I ordered two RED Clements plants. I have several -not purchased from them --growing in my yard and wanted RED to CONTRAST the purple ones I already have. They came in a timely manner, although they were very small... I planted them and they started to grow then eventually first one bloomed and was purple NOT RED two weeks later the second one bloomed and was purple ALSO not red so this is a whole different plant than what I ordered they were 50 bucks$$ I could've bought the purple ones right at my local garden center for eight dollars apiece at the size they sent. I contacted them and asked for a refund. They refunded the price of the plants but insisted that I pay the shipping cost because they don't include them in the refund. WHAT????? I totally understand if it was something that I did, returning or something, but they essentially sent me the wrong order and will not give me a full refund. I'm not at all happy. After six emails and them explaining the minitua of their return policy they STILL fail to admit their screwup and it still cost me money. SO IF you order red roses and they send yellow? No big deal you get whatever they feel like schlepping you, and be happy about it. I would not recommend them at all - - plus all the emails sounded like they were AI, NOT real person they never actually looked at my E-mails or addressed my concerns. ..They sent wrong plants, made me pay shipping on their screw up.. not happy Do Not recommend. read more

Not the best quality plants--in my first order, several arrived withered and dead, and one of the three-packs only had two. My second order had plants in better shape, but there were still dead and missing ones. That said, they're serious about their guarantee. In both cases, replacements were sent immediately when I told them of the issues, and because they sent three-packs to replace the missing rhizomes, I ended up with more plants than I ordered. Overall an okay experience. They're cheaper than some more reliable mail order places and they're a little less of a roll of the dice than Etsy. They have some things I couldn't find elsewhere too. read more

6/6/2023: I purchased wildflower seeds for my property; I needed attracting bees pollinating all organic fruit trees and vegetables! Therefore, I purchased the wildflower seeds via American Meadows' online ordering because the Big Box Stores do not carry such inventory; however and since, I never dealt business with American Meadows, aka, High Country Gardens, I always perform my due diligence when purchasing from an unfamiliar Corporation. The reason for rendering three-stars review is upon receiving both wildflower seeds, the bags felt like they were hot: Now, I wondering if, the heat during shipping cooked the seeds and perhaps, may not sprout due to heat exposure! Welp~I'll discover whether the wildflower seeds will sprout in a month . . . American Meadows - 6/6/2023: I purchased wildflower seeds for my property; I need attracting bees pollinating all fruit trees/vegetables! - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Shelburne, Vermont

American Meadows is a plant business that was founded in the 1980s. It sells flower seeds, grass seeds, bulbs, potted plants, etcetera. The business buys the seeds and plants from growers around the world, and they test the seeds to ensure high germination rates. Recently, I was searching online for low-cost and low-maintenance plants that I could put in the soil behind my large retaining wall. On American Meadows's website, I read about their suggested plants based on my hardiness zone, the amount of sun and shade in my yard, plants that are good for bees and butterflies, plants that grow to a desired height, plants that grow back each year, etcetera. I decided to purchase a 5-pound bag of no-mow flowering lawn seed mix for a total of $136, which includes shipping, handling, and tax. The next day, the business shipped my package. A few days later, the post office delivered the package to my house. In the coming weeks and months, I will observe how the seeds germinate in my yard. read more

American Meadows has an excellent selection and always has excellent customer service. Every bulb, rhizome, and seed I've gotten here has been a better quality and price than the competition! read more

Prompt response to concerns, fast easy satisfying response. Very impressed. Excited to see plants grow read more

Everyone should buy their seeds from here. Completely Neonectinoid free which is a necessity for keeping our bees and pollinators alive. Most other places sell seeds with neonics which is killing all our pollinators and poisoning our eco systems read more

Regarding Order Number: 2927151 This order was received 3/23, and I planted indoors on 3/24. Today (4/2), I removed one tuber from my starter tray to see if there is any indication of life. And I saw a tiny white dot on the top of the tuber indicating that it is probably alive. But it will probably be another week or two before the shoot reached up one inch to the surface of the soil. So the tubers probably won't be planted outside until some time in May. The other begonia tubers I have from previous years are up about one foot and already beginning to bloom. I will move them outside later this week and plant them in large pots on our shaded deck. Late May is not what I expected from your tubers. So I will not be ordering from American Meadows again. Too bad; I was expecting better. Louis Richard, 688 Tiffany Meadows NE, Bainbridge Island. WA 98110. read more

