! When they were done, there was a pretty eclectic DJ mix. 3) It wasn't open, but there's a sandy outdoor area -- REALLY feels like OC there haha. Sounds like a great stop in the summer. 4) The mechanical bull room. I didn't get on but it would've been fun, as it always is! Everyone in there was so hype, haha. All in all, I enjoyed my time here, but whew it is an introvert's nightmare LOL. They have different nights for dance... I'd love to check out salsa and bachata some time. WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT. Around 20 seconds after that, a cool & fit man walks up to my boyfriend and says "you guys are fine. she always does that. please keep dancing". ANYWAYS. what you should know is that this place is HIGHLY exclusive. Was denied entry at this establishment because of my hair. I'm a black man with cornrows and have had a few surgeries, having to regrow my hair over the scars. I wear my hair net, which is sheer, to protect the hair and the scars while out and about. What's crazy is that you can wear a rimmed hat but you can't wear a sheer beanie? What is that about, I don't know if this establishment understands that this can be construed as targeting black people or religious persons. My self and a group of friends spent $60 just to go in and wasn't even in the place for more than 20 mins before getting kicked out. The younger white skinny bartender with black hair that works in the back bar was rude! Our friend ordered drinks and they were watered down, mind you only reason she even helped him was because the manager told her we were there. Second time we kept asking for some service politely( we didn't know she was rude the first round). We decided to order some shots since we were already in the bar area, my wife asked 3 times and She kept ignoring us, I finally asked again (We asked for some service like 4 times) making sure she hear us since she never acknowledge us ... when I said something she turned and said " I'm busy and I heard yall, yall can go to another fucking bar to get drinks" with a nasty attitude. You can tell she didn't want to serve us from that moment. My wife went to the middle bar ( lady was super nice and attended her quickly, while she was at the other bar she she told the security said we threw a drink at her and they kicked us out. Basically she didn't want to service us and said we threw a drink at her because I'm African American and everyone else was Hispanic. This place may be large and the parking lot may look big, but wow does this place get PACKED on the weekends and at special holiday events. Parking will spill over onto the street and the line to get in will go all the way around the building. Plenty of bars inside though! NYE was insane here! We played billiards. Watched the line-dancers, and had many delicious drinks. Its a great place to hang out with friends! Bring them all! An outdoor beach bar, an indoor tented 90's area, and a line-dancing stage/area too. Bars are everywhere. They need more restrooms for woman though! read more

Bouncers super hostile. Went with my girls this past weekend for a night out and was met with a super aggressive bouncer who wouldn't let us in for no apparent reason, other than appearing "too drunk" according to his standards even though he was still allowing in multiple groups of girls who appeared to be far more drunker than my group. I don't want to assume racism, but all of the girls in my group were visibly ethnic and the other group of girls he let in were all white, appealing to the Cancun cantina agenda ‍( bouncer was a shorter male with ginger hair) Now I'm never the one to assume racism but based on other reviews the bouncers are super hostile for no reason and for that reason we are never coming back and and advising any girls looking for a fun night out to not go here, choose a better location for sure!! read more

Such a fun, interesting place! They have theme nights so coming on one of those nights offers a fun advantage. The parking lot can be challenging to navigate as it can be hard to find parking on a theme night. There is a cover to get in on theme nights so beware of that. read more

