If you're looking for a Greek restaurant with huge portions, this is the place to visit. The food tastes really good, and the service is excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite normal; it doesn't have a particularly aesthetic feel.

This restaurant is great for when you are craving Greek food. The food is 10/10!! We got the chicken souvlaki dinner and it came with rice potatoes and salad. Enough to feed two people. Prices were great too but only negative was the fact that it is cash only so had to find a bank to take out cash. I took off a star cause of that. Other than that the restaurant is big, clean, and open till late too!

Went to Esquire yesterday for lunch after some recommendations from co workers and friends. Service was friendly and the location was well kept and clean. Ordered a homeburger and onion rings. Onion rings a bit soggy, due to the take out container. Homeburger was ok, nothing too special. Not sure this restaurant would be on the top of my list of go tos, with Johnnys Hamburger and others around the neighbourhood.

Honestly Esquire's food is amazing. I got the chicken souvlaki plate, and the flavours of the chicken are spot on, however the bread was little bit hard. The restaurant itself is pretty neat overall. The only drawback is that they're cash only. Otherwise, I definitely recommend checking it out!

Long-standing Greek spot for souvlaki, steak, gyros and grilled BBQ platters. This late-night, CASH ONLY, eatery has been serving fast food counter service and takeaway orders to customers since 1981. They've raised their prices due to inflation but the food quality has remained the same. Their chargrilled Chicken Souvlaki Dinner is tender, juicy, and comes with a generous amount of tzatziki, garlic bread, salad, fries or rice with potato. Their burgers are not bad, if you're looking for an alternative to Johnny's Hamburgers in the next plaza.

Updated this for COVID-19 situation. Came here with a takeout order of gyro on pita and hamburger. Definitely stick to the Greek items not the hamburger/hotdogs. Everything was ready on time. Gyro on pita is delicious - thick multiple cuts of gyro on a pita bread with tomatoes and onions and sauce. Delicious. Come back for this every time. Hamburger was okay. Probably just a normal frozen patty on a burger bun with lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup and mustard. Decent sized burger diameter wise but the patty is decently thin. Probably wouldn't get it again. The price is hard to beat though - for both items, just came to 10$.

Esquire has been around for a long time, serving up decent Greek food until the wee hours of the morning, making it a great late night spot. It's a simple place with ordering and pickup at the counter and ample seating. Cash only. It was late and we were hungry. There were a few diners there when we arrived and a few waiting for their orders but we ordered right away and found a table. We ordered a Pork Souvlaki dinner, Gyros on a pita, and two small Greek salads. THE GOOD. The food was tasty and the portions were on the generous side. The prices are very good for what you get. THE BAD. REALLY BAD. The service here is terribly SLOW! I usually give a business the benefit of the doubt when I read reviews but I see I'm just one of many that have the same complaint. It took around 45 minutes to prepare our order! It was very obvious that we weren't the only ones waiting and getting irritated. It was also very obvious that orders weren't being prepared in the sequence they were received in. A party of four arrived after us, ate, and left before we did. Another gentleman was waiting for his takeout order before we got there and we got our order before he did. He was understandably not happy. Another fellow arrived while we were waiting and got his order fairly quickly. With an open kitchen, we observed no reason for the delay in preparing orders. The staff just had no sense of urgency and didn't seem to care that customers were complaining. CONCLUSION. Esquire represents a good value for Greek food if you don't mind crappy service. I do.

Esquire is my go-to place for a souvlaki or Greek food craving. Everything is made fresh to order, prices are super reasonable and the food always tastes great! My friend told me about this place and I've been going ever since. Just a heads up, their tzatziki sauce is pretty heavy on the garlic. Also there's a great Greek pastry place next door definitely worth it to finish a great Greek meal.

Cook does not wear mask while preparing food. In fact, he was rapping (singing) while grilling the food on the grill. Manager said nothing to this cook about not wearing a mask or SINGING while preparing the food. Will not go back until pandemic is over. Too risky.

Gyros on a pita ! Sooo good !

Best Greek food in Scarborough. I have tried the chicken souvlaki dinner, the pork souvlaki dinner, the gyros on a pita and I must say everything is always delicious and I've never been disappointed. Freshly prepared with fresh ingredients and decent portions. If your looking for good Greek food , check this place out! Make sure to call ahead to place your order as they are very busy, and they only except cash. Wish I had a better picture of this gyros ;) but it was the best!

The rice was actually a lot better than I expected. I know it's just a side, but rice at times from other Greek places isn't that great, and this was much better. My wife had the mix grill plate, and I helped. She absolutely loved the lamb. It was largely over the quality and the prep was fairly standard, but there's nothing wrong with that. The potato layer feels fluffy and sandwiches thinly sliced eggplant, so the aubergine is rather pronounced. The ground beef mixture wasn't overly spiced and even the bechamel sauce was a thin layer, so it toasts the top but doesn't saturate the slice. Ultimately, it's not heavy so you could get through a full portion. A flaming saganaki ($19.95), the pan fried kefalotiri cheese, is a staple in Canadian Greek restaurants. It seems touristy to order but there's something endearing about setting a piece of cheese on fire and yelling "opa"! For me, the dish is more for the atmosphere than taste. Pantheon pan fries the cheese well, so it develops a crust even prior to flambeeing and serves it as a thick gooey slice. If only the accompanying bread wasn't so dry and mealy, a good saganaki calls for a better complement. Almost all their mains arrive with a sizeable Greek side salad that's smartly served first containing ample amounts of crumbled feta and some tomato, cucumbers, and onion over romaine. Their dressing is different, tamer and while still acidic there's a sweetness to it. Not sure, but perhaps they use a red wine vinegar and then blend the ingredients together so it's better combined? With the fishkebob souvlaki ($36.95) I was expecting fish, but it's really a seafood kebob containing shrimp, calamari and mushroom. It's cooked well with a faint grilled aroma, very tender, and lightly salted. Sadly, my steamed vegetables were merely carrots and didn't have the delicious garlicky green beans included on my friends' plates. Luckily, there was plenty with the moussaka so I could augment mine. At least there was an ample portion of roasted lemon potatoes that were soft and fluffy with a refreshing pronounced citrus finish. Pantheon doesn't skimp on the lamb chops that arrive with the entrée. And if you can't decide on what protein you'd like, their menu also offers some as add-ons. The lamb chop by the piece ($11.95) was bit gamier than I'd like but was cooked to a perfect medium doneness. A complimentary honey cake arrives for the table and is almost like having baklava in cake form. Just watch out, as the moist crumbly cake is difficult to pick up with a fork. Don't waste a bit of this delicious dessert, just use your fingers.

