Toss a coin. It's either a fabulous experience with the style, service, and craftsmanship you would expect, or a total disaster. The design and purchasing experience is fine- it's what happens when there is an issue. BUYER BEWARE: even with extended warranty purchase, the company contracted to perform repairs and service is ONLY in the state of Vermont once a month. They are not good at managing their appointments, and have been so far behind that we have found ourselves in the position of missing an appointment and waiting ANOTHER month. We are left with a less than two-year-old dresser (style now retired, to boot) with a main drawer that never worked, and has been repaired and scheduled for subsequent repair three times. I purchased an entire living room from Ethan Allen earlier this year and I have to say I am beyond satisfied! After a month of shopping around it was clear that this was the best quality furniture in Vermont for the price and I was honestly tired of replacing my couches after only a few years of use. I have a weird space and I highly recommend taking advantage of the free deign services, the amount of options they have can be intimidating for the average person (and i am no expert!) but the designer really listened to what i wanted instead of trying to just make a quick sale. They came to my house (even though I live nearly 2 hours away!) brought big fabric, wood and carpet samples, measured my living room and even made a crazy realistic 3D layout for me. I really didn't expect this level of attention to detail from such a small operation, its big city professionalism with a mom and pop vibe. There was noting left to guess about, I could see everything in place well before jumping into the deep end. Long story short, Ethan Allen promised me something that they couldn't deliver. Had they done research prior to taking my money, this would have been discovered much sooner. The problem was not discovered until 2 months after having ordered the piece. The store owner promised to pick up the piece and give me a complete refund, but has not called me to make arrangements. Today I received a letter from his attorney stating that he would take "no further action" with regards to my complaint. I am very disappointed that this could not be resolved amicably and that the store owner has decided to go back on his promise of a refund. To date, I have made 4 phone calls to the Ethan Allen corporate office in an attempt to resolve this. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Vermont Attorney General's office. I have also disputed the charge with my credit card company. What upsets me most of all is that I felt good shopping at Ethan Allen as it is a Vermont company and I wanted to shop local. Be aware that if you shop at this Ethan Allen location, you are taking a big risk. If everything runs smoothly, then you'll most likely be happy. This is a furniture store not a design center. It has had a few decorative modifications in recent years. The customer service is poor.

The only reason I am offering 2 stars is for the quality of the product and the initial professionalism of our sales agent. Other than that, I am thoroughly disappointed. I ordered two rooms of furniture and spent a significant amount of money three months ago. To date, I only have one room of furniture, which was delivered after 2 months and is not my main focus room. I am due to receive my second delivery, which is still not my completed order and they do not have any projection as to when I should expect the remaining pieces. I have already provided a significant down payment and when they call me for a delivery date, they will not confirm the delivery without immediate credit card information or the guarantee of a certified bank check. This has been a frustrating process. I continue to receive solicitation for more purchases, but am reluctant to continue my relationship with Ethan Allen as much as I truly love the Quality and Vermont brand. read more

A sales clerk here greeted us immediately with rude and dismissive service, rather than spending even a few minutes trying to be helpful. We like Ethan Allen furniture quite a bit, actually, but we purchased our couch elsewhere because of the poor service. read more

I disagree with below comments. I recently purchased a sofa and found the customer service to be exceptional. This was a huge decision for me and I felt like I was treated very respectfully and kindly. No pushy salespeople wanting to make a sale. I would definitely recommend going to this store. They were so helpful in helping me choose fabrics and helping me keep within my budget. I can't really say enough kind things. read more
