He explains things clearly and simply, but can go deeper if you'd like. We've had some relatively lengthy discussions of, say, how our current world does not map well to our evolutionary past and how that mismatch affects our teeth. Dr. Ty and his staff likely added years to my life. I was in denial of seeing a doctor for an annual physical check-up for years, actually over a decade. I did see Dr Ty for dental health and their check on my blood pressure before every cleaning became a persistent message that I really couldn't ignore. While I first found the lectures to see a doctor annoying, the final decision point came when Etheridge Dentistry would not proceed with an implant procedure until I had my blood pressure reduced. A year later, I've seen a doctor, I am now taking medicine to reduce my hereditary high blood pressure and making efforts to lower my salt intake. Dr Ty Etheridge was referred to me by one of the top orthodontics practices on the west coast for a composite build-out for my front two incisor teeth and I couldn't be happier with the results and my experience from start to finish. Two things stand out about Dr Ty.... 1.) He is truly a master of his craft--my new incisor teeth look and feel completely natural. He spent hours creating/blending the color of them so that they integrate seamlessly with the rest of my front teeth. If I had a penny for every compliment on my teeth/ smile I've received in the last two weeks from random people I interact with, I'd have easily enough $ to buy my next Bumble date the item of her choosing from McDonald's 99 Cent Menu. 2. He really cares about his patients and it shines through before and after your visit. Unfortunately it's time to write this review. I was a patient here for many years. While at first I was happy with services, as soon as I started to need larger procedures, things were not great. I suffered many issues over the years including having my entire left side (eye included) of my face numb during a procedure when it was supposed to be localized in my gums, leaving me seeing double and confused and dazed. I had a crown in too tight and had to revisit to have it filed down. Even still, I was stupid enough to be willing to go back. COVID hit and my appointment was cancelled, I assumed it would be but I Received no communication, their website wasn't updated, nothing. They rescheduled without checking with me and when I cancelled they proceeded to CHARGE me $75. During a pandemic. For an apt that they booked for me. This is both cheap and dangerous! I will not have my health be associated with an office that can't spare one apt during a pandemic. Are they also charging people who cancel because they have COVID? Seems like a good way to encourage people to come to their appointment sick! Seek care elsewhere. read more

I've always had a slight and impractical fear of the dentist; I realized that this was mostly due to the way I was treated as a person. I don't have a very good dental record and have needed several fillings and I always felt like I was being rushed through a cold, heartless system. Thankfully, Etheridge Family Dentistry is nothing like that! I popped in here having no idea of what it would be like. I came out shocked at how well the staff treated me. Everyone I interacted with was helpful, warm and friendly. The nurse and Dr. Ty made me feel more comfortable than I've ever felt at the dentist office. Dr. Ty was very thorough and honest about my dental situation and made sure to go through all the images and scans of my mouth in order to help me understand exactly what is going on. Part of what makes this a great place is the atmosphere; it's kind of zen-like. Soft lighting and a comfy dental chair make the experience easier. They even offer a great movie selection for you when having a longer cleaning or other work done. (Die Hard got me through my first cleaning). I've been here for several follow ups and have received the same great treatment each time. I highly recommend this place. I came into Dr. Ty's office right after it opened (almost 4 years ago!?). I actually went there only because I really needed a dentist and I got a flier from them in the mail. I think that I will never get so lucky responding to direct mail again. Dr. Ty is an amazing dentist. He's careful, honest, direct, and incredibly skillful. The hygienists are great as well. The office itself isn't sterile or dull. It's well decorated, not painted white, and huge beautiful photos fill the walls. Dr. Ty is into dental technology and his office has the latest and greatest stuff. I appreciate it solely for the geek factor, but it really does allow them to give you better care. Digital x-rays that you can look it right after they take them, CNC-milled-while-you-wait 3/4 crowns, etc. Amazing stuff. Also, they are open late some nights. Update: At some point Dr. Ty's office started calling me to remind me of my appointments multiple times, even though I'd never missed a single one or even been more than 10 minutes late. Also, they were rather aggressive about trying to schedule extra cleanings, and were fairly rude when I tried to cancel one. Lastly, they aren't on my new insurance's preferred provider list, so I no longer go there. Overall I still think Dr. Ty is a really great dentist, and I was fairly confused when his office started behaving the way they did. I bet you'd be happy if you go there. