The food here was incredible, probably the best we had when staying in Rome. We tried several kinds of pasta, a pizza, and wine. We tried several places in the area during our stay and this was 100% the best restaurant we came across. It is so worth the extra 2 minutes of walk to get away from the places immediately along the hotel streets. The service was SLOW, like the slowest we had our entire time in Italy, which was somewhat annoying but we'd come to expect a wait by this point so as long as you're not in a hurry it'll be alright. Make sure you ask for the check or it will never come. Also you need to be a bit pushy when it comes to ordering, getting water, or even asking for a table otherwise they sort of just brush right past you. That's the Italian culture so it didn't bother us, but we saw some totally clueless tourists when eating here that waited for ages to get anything because they wouldn't ask. The food more than made up for it as it was so good. The menu comes in English and the staff can speak English so it was very easy as a tourist. I highly recommend the pizza here, it was my favorite pizza in Italy of all the places we tried. It is a traditional red sauced pizza and the crust is great, traditional Italian. The pasta spaghetti amatricana is a specialty and was very tasty, but salty. Nothing was at all spicy so don't worry about anything being too hot. read more

Total tourist trap. Many very good restaurants in area. Avoid this place. Ordered bottle of Pinot Grigio. First brought one glass. Then brought the bottle at room temperature 80 degrees. Tasted and asked to wait and place in chiller which was a bucket of water with 8 ice cubes. Asked for more ice. Brought out a small glass of ice and added to bucket three times. For 35 euros was a little pissed. When ask at end of meal how were things I complained about wine and was treated like I was trying to get discount. Secondly when bill was presented there was a 10 service fee for allowing us to sit at their table. No other restaurant in area charged us a fee. Spaghetti cacio e pepe here is one of the best dishes I've ever had in my life! Ariana was wonderful and the ambiance is intimate and fairly casual. House red was very good, I didn't care for the white. I really can't say enough about that spaghetti. I would drink that sauce, bathe in it, and wear it as cologne if I could! It was a nice night, I was traveling solo, and I wanted to sit outdoors. As I looked at the menu, like so often happens in Rome, a guy walked up to ask if I was interested in dining here. Since the prices were pretty stellar, I said yes and sat down at the two-top of my preference. I never felt like I was eating alone, because the host (David) and servers were constantly hovering around me -- chatting away. I appreciated the company, but if you're not into that vibe, you may not like this place. I ordered their house white wine and a four-cheese pizza. I ate as much as I could (it was a good pizza!), but I'm a light eater so for the second half, I mostly just snagged the cheese off of it. This amused the servers. When it came time to pay, I asked if they could break a 50 euro. ATMs love to give 50 euro bills! When the server (owner?) came back, he pretended to only give me a portion of my change to see my reaction. Ha! Don't let the outside fool you. This is a top notch hole in the wall restaurant. Food and service was excellent. This was by far the best Lasagna I've ever eaten. Since I can't travel to Italy right now, let me review this cool restaurant from my trip in November 2019. I ate here my last night in Rome and it was a great final meal in the Eternal City. The main dining floor is below street level and incredibly cozy. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The well portioned lasagna was delicious with a perfect meat, pasta and cheese ratio and a bit smoky. The tiramisu was quality chocolate and big. The post feast cappuccino was perfect too. Horrible food. Steak: Super tough. Presented on a hot plate. The potatoes were the only barely decent part of it. Jewish artichoke: Inedible. The pieces I tried were stale and rubbery Hot tea: First off I ordered cold tea which the waiter confirmed then brought out hot tea. Second I've never once in my life spat out tea prior but now this was my first. Besides using a horrible tea bag, the water just tasted bad. And it was a long wait to even get the above. This was an easy restaurant right across the street from our hotel right after getting off the plane from Paris. The place was empty as we got in right when they were opening. My husband and I were on our last leg of our honeymoon in Rome visiting from Hawaii. We shared a half bottle of the house red which was delicious. For starters we shared the Caprese and the Prosciutto with Melon, unbelievable. For main courses I had the Cacio e Pepe and my husband had a Pizza with prosciutto, egg and artichoke hearts. A-OK in my book! We ended up visiting this place twice for lunch, mainly because our hotel was across the street. Pizza here is standard for the U.S. but oddly enough better than most places we tried in town. Service was great and we took full advantage of their outdoor seating. Prices and portions are just right. Both times, we ended up doing a little day drinking with our fellow table mates, swapping travel stories and enjoying the beautiful May weather. My wife and I read the reviews and figured we would try Est Est Est, we would never go back. The service was very good but the food was awful. Had the fried shrimp and calamari, was over cooked, shrimp was rubbery and all you could taste was salt and butter, like the amount of salt you would expect on popcorn.
