I really like this place, they treat my dog so well. I have been coming here for almost two years. Laurie and staff are great people. My dog looks great and it seems as though she enjoys herself there. They are very accomodating to dogs who have sensitive skin. Tell them Sweet Pea sent you! read more

I have taken our 1 1/2 year Maltese Charlie for the past year. I have never been disappointed. We love taking Charlie ( or as they like to call him, Charles :) to Essential Grooming. He always gets a full bath, blueberry facial which is only $3, and a full groom. They are great with calling to tell us when he's ready & he always looks so handsome when we pick him up. He'll always have a cute little bandana on when we pick him up. I also don't live in Santee and make the 15 minute drive just to come here even though I have PetSmart, and so many other choices, I will only come here. Thank you Laurie & all amazing staff ! read more

My mom takes her Yorkie puppy here and has always raved about the grooms and service. I recently visited home with my border collie mix (who desperately needed a trim) and my mom insisted he take a trip to Essential Grooming. He gets nervous at places like the vet and groomers, but the entire staff made sure he felt comfortable and allowed me to walk him back when we first got there. His trim turned out great, he looks like brand new dog with a perfect summer haircut. Carrie did an excellent job and I couldn't be happier. You will not regret essential grooming! Make sure to add on the blueberry facial, my pup's face smelled amazing. I was so surprised when they rang us up, it was incredibly reasonable for the great service we received. read more

I take 3 of my dogs to Laurie at essential grooming and she is by far THE BEST in all of San Diego. My dogs are very reserved, have separation anxiety (insane barking!) and are just obnoxious messes. But Laurie and her kind staff ALWAYS takes the time to make them (and me!) feel comfortable and they always leave stress free and looking AMAZING!!! She is very reasonable priced especially for the outstanding services she provides. If you want your animals to be treated with big quality care and compassion....call them for an appointment....YOU WONT REGRET IT!! read more

I've taken my *very* longhaired dachshund here a handful of times over the past year and they are very professional and friendly every time. My dog is not a fan of strangers but they always show him so much love and kindness he can't help but "tolerate" the pampering! Only reason for 4 stars is they are usually booked a week out and the last time my dog was groomed it took about an hour longer than normal and they didn't shave him as short as they normally do so it grew back too quickly. But overall a great place! read more

Baxter loves his visits to "Auntie Laurie". The whole staff is very gentle with my little fur baby. His cuts are always expertly done and finished off with a cute, seasonal bandana. If they ever have questions they will call and confirm to make sure you get exactly what you want, and past cuts are kept on file. read more

I had been having a difficult time finding a groomer that my dog liked and that I felt comfortable leaving her with! I must say Essential Grooming never disappoints me when I come to pick her up. The staff is extremely friendly and remember you and your pet and go above and beyond to try accommodate your schedule. I highly recommend them to everyone. They do an amazing job! read more

Love taking Tyson here! The ladies are so sweet and friendly. They always remember Tyson and tell me how much they love him. He's a pickle when he gets his nails clipped and they handle him really well when clipping his nails. I'm always able to squeeze him in the day of when I call for an appointment. Best groomers in Santee! read more

Took my dog here for the first time today, and I will never take her back to Petsmart / Petco again! This place is awesome! They even managed to clip her nails - which she never lets anyone do! So worth the drive to Santee! Jessica bathed her and brushed her and she looks fabulous! :o) read more

We recently started taking our fur baby here because the place before wouldn't actually cut hair. Anyways the people here are so kind and Harley Quinn comes out looking and smelling like a new dog. We will not be taking our dog to any other places. read more

I have enjoyed bringing my dogs to Laurie for years. They do an outstanding job and are always connected to my dogs with their care and expertise. Their prices are very reasonable. You can't go wrong with Essential Groomers!! read more

