I ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner and was alarmed at the over $20 sticker price and upon paying they told me cash only. However The food quality and portions lived up to the hype and the huge price tag. I mean, look at the pictures. The Greek salad was by itself in a rather large box. The rice and potatoes were abundant and the chicken, the chicken skewer was humongous. Definitely worth the full $20 price. I can't wait for my next visit. And maybe I'll dine in next time as the seating looked vast and comfortable. An easy recommendation for all your greasy spoon favourites.

We were delighted with the tasty food and the good service. Croissant Benedict with scrambled eggs and turkey bacon Merguez Shakshuka Avocado Toast Landwer's Rosalach, half portion with Nutella filling I ordered a Croissant Benedict which usually comes with poached eggs on a butter croissant, avocado, and homemade hollandaise sauce. I ordered the eggs scrambled, avocado on the side, and turkey bacon as an add-on. It was served with crushed potatoes. My sister ordered the Merguez Shakshuka, consisting of beef sausage, cherry tomatoes, roasted onion, and parsley. It was served with two eggs, tahini, side salad, and challah roll. Our family member ordered Avocado Toast consisting of sourdough toast, cherry tomatoes, radish, chili flakes, hard boiled egg, and feta cheese. All of the food was delicious and filling. Though we saved room for dessert where we ordered a half portion of Landwer's Rosalach, which is freshly rolled dough filled with a creamy sweet filling of our choice and baked to order. We ordered a Nutella filling. Yum!!!! The restaurant had fun decor, and the staff were helpful. This location of Cafe Landwer is open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM. You can make reservations all day on weekdays or on weekends after 3 PM. Brunch is first come, first serve. You can make a reservation or get on the waitlist through Yelp. There is street parking nearby. They also have a "Six, Seven" bar menu on their website with special prices. You can go to the Cafe Landwer website at https://www.landwer.ca. There are five locations in Canada and yet other locations in the United States. On the website, you can find menus with lunch, dinner, happy hour, dessert, and kids' options. You can also find another place to make reservations, gift card information, rewards program, catering, private dining, and online ordering. You can find more about their rewards program at https://www.landwer.ca/landwers-rewards in which you can earn "beans" to be redeemed for free coffee, desserts, and dishes. My sister and I agreed that we'd both visit again in the future with family (or on our own) as we enjoyed it!

Long time visitor. Not anymore. I'm honestly disappointed in myself for how many times I gave this…read morebusiness the benefit of the doubt. I supported this small business because I believe in supporting small businesses, and along the way I overlooked far more than I should have: the questionable business practices I had heard about, concerns about how staff are employed and paid, complaints about how people have been treated, the lack of cleanliness and upkeep, and the hit-and-miss quality. I made excuses because it was a small business and even defended it when others raised concerns. Looking back, I shouldn't have overlooked any of it. But bringing your small business into far-right politics is something I cannot overlook. Everyone is entitled to their political beliefs, but I'm equally entitled to decide where I spend my money. I cannot support a business that has chosen to associate itself with division, hostility and hate. Like so many Beaches East York residents. Their loyalty was because of the founders. They worked so hard to build the business into what it was, which makes it incredibly disappointing to see what has happened to it. To the current owner, you were given a fully functional and popular restaurant with an established place in the Danforth community. You didn't build this. The current state of the business reflects, a lack of care and respect for what your family built and entrusted to you. Using that family legacy for political attention is a disrespectful and disgraceful act. I'm embarrassed that I defended this business for as long as I did, everyone knows they are shady and operate below the board. Everyone just didn't say anything out of respect to the original founders. No one wanted to say it but the current owner has run it into the ground and has been doing so for years. I won't be supporting it or its owner again. Enjoy this lesson. It's easier to destroy a business given to you than it is to actually build one. Keep padding your reviews with people who have never been here, haven't eaten here and are just supporting your politics. Guess what? They don't actually spend money at small businesses. Enjoy that hard lesson later on, that's the one that's really going to have an impact. As a long time customer and defender of your restaurant, I'm so embarrassed to have supported you.

The baked beans were nice and warm to compliment your breakfast. I ordered the 3 eggs over easy with 3 sausages and 3 bacon. They actually serve 4 eggs which I assume they are using medium sized eggs. That's OK as the extra makes up for the smaller eggs. You get a choice of toast ( white, whole wheat or rye) along with shredded potato hashbrowns or home fries. My mother-in-law ordered the Western Omelet with ham and onion. She really enjoyed the dish and she managed to eat almost half of the dish. The coffee is bottomless and the service is very friendly. I went in this week and the I asked the waitress to not serve me potatoes and substitute the potatoes for a fruit salad. She said "that is $3 extra" and I agreed, but when I reiterated that I didn't want potatoes, she said she had to make a phone call to verify that it was possible. I asked her why and she said that she didn't think she could NOT put potatoes on my plate.. I asked her to just charge me for the coffee and I'd be on my way. She kept refusing and kept saying she'd go get the food, but at this point I didn't want to pay for burnt eggs and the taste of the griddle on the sausage. She finally agreed to not serve me further and did not charge me for the coffee. I only took a sip anyway, don't go here. GO TO SUNSET GRILL INSTEAD.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.