We ordered Japanese Painted Ferns from American Meadows and were very pleased with both the quality of the plants and the outstanding customer service. Two of the ferns are thriving beautifully in our garden, and when one didn't survive the winter, we submitted a guarantee claim. The process was simple and the company honored their guarantee exactly as promised--no hassle at all. It's rare to find a company that stands so strongly behind their products. Based on the health of the plants and their excellent customer service, we highly recommend American Meadows and will definitely order from them again. read more

I ordered seeds from them, but they chose the cheapest shipping option possible, so my seeds went from VT to MA to CA to NJ to MA over two weeks before finally reaching my home. The sad thing is this is the second time I experienced poor shipping. The first time, the shipment contained plants and bulbs that were moldy on receipt. When I asked to return the items, they said the shipping would be at my expense. Poor customer service! But shame on me for giving them a second chance. Not again! read more

Great service and awesome options for plants! Strongly recommend them as they stand behind their products!

Best price found for creeping phlox. Anxious to receive them early next week! I will keep them on my list for future purchases. Also, I had a question regarding the shipping and when I spoke to a representative she was very efficient and helpful. read more

I love the quality of your plants and great customer service. Ordering dahlias and some other stuff for the second time, finger crossed. Haven't tried seeds though but will do in the future. read more

As expected after 9 DAYS inside a dark box my plant arrived DEAD. I ordered from several other companies on the same day. No problems with them. I wish I'd check with yelp for this company's rating. I never would have used it. I recommend no one else do so. read more

I originally ordered 1 package of 15 pip of White Lily of Valley and 1 package of 3 pips of Rosea Lilly of Valley in October 2024. In mid March 2025 I received the package which contained the supposed order. Both bags were sealed with peat moss, and both lilly packages contained only 1 small pip. I opened the bags to check inside to confirm that there was only 1 pip while lily of valley and only 1 pip of the pink lily of valley. I was shorted 14 pips white and 2 pips of the pink. I called customer service informing of the shortage, took photos and was informed that it was an error and replacedments would be sent out. I received the first replacement 3/24/25. This time I did not open the bags as I could clearly see the problem. This time the replacement for the white lily of valley only contained peat, not a single pip or plant. The bag which was supposed to contain the pink lily of the valley contained a different plant with tag, which was for Veitchi Blue, also sealed. Clearly no one is checking what is being mailed out, and no one is checking to make sure that the plants you order are contained in the bag with the correct quanity. Again I take pictures, call customer service and explain what I received. I did not open bags this time because it is so hard to believe that the same mistake would happen again, especially since I asked them to check before sending it out. So, today April 8, 2025, I am beyond frustrated!! Received a packaged with hopes of finally getting what I ordered back on October, but to find no pink lily of valley at all, and the bag with the white lily of valley, again only had 1 small pip, again sort 14 pips. I paid over $55 for these plants and American Meadows cannot ship what they sell. Such disappointment, such terrible service, no quality control. Three time is very very diappointing. In the meantime, I ordered from Dutch Farms, and they send me what I ordered and paid for the first time. If you buy from the company it sure helps to know what the bulb or plant is supposed to look like, and if you can count, that is also helpful because American Meadows cannot count past one. read more

Ordered plants in June; they messed up the order, never sent the plants, charged my credit card and refused to refund the charge. They were unable to find the charge. Had to spend hours dealing with their mess. Don't use. read more

Ordered plants. Four of them arrived dead. I wrote noting their guarantee, and then sent me two plants (not four) to replace them. One of the two replacements arrived dead. So I've learned my lesson: just go to the local garden store! read more

Last year I planted a new meadow garden, ordered seeds from American Meadows. This year I had amazing results, tons of beautiful wildflowers throughout the growing season. In the learning process, I realized that some of the flowers were too tall for my sloping garden, so for next year I'm looking to plant more wildflowers that are better suited. I've called American Meadows a number of times over the past 2 years for advice and suggestions about plantings. They are always generous with their time and knowledge, and spend as much time as needed to answer questions. read more

At first, I was disappointed when the dormant irises I received didn't come back in the Texas heat. The heat of shipping them in August and trying to grow them in 100+ degrees temperatures was too much. I realized, almost a year later, that there was a one year guarantee. They sent me new ones when I contacted them for the ones that died. I asked them to send them this month, September. So I hope they come out of dormancy just fine. read more