Bouncers are making this place unvisitable! If you're not white, It just makes things 100x worse. Went in there this past Saturday was unreasonably kicked out by bouncer (short ginger dude) who was definetly on steroids and on a power trip looking for any excuse to start a fight. Went in there completely sober with my girlfriend who was just a bit tipsy. We were greeted by the bouncer who already had a super bad attitude even yelling at the guests that had gone in before us for not appealing to dress code apparently. He then told us that we were too drunk to enter when we were already allowed access prior by another staff member (not the bouncer). I asked him to simple explain why my girlfriend who couldn't enter even when girls inside the bar were visibly more drunk. He then preceded to yell at me saying "get the fuck out you're really starting to piss me off" I couldn't have been more polite when asking him the question. Apparently he went on an extreme power trip where he put his hands on me and shove me out the door. I know I'm not tripping because the lady at the desk came out and apologized to us. We are college students who just wanted a drink (all 21 just to put that out there). It's just unfortunate cause the vibe seemed decent in there. However the bouncers are just unbearable. I pray someone from management sees this and can have a chat with that's bouncers cause it's not just us they are screwing over and power tripping on. I had a Birthday party here at Cancun Cantina about 8 years ago and hadn't been since. I don't know why since I live 5 minutes away. I just never think about it as a place to go on a night out. My friends are always posting what fun they have on Ladies Night, Wednesday nights. I came on a Saturday night with a gf for a girl's night out. I called ahead to see what the cover charge was, ladies free before 10pm & $10 after. Men are $10. We made it in the door 3 minutes before 10! Win! The security guard/bouncer was very friendly, great sense of humor. He used the wand on both of us. Said they had an "incident" a couple weeks ago with a female patron. Um incident. He assured us, we were safe. Security was very well presented. There are 2 sides to Cancun, Country and an R&B/Pop side. We headed straight to the R&B side. DJ was great. Played a mixture of new & popular music. Bar drinks are decent prices, $8 for shots of Ciroc, they have all flavors. $7 for Titos and pineapple. The bartender at the middle bar, there are 2, was very nice and personable. The later the night got, more crowded the dance floor became. Great night out. I'll have to come check them out on a Wednesday for ladies night. read more

A friend has been coming here a few times a week for a while and I finally came along. Arrived around 9:30 PM on a Sunday: good crowd, arrived right when the bachata class was over. $10 per person cover includes buffet with American staples such as ground beef, hot dogs, and ribs. Don't expect steakhouse quality at all - but it's a nice touch that bites to eat are included in the cover price. You'll have to buy the water or any other drinks though. Music was pretty consistent between bachata as salsa, with the odd merengue in-between. Great space for dancing - large wood floors, good layout with dedicated places to eat, big main rectangle bar which you can approach from all directions. Sports playing from several TVs in case you're not much of a dancer but like to watch/listen. Overall good experience! Some good dancers to have fun with too. It is frustrating when I pay 40 for the cover my my girlfriend and I and nothing but hip hop is played at a country bar and we cannot dance at all. Friday nights are usually very decent, and you can dance swing or line too, but Saturdays are only for dancing line to hip-hop songs and it is truly not a country bar. The Cantina has created it's own culture. It's hard to find a place where you can openly wear a flannel, cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat in the metropolitan district. (Trust me, I've lived here all my life and people even look at you weird when you wear a cowboy hat for Wacky Wednesday during spirit week in high school!). So the Cantina is the best place for you to let your inner cowboy/cowgirl out! It's so fun to come here and get dressed up and do a little line dance. Everyone that comes here is so friendly. The regulars love teaching the newbies the steps, and the newbies love to learn the latest two step, well duh why else would they come here! If you're a woman the best day to come here is on a Wednesday! The cover charge is just $7 and they'll give you a blue Solo cup for free rail drinks all night! The free line dance lesson is from 7:30-9PM and will prepare you for the rest of the night! The line dances start off easy and work there way up as the night progresses! Which is great because if you're new to the line dance scene and are a woman, you'll be a couple drinks in by the time the harder songs come on and the liquid courage will keep you going on the dance floor. A lot of people celebrate their birthday and bachelorette parties here! It's always a fun atmosphere without the rowdiness of a Las Vegas nightclub. Cancun Cantina is a good place to go any night of the week when you are looking for a fun night without getting too crazy. My friend and I always look forward coming to the Cantina whenever we're home! Really great service, very chill and welcoming atmosphere, fun and easy going crowd, very accommodating and hands on owners. Love what the new owners have done to make the Cantina great! Have been there the past couple of Friday's with friends to listen to the country band playing, but had my daughter's 7th Birthday party there yesterday for their second Family Sunday Funday. We had 20 kids in attendance, including my 2 year old son and my 3 year nephew, along with their parents/grandparents. Everyone in attendance had a ball and raved about what a great experience it was for the kids. My daughter danced on stage for five solid hours and it was the best day of her life.
