I believe the ferns I purchased there in May were infested with a frond eating caterpillar. After speaking with helpful staff, I learned they had an effective spray. I drove from Burlington, purchased the spray for $21.99 and a small spray bottle. I later learned the same spray, 32 ounces, was available at ACE hardware for $14.99. And the small spray bottle doesn't spray. An unfortunate experience at a business I've frequented for years. I will explore options closer to home.

Their catalog is extensive and laid out in a way that was really user friendly. They also have a stand at the Burlington Farmer's Market - so you can find them there if you don't feel like traveling out to Jericho (though I suggest you do). We've never had a complaint before, but, this year we, unfortunately, got charged for an 8 foot tree when ours turned out to be barely over 7 feet. I wasn't thinking about it when I paid for it until on the way home my husband was upset that I paid more and said there was no way that tree was 8 feet. When we set it up at home it's at least 4" from our less than 8 ft ceilings and that's in the tree stand that raises it a couple inches. So we paid $10 more for our tree. I don't know if that is a complaint about service since they hand you a little plastic slip that shows what to pay and I didn't see a color coded price sheet, and, it was partly my fault for having a conversation with the clerk while paying and not realizing the price was over what it should have been. They do a nice job of shaking trees, wrapping trees, helping put them in the car and have a nice "assembly line" for doing so. If White's are reading this, I would love it if you would put that extra $10 in the Camp TaKumTa jar. I have often supported that camp in memory of my little sister who died from leukemia. Thanks!

The 5 stars assumes you want to cut your own tree - if not, you may get a surprise when you find that there are not any precut trees. Bob and Joan White own the farm. When you arrive, they will ask you if you have a saw - you're greeted when you drive in. We didn't and they gave us a nice, sharp, easy to use saw. The trees are organized by type on the farm. If you don't know what type of tree you want, you can drive around or you can ask for suggestions. The pathways to drive through are farm ground, but well maintained, so there is no worries about getting stuck. I wanted a Frazier Fur tree (the best tree for looks and holding it's needles in my opinion. The best tree all around.) I asked for the Fraziers and was pointed to the left. We drove around looking. We found a good patch of trees and got out to walk. My wife spotted our tree. It was perfect. I cut 'er down. I could have put it on our vehicle, but I thought it best to take my prize and carry it back to the barn. At the barn, they shake the tree, wrap it and help put it on your car (we have an SUV) and tie it down. Inside you get free hot chocolate. We bought our 2010 ornament - hand made in Vermont - and some maple candies to share with out of state family. The people are nice and very helpful. This was a picturesque family day driving to the country to get our family Christmas tree.

I ordered two RED Clements plants. I have several -not purchased from them --growing in my yard…read moreand wanted RED to CONTRAST the purple ones I already have. They came in a timely manner, although they were very small... I planted them and they started to grow then eventually first one bloomed and was purple NOT RED two weeks later the second one bloomed and was purple ALSO not red so this is a whole different plant than what I ordered they were 50 bucks$$ I could've bought the purple ones right at my local garden center for eight dollars apiece at the size they sent. I contacted them and asked for a refund. They refunded the price of the plants but insisted that I pay the shipping cost because they don't include them in the refund. WHAT????? I totally understand if it was something that I did, returning or something, but they essentially sent me the wrong order and will not give me a full refund. I'm not at all happy. After six emails and them explaining the minitua of their return policy they STILL fail to admit their screwup and it still cost me money. SO IF you order red roses and they send yellow? No big deal you get whatever they feel like schlepping you, and be happy about it. I would not recommend them at all - - plus all the emails sounded like they were AI, NOT real person they never actually looked at my E-mails or addressed my concerns. ..They sent wrong plants, made me pay shipping on their screw up.. not happy Do Not recommend.

My second order had plants in better shape, but there were still dead and missing ones. That said, they're serious about their guarantee. In both cases, replacements were sent immediately when I told them of the issues, and because they sent three-packs to replace the missing rhizomes, I ended up with more plants than I ordered. Overall an okay experience. They're cheaper than some more reliable mail order places and they're a little less of a roll of the dice than Etsy. They have some things I couldn't find elsewhere too.
