I love this place! Great Mexican food, chips n salsa and margaritas! Friendly, family owned restaurant. I used to go to the old location on Hwy 76 and really enjoyed the outdoor patio with all the plants and sunshine. This place is small, so you need to leave your house about an hour before you think everyone else in Fallbrook is hungry, or you'll have to wait. Fallbrook's best kept secret, shhh! I would give it 5 stars because I really, really love it there, but there are too many customers and not enough tables to accommodate them all. I get excited when thinking about going to Estrella's for lunch or dinner. I love to get the fish tacos with chipotle sauce AMAZING! J go quite often and grab takeout too because it can be really busy and difficult to get a seat. The margaritas are great. I tried the chamoy margarita (virgin) last time. It was sweet tangy and colorful. I loved it. Would have been great with tequila but I was driving! I have tried a few other things like the rolled tacos, carne asada nachos, enchiladas, fajitas and carne asade burrito but I always go back to the fish tacos, they'e my favorite. I would recommend getting chipotle sauce on anything here, its great and has a nice kick without being too over powering. I love their flour tortilla chips and the frsh home made salsa. I use to love Estrellas. 1) I ordered a cheese quesadilla w/ chicken, got what looked like a chicken burrito WHERE'S THE CHEESE? 2) I ordered a cheese quesadilla w/chicken, got that but with peppers n onions added. 3) i took friend from out of state. The service was horrible. When did getting a water and tea refill become impossible? 4) boyfriend and i got sick off the shrimp. That's it, I'm done. I don't get it. Read all the great reviews. Still don't get it. Ordered the Camaron al mojo de ajo. I expected the larger butterflied shrimp, as is usually served with this dish, but instead, it was a 16/20 sized shrimp and only 7 of them. There was literally no garlic butter on the plate so I asked for a side of it. It was flavorful but spicy..odd. The rice and beans were ok but the homemade tortillas were excellent. My husband ordered the tamales and I tasted the one with mole. Again..spicy and not sweet. Nothing crave-worthy. There was a man at the bar that favored the word "fuck" like it was the only word he knew. Rather than getting him to pipe down, the manager or owner seemed to egg him on. Kind of embarrassed for the guy..he was so loud. However, the best thing about this place is you can practically ice skate on all the pee that is on the women's/men's joint restroom ceramic tile floor. Be careful..almost broke my neck. OMG! ESTRELLA's is the hidden gem of fallbrook. The cozy atmosphere and the friendly staff make it a great environment to chill. The flour and corn tortillas with homemade salsa and guacomole are to die for. Not to mention that everything is delicious. Tortas, ceviche, tacos, burritos. You name it, they kill it. Hands down, the best mexican kitchen in Fallbrook. Thank you Charlie, Frank and the rest of the Estrellas crew for always making it easy to decide where to dine out. The worst restaurant service/food. Omg I couldn't believe it. I wanted to walk out soo bad. Our waitress was horrible. 1st we walk thru the door to be seated and the people that work there had their back towards us for about 5 min of standing there. Or waitress who was horrible was talking to the girls about something unimportant for 5 min we stood there waiting. Ok we finally get seated.... the place is Sooo small n dirty. The waitress comes and she is just so unhappy and doesn't even smile it was really unpleasant to even order or even to ask her anything about the menu. So we finally order r drinks. the chips were disgusting.... they tasted burt 20 min goes by I'm already over eating at this place but I can't even leave now because I had already ordered a large giant margarita to enjoy with my dinner. But i wasn't enjoying 1 min of it. I had to finish it because it was $16 dollars. she comes miserable she looks ughhh just awful I order the garlic shrimp plate to share with my husband. Remind u its sooo cluttered in there if u wanted to leave it would be a hassle expecially with a baby. So we get r food nasty she brings and doesn't even ask No extra plates. No waters. Food was ridiculously greasy and the shrimps looked like they were bought from a grocery store they were so small. 6 small shrimp for $15 u can buy 20 shrimps that size for $3 at a grocery store. So I make a plate for my baby he's 2 some rice n beans. Literally there was half scoop of rice n 2 teaspoons of beans on the plate. Covered in just pure grease. R u kidding I don't know any mexican restaurant that didn't serve a good amount of rice n beans my entire life. She doesn't come at all. The plates don't even get cleared off the table theirs now Flys everywhere swarming r table because the food is just sitting there. It was a mess. We r ready to just walk out at this point. She brings r bill. I take my baby to the car n my husband is still in there waiting for her to grab his card to pay. Another waitress had to grab it cause she was no where to be forund. He eventually told one of the girls that our waitress was non exsistant and they laughed like it wasn't the first time they heard that before. Ahe seemed like a big problem in that restaurant n that's prob why there failing. remind u when we would try to ask her what we needed she would just walk away. My husband had to get up twice to get a beer and a plate. And that place is so small to get around. Waste of money. I can't believe I even had dinner there . How is that place still in buisness. Estrellas is just gross, We've tried them several times both the in town location, and their newest . The food is poorly prepared my last order was the chicken tortilla soup. Which seemed to be made with "pre-fab" chicken Really disgusting Didn't eat it. My husband ordered carne asada tacos, The meat was dry with no flavor. And they messed up my sons burrito order. Having been here twice- both after reading/hearing rave reviews from our friends and neighbors. Once at their original location and now their new location. I went there with 2 other people, we all got different dishes. All of us made the same conclusion- the best part of the meal was the handmade chips and salsa. The carne asada plate was good- not great. The enchiladas were pretty lack luster in flavor. And the other meal was ok at best. Now I remember why I didn't return after my first experience with them. I'm giving them two stars- one for the chips and salsa and another for service which was great even though it was lunch time. But as for the food there are many small taco shops, grocery store restaurants, and other restaurants that I would recommend more highly than this place. read more

Like the other posts, we liked the freshly made chips. The salsa is average, at best. The restaurant is extremely noisy and you sit on top of each other. Drinks are watered down, definetaly not worth the prices. Food is ok but nothing to write home about. The servers are friendly but you can tell they are over worked. I am astonished that this restaurant has not yet been shut down by ABC. I ordered a plate of fish tacos and received them in a timely fashion, but all of the tortillas had mold on them. I requested that they returned my plate and replaced it with another dish. The manager was rude enough to refuse giving me another plate free of charge. His excuse was that the company would throw money in the trash because it was already prepared so I must pay for both dishes. That was unacceptable for me, I would have expected that from a bad waitress, but not from the manager himself. I encourage everyone to be cautious of what they eat there. read more

This is the second time here and wanted to come back based on the first time with positive wishes to come back. We came on a Wednesday night expecting not to wait too long for a table. Upon arrival we were told there were no more tables available but there was seating at the bar. We took that. Looking around the dining area I noticed there was a table vacant (and was vacant when we entered) we asked our bartender/server if they take reservations...she said no. Twenty minutes later they seated a couple after turning down several other couples before them for a table. This is pretty authentic northern style Mexican food (especially the beans and rice). Plus it's a family owned and operated business. The place is very small and parking can suck at times, but the servers are nice genuine down-to-Earth locals. Best Hispanic food in Fallbrook. I have been to others here in town and some how I keep finding myself coming back to Estrella's. Our family ordered food to go for about 30 people, and it was awesome. We worked with Carlos who was super responsive and helpful. We ordered the cheese and chicken enchiladas (which were the most popular) and the steak fajitas, and of course Mexican rice and beans (yum!!). Food was ready on time, and Carlos included tons of pico, salsa, limes, sour cream, corn and flour tortillas, and lots of corn and flour tortilla chips. It was awesome. We will do it again.