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Ty for a couple of years now. He is by far the best dentist I have ever been to. Walking into his office, you are greeted warmly by his staff. The office is beautiful and welcoming and Dr. Ty is simply awesome. I was not a fan of the dentist and had not been to a dentist in several years before coming into see Dr. Ty. He makes me feel very relaxed and comfortable, does a great job of communicating what needs to be done and the "why" behind it. I have had several old fillings replaced and just completed my invisalign treatment with veeners and my teeth look AMAZING! I am so happy with the smile he has given me. Dr. Ty and his staff are quite wonderful with their patients. We took my 7 year-old for his first exam since we've returned to Madison Park (having lived in Ja Jolla for 4 years). He remembered our son from his visit when he was just about to turn 3. He was great interacting with our little guy and our entire family has switched to using Dr. Ty. Originally, I was going to pick another dentist in Madison Park, but after this visit, I'm convinced Dr. Ty's office will be the best choice. The practice is state of the art and his staff invests a lot of energy into knowing all of the information about their patients, dental trends and developing relationships with the community. I've experienced dental practices elsewhere. I first was seen by Dr Etheridge when he was in practice with another dentist in Woodinville, almost 20 years ago. I found him when I returned after 6 years on the east coast. I'm glad I did. He has managed to assemble an amazing staff, the from receptionists at front desk to the several hygienists (I have been seen by 3 of them). I have been wonderfully taken care of by all. The feel like my team rather than a practice. Even walking into the office has a different easy feel to it. I've had a few cavities, a few teeth needing root canals. Nobody likes to experience these, I'm sure. But, "Dr. Ty" and his team are personable, capable, efficient, caring and empathetic. They let me know what was going on and what was to be expected next. My oral health is significantly improved. In one very unusual situation, across 6 years, Dr. Ty was actually monitoring (with specific X-rays and inspection at every visit), a tooth that had been damaged by another dentist some time ago. But rather than being hasty to take action, while none was needed, none was done. As this tooth was otherwise ok, lacked any pain or other indications, and seemed to be stable, no. hasty action was taken. But, when things suddenly and surprisingly took a turn for the worse between checkups, a plan of specific action was quickly established and executed. This was done in concert with his colleague, Dr. On, the periodontist. ALL was resolved over several well choreographed visits, in house, and beautifully so. We've been seeing Dr Ty for nearly 2 decades and can't recommend him enough. If you or your child has sensory issues, this is the office for you! The environment is very soothing and the low lights, video, audio, and sedation dentistry option is the best. Truly. I told him today he's ruined me for every other provider because everything about their practice is patient centered--from lip balm to blankets to constant checking to see if the patient is doing okay. I had an accident on a Sunday where my front tooth got knocked out. A friend of mine recommended him and called on my behalf to get an appointment, and he squeezed me in the next day! Not to mention, he returned her call from his personal phone, at the airport, on his way home from a trip. Ty is very skilled and thorough, taking care to explain the procedure and the reasoning behind his recommendations. I can tell that he's honest, making my well being the priority. During my first visit he matched the color and size of my tooth to create a temporary cap so I could leave the office that day with a tooth. He did such a good job, none of my friends can tell I have a fake tooth, and neither can I. Ty and his staff are down to earth and personable. They make the extra effort to create an enjoyable, calm atmosphere. I was pretty nervous about the whole situation because I didn't have health insurance at the time. Fortunately his office takes Care Credit which was a big help to me. I've had great dentists but Ty goes above and beyond. Dr. Ty has been our family dentist for a couple of years now and he is great!! His team is very warm and professional. The front office staff are very welcoming, lovely people. This past weekend, a 10 year old filling fell out of my mouth when flossing. I reached out to Dr. Ty and he got back to me on a Sunday and opened the office just to fill my tooth! Dr Etheridge's office was recommended to me by two separate friends. I didn't call him until the Friday of Christmas weekend, when I suddenly found myself with a broken molar and my insurance running out in 8 days. Dr. Etheridge answered my call while on a ski vacation and arranged for his assistant to see me right away to take care of me until he could. Dr. Spencer was friendly, efficient and good at explaining things. I was preliminarily patched up and heading home in under 2 hours of calling them. Then Dr. Etheridge managed to make time for me the next day, Saturday, 12/23 (even though he was supposed to be on vacation for the next week) and gave me a temporary crown and made an impression for a permanent crown to put in later. He not only was a great explainer and listener, he made sure I had a comfortable blanket to keep warm while I watched Netflix while he worked. Afterward, he pointed out points of concern with my teeth that he would recommend we take preemptive measures on. I would have become an enthusiastic patient of this office based on my in-office experience alone. How Dr Etheridge bent over backward to work with my situation and take care of me over the holidays despite his vacation has earned my eternal loyalty. read more