JMJ We've been going to Essential Grooming since they opened several years ago. Laurie and the crew have always been warm and welcoming, treating our animals as if they were their own. One of our dogs, a white yorkie, was paralyzed after being attacked by another neighborhood dog who was unleashed and at Essentials he received gentle loving care for his grooms. Our maltipoo is never fearful upon drop-off and is always lookin' good at pick-up. Essentials is prompt and seeks to be done at the time they agree to at drop-off. The dogs are always clean and happy. Once or twice we have found nicks from where the dogs were clipped, but that happens when trimming our family's hair at home, too! A good smelling, soft and fluffy happy pup is always the end result at Essentials Grooming! They're Essential! read more

We took our Golden Retriever here to get her nails clipped and to trim some of her hair. The folks here were absolutely great. The price was very reasonable, there was no wait, and it was easy to see that they all love the animals and they were very friendly. We will definitely be going back here for all future grooming for our baby. read more

We are always so pleased with the services we receive here for both our cat and dog. They always come back from their spa day looking perfect! read more

I live in the SouthBay and took my toy yorkie Luna for the first time. I saw what they did for her sister Lily and I loved it. They were very friendly and had an immaculate clean facility! I will definitely see you in 4 weeks for a follow up! read more

Essential Grooming - My baby girl Luna, looking too cute! - Pet Groomers Near Me - Santee, California

It's a shame when you try to support a local, small business, but they push you away. I was told "we aren't even accepting new customers". Really? What company DOESN'T want new customers?!? And "we are booked until the end of August" OK, so offer me an appointment at the end of August. I even explained that I live right down the street and needed a new grooming place. I would have brought my dog in on a regular basis, even in their non-busy months, but now I will never step foot in the place again. Too off putting. read more

Great! Great! Great! Can't say enough except that the entire experience from my first phone call to bringing my dogs home, was the best ever! Laurie Jennings came highly recommended by my vet and after reading the reviews here, I gave them a call. I am absolutely elated to find such superior quality work! I will continue to have monthly appointments for my animals with this firm! Do not hesitate! Call them for your pets' needs! read more

Essential Grooming is the best! I will only take my dogs here because they are so wonderful, friendly, and efficient!

I went there a week ago and it was a great place. I took my boston and my sheltie and they took them in and were very nice. When I picked them up I noticed they didn't trim the shelties toes like they told me they would. So I left my short snout dogs with the AC at full blow while I went inside to tell them. They said they were sorry and that they would check that the other trim was done too. So I took him home assured that my pup was all set. Well, they missed to trim his bathroom hair, even though they assured me that he was done correctly. I was so disappointed that I would have to go once again to get him groomed because of this. And I just didn't want to go back again and tell them they forgot hair AGAIN. Yet I called and they fixed it with flying colors! read more

This is the only place I will take my dog! They are so awesome and they take great care of my pup while he's there. Even though we now live super far away I still drive back here when he needs to be groomed. Definitely the best place!! read more

I love this place! I bring by Maggie every once in a while and they do an amazing job every time! They always know just how to groom her and style her in a way that keeps my baby's personality! I will never stop coming her! My dog normally doesn't like other dogs, but she does so well here! read more

Brought my two Australian shepherds here a few times for grooming. At one visit, I asked for them to get a trim and good brush out. They called to inform me my dogs were SO matted (which they weren't), they couldn't be brushed out and would have to be shaved. I told them do not shave my dogs. When they were picked up, they were shaved to the skin. I had never shaved my dogs' beautiful, long coat, and a year later, I'm am still fighting the effects of it growing in wiry. I brought them back to the salon for normal grooming later, and it was done well. The dogs were clean and cute.. but, I don't like how they only have small cages (no dock on the facility), and when I picked up my dogs the last time after a few hours, they had to go pee so bad, they started going before they even made it to the dirt. I'm not sure they let the dogs out for potty breaks. For little dogs, this place seems great, because they do good grooming. But this place was not good for my dogs. read more

I took my little puppy to have a shampoo! It took 3 1/2 hours when they told me 2! First time customer! I will not be visiting them again! read more

Although they do a great job with cutting/washing my dog is afraid to go in there and the receptionist is not very capable of doing her job. Doesn't make it worth going back at all. read more

This is the best groomer I've ever been to. The staff is so friendly and great at what they do. I have a large old dog who had very long nails. They took him in and were done in no time, never once getting his vein. I highly recommend this place to anyone needing a groomer. read more