Me and some family members were in the area, and decided to give it a try. We were greeted and seated promptly and then, for the longest time ... nothing. As it turned out, we'd spend a lot longer at this restaurant than we had anticipated. After about 20 minutes, a kind and apparently exhausted waitress appeared, so we ordered drinks and saganaki to start. 10 minutes later, our drinks appeared, and we ordered our main courses then. Although the menu gave prices for wine by the glass, half litre or bottle, we were told that they don't have enough wine to offer any more than a glass at a time. Strange, and unexpected. Eventually, the saganaki (Greek flaming cheese) arrived, and it was really, really good - a generous triangle of grilled, flaming cheese, easily split between the three of us. It was served with some odd bread, which resembled buttered and toasted hot dog or burger buns. This helped take the edge off our hunger as we waited for our main course. And waited. Looking at the time, I noticed that we had already spent over 60 minutes in the restaurant, which was extremely chilly on a cold winter's evening. Many customers, including us, wore their coats throughout the evening. Apparently, the restaurant dining area is heated only by two electric fire places. Our waitress came out and let us know that we had to wait because my daughter's order of octopus was taking a while. At this point, we had already committed to being here, so we had no choice but to see it through. Finally, the food came out. My daughter's octopus was, sadly, overcooked and tough, but still tasty, and the lemon roasted potatoes were excellent. My husband's roasted lamb did not seem like it was prepared as a roast, as there was no browning or roast] flavor, but seemed to have been prepared in a pressure cooker or slow cooker. I had ordered the Moussaka, and had high expectations, based on my memory of Milo's creamy, eggplant-filled, nicely seasoned Moussaka of my distant, long-ago previous visit. However, my portion of Moussaka had the oddest texture: rather mushy and grainy. The well-seasoned, savory tasting ground beef of my memories had now been transformed into a rather average-tasting ground beef mixture that would have been equally at home in a sloppy joe. And I could not find an eggplant in the casserole at all ... well, maybe it had somehow been reduced to such mushiness that it lost it's eggplant quality, but I could swear that it was missing. It was all edible food, though, but not up to our expectations. I hate to give any place a lowly, two-star review. I had hoped for much more, because there is so much about Milo's to raise one's hopes: it's not a big chain, but locally, family-run; it has an appealing and timeless Mediterranean decor; and the menu offers many interesting Greek choices. A few small changes would be an upgrade: better bread, some additional staff and a few space heaters would be a good start. Milo's is the type of restaurant that I would love to support, but I've read enough reviews with similar observations that I am unlikely to return.

It was a really nice spot for a special night... cozy, welcoming, and not overly loud. We enjoyed everything we ordered, but the saganaki was definitely the standout. Beyond the presentation, the cheese itself was excellent... crisp on the outside, warm and soft inside, and really well seasoned. Easily something I'd come back for. The mango ginger spritz was light and refreshing, not too sweet, the Australian lamb chops were cooked nicely, tender, and full of flavor without being overly heavy. Nice! Greek Metaxa 7-star (years aged, 80 proof) brandy is so expensive (now: US$35/750mL imported, $21-32 in Greece; 1974: $7-10), they use Russian brandy for the saganaki (sad, I know! Greece inflation has varied from -4.6 (2013) to +26.6% (1974), averaging 7.8%/yr, with cumulative increase 1974-2026 of 6.75x, so a 3x increase in the price of Metaxa 7-star seems like a deal!). I mentioned to the server that the Horiatiki salad was the best I've had since living Greece! Greek restaurants where I'm from (San Diego, California) use Roma tomato, small feta crumbles (so little feta it's just "feh", not imported from Greece), no oregano, cheap olive oil. Souvlaki -- both chicken and pork -- arrives beautifully charred and succulent, the kind of straightforward execution that reminds you why the classics endure. A rotating specials board speaks to a kitchen that remains engaged and seasonally curious, while starters such as the spicy tirokafteri and grilled calamari demonstrate a confident command of texture and flavour in equal measure. The grilled octopus, when available, is not to be overlooked. Service here carries its own distinct character: spirited, warm, and refreshingly personal. The staff bring an infectious energy to the floor that elevates the experience well beyond the transactional. They are, in the best sense, part of the dining room's atmosphere. The food was otherwise very tasty. I'm only giving the atmosphere 3 stars because we could smell cigarette smoke coming in from outside. The smell linger throughout the entire time we were there. It made our dining experience less enjoyable. I would still come back, but next time we will stress again dietary restrictions and allergies.