Well I was referred there by my boyfriend who swears by them...I went because I was having sensitivity in a tooth on the right upper side that I knew had a filled crack in it and to establish care since (admittedly I haven't been to a dentist in like a few years.) The cracked tooth had been filled before and I was warned that due to my grinding at night, the crack would just keep getting bigger.. So the day of the appointment: I got there on time, everyone was over the top friendly. I knew going in that the appointment required 2 hours, but things kept coming up that day and even though I had allotted 2 hours originally, I really only had 1 hour available. So no big deal, I would just come back for a second visit. i had made an appointment but didn't know which doctor I was going to see. Turns out it was the younger doctor (don't know his name), he seemed nice and fine...We did a general exam, did some unnecessary TMJ exam, took a bunch of X-rays and then went over some findings- they found that an old crown was probably leaking and had created infection at the root and that I need to have the root canal fixed and that they had an endodontist that is amazing. They also kept saying that for not having seen a dentist in years, that I was doing a good job and that things looked really really good, some tartar of course but nothing cleaning couldn't help... I was pleasantly surprised that everything was pretty good. I probably saw three people (the young dentist, Dr. Ty and his Dental hygeinist) and all said things looked good and the crown was something I needed to get checked out along with a cleaning. They never really addressed my concern of sensitivity on the right side of my mouth and I assumed since they kept saying everything looked great that it was ok. Ok great.. So upon leaving I made a follow up appointment for the 2 hour cleaning they said I needed and didn't have time for that day..I paid what she asked and then I questioned the amount since I have Delta Dental insurance.. She realized her mistake and said she could refund me or just credit my account for the next visit...I elected for the credit.. no big deal. I made an appointment at the endodonist, had to wait a month since it cost in combination with my insurance about 850$ total. So got the crown fixed.. I had a follow up appointment at Etheridge which I had to cancel due to the cost of the root canal fix - I called and left a message two week before and one day before to let them know since I was still getting the appointment reminders. Someone called me the day of to tell me I missed the appointment and I told her I had called and left two messages. She had no idea. She asked if I wanted to reschedule and I said I'd call her back. Each time I tried to call back they kept saying they were a month out, which is typical and not an issue but then I would have to not schedule so I could check my schedule again... a few months roll by and the sensitivity on the right is a little worse and more consistent.. granted the crack in the filled tooth could have gotten worse.. ok, deal with it right? but now I was having sensitivity in multiple areas of my mouth. So, curious, I called the office and asked if I she could look and see if I had any cavities on my first visit... She tells me I had 5-6 cavities! No one had even mentioned it to me! I'm walking around for months with these cavities and at the appointment they were just pushing for this 2 hour cleaning that in my opinion is not as important as getting the cavities taken care of.. She realizes how upset I am and has the young doctor call me.. He calls to apologize and explains that I had 3-4 cavities that are already cavities that were small and haven't gotten any bigger and that the other ones weren't full cavities yet and it was important to stop those from becoming cavities.... First of all -HOW DOES HE KNOW THEY AREN"T BIGGER NOW? AND don't you think mentioning that I had cavities would make me follow up in a more timely fashion? I'm walking around thinking things are fine and that a cleaning can be done in a couple of months.... completely poor communication... It is fine and well when all the office is nice, but I would trade niceties for clear and proper communication any day..... read more

I first came to see Dr. Ty because he was recommended by Monica at Leone and Vaughn Orthodontics. I needed a night guard that could also be a retainer. They took my impressions and he noticed that I was wincing pretty badly. I had a really sensitive tooth and he asked if I wouldn't mind having an x-ray done. Sure, why not. Seems that my dentist at the time didn't do some of my fillings correctly (6 months prior) and I had developed new cavities under the new fillings. Dr. Ty was very professional and did not bad mouth my current dentist, but I was able to come to my own conclusions. Since then I have been going to Etheridge Family Dentistry and I no longer have any tooth pain. Turns out that I also needed a root canal, which was not previously told to me by the other dentist. Little did I know how lucky I got! Dr. Ty is hands down the best dentist I have ever been to. Dr. Ty and his staff are wonderful. I started coming here several years ago after I discovered that all of my coworkers were going to him for dental work. I've always dreaded going to the dentist, but that is no longer the case. Everyone who works at the office is so nice. I avoided getting braces when I was little and thought that I couldn't get Invisalign because my teeth were really out of sync, but Dr. Ty is very experienced with Invisalign and helped fix my teeth. Dr. Ty may be one of the most fabulous dentists on this planet. My husband and I have been seeing him since we moved to Seattle and have always thought his office was great-very knowledgable staff, friendly, dedicated Dr., cutting edge technology/tools etc. Recently though, Dr. Ty demonstrated a kind of concern and dedication you just don't see in the medical profession anymore. My son (9 yrs) flipped off his bike and broke off his two front teeth in the evening (after office hours). Despite the fact that my son saw a different, kid's dentist, we knew immediately who to call! Dr. Ty called me right back, interrupted an evening run, opened up his office, and found an assistant in time for me to meet him over there with my terrified kid. He literally stood there, and rebuilt my son's teeth so perfectly that people cannot tell that he broke them! Needless to say, we were filled with gratitude and my son's parting words after we left his office were, "Mom, I want Dr. Ty to be my dentist too-forever". So, the very next day we transferred both kids' records over! He also quickly followed up with our orthodontist and lined up an appt with an endodontist for us.