Took our bulldog here for a bath and to get her nails trimmed. Our pup was in a great mood when we arrived to pick her up! She smelled amazing and they even took the time to put an adorable bandana on her. Definitely would recommend to a friend. read more

This is the 3rd time we have been here, the price started off at $45 for a full groom for my miniature poodle, picked him up and they charged me $3 more, whatever I just won't leave a tip. So today I go to pick him up and he is nearly shaved bald and completely uneven. The hair on his butt that is supposed to be short looks terrible. His cute little beard is gone, completely with exception of the UNEVEN hair shooting out here and there. They charge more than most of the other groomers in the area and its not worth it unless you like a bald poodle. I'm not going back EVER! read more

I recently moved to Santee from Washington State and my two springer spaniels, ages 8 1/2 and 11, had only been groomed by one groomer their entire lives. Needless to say I was a little nervous about finding a new groomer that did a great job as well as I felt comfortable leaving my girls with. Essential Grooming was absolutely wonderful! Not only were they nice and professional, but also very flexible and understanding in how I wanted Ellie Mae and Lucy groomed. I highly recommend this establishment. You will be happy with the results. I know I am.. read more

This was the best experience I think I could have had. I have taken my cat to another groomer for the past few years but I recently moved. So this was our first time there. They did an amazing job. I never knew she could look this good. Her lines were great. Her hair was even everywhere. The best part though is that my cat came home calm and happy, which has never happened. They took my temperamental cat and made her a happy cat! I am in shock! The groomer also talked to me and told me how she did which was really nice. Everyone there was great. They were nice and understanding of my concerns for my cat. I will definitely be back soon! read more

They do a great job with my golden retriever. The facility is clean and the staff are very friendly. Great prices as well.

Essential grooming is a fantastic place to take your dogs! The people there are very friendly and always remember our dogs and their names. We have an older dog with hip problems so they have her take breaks throughout her hair cut so she isn't in to much pain. We love the staff and feel free comfortable leaving our dogs there! read more

This place was amazing. A spa for my dog. I don't know if she loved it, but I loved the way she looked and smelled when I picked her up. Great staff. Will definitely go back read more

Brought in my two Beagles this last week for a bath and nail trim. They did a great job. Very nice staff, and very friendly with my dogs. Will for sure be returning for future visits. read more

This is by far the best groomer! She knows her stuff. I have had the priviledge of bringing my dogs to Laurie for the past 7 years. She and her staff are always happy to talk with you and help in any way they can. They genuinely care about your pets. My dogs (two bichons & a yorkie) are always perfectly groomed. Wouldn't take them anywhere else. read more

They are the Best. I have a very "old" large dog. I also have a dog that has had hip surgery....."special needs dogs....more or less - They are gentle and caring, always trying to accommodate an appointment so the dogs don't have to be there very long - not an "all day" job, like some shops. They also have the proper equipment for a large dog (hydraulic lift table) with hip issues. So glad I was referred to them by a friend. I Stongly recommend. read more

Essential grooming is fantastic! We take our 14 year old Pomeranian Bear here who has a leg condition where he is unable to stand for very long. We used to take him to Petsmart in Santee for grooming but were told a few years ago that he was no longer welcome back due to being too much work and requiring two groomers. Essential grooming has been extremely kind and has a wonderful grooming staff! If your dog has a medical condition they are very accommodating, and I would recommend that you give them a try. read more

I met Laurie 6 or 7 years ago and was blown away by her skill and artistry! She is not only a certified Animal Hygienist but is also a certified Master Groomer. Her talents are matched by her beautiful smile and outstanding customer service! If you want your dog or cat to be groomed properly by a true professional then you must try Laurie at Essential Grooming. She is the Dog Whisperer of groomers. I've witnessed her calming a dog that just a few minutes before had been ready to bite someone's head off. Laurie is a true gem! read more

Laurie and staff work wonders with our doggie, now he loves to go the groomers!

Great place! I can drop off the dogs while I grab lunch and they're clean and happy with a lot less hair when I get back! They remember us, which is great. Price is right. They also do cats! read more
