Chicken Souvlaki on a Bun
Rachel L.

Overall rating: 4.5/5 Such a staple in the neighbourhood, continuing to serve up Greek fast food for old-school prices and no frills! Go for the chicken souvlaki - it's cooked with that smokey flavour hot off the grill and comes on your choice of a pita or a bun with toppings of your pick. I get mine with extra tzatziki, lemon sauce, lettuce and tomatoes. That will cost you only $6.65+tax for a large roll/wrap! For $13+tax you can get an entire souvlaki dinner served with fries and greek salad. They also have pork souvlaki, homemade burgers ($6+tax), chicken burgers, veal cutlet on a bun, and fries with gravy. Everything is made fresh to order, and while I found the rest of the menu decent, the souvlaki gives you the best bang for your buck. Ask for extra tzatziki as the chicken can be a bit dry depending on the day. Be prepared to wait if you stop by during rush hour. Cash only. There are limited diner booth seating inside for dine-in, and during the warmer weather the outdoor patio is also open.

Great spot on the danforth with parking for a cheap yet filling burger combo! $8 can get you a burger, pop and onion rings! It's my go to spot weekly when I'm down here for work! I get the beef burger special with onion rings instead of fries 50 cent up charge and a Pepsi. My go to topping for burger is tzatziki, bbq, lettuce, tomato and onion.

Walked passed this establishment a few times and finally got the chance to try it! I've noticed how their prices has increased, but they are still fairly reasonable. I tried their chicken souvlaki on pita with fries for 9$+ tax. It tasted good, but the portion was a little small.

Absolutely love this place! Amazing places! Excellent food, can't beat this quality. This is a neighbourhood gem, and has been around since I think the 80's and the prices are insanely cheap for a huge sandwich and gyro. I've never been disappointed when I come here. The staff are a fun bunch, it's a small business that's locally owned. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

June 17/21: Lunch with Dan & Dave. Just a regular burger & rings. The place is small & efficient & curbs out the burgers like a well greased factory. Size of the burger & rings are both kinda small. For the price, it's a do over.

I was walking on Danforth and I went to Square Boy for a quick lunch. Square Boy is a dreary old restaurant that hasn't been upgraded for many years. I guess people like coming to this restaurant because it has been around for many years and the price is really cheap. Square Boy only take cash so bring cash if you want to order anything. I ordered the Pork Souvlaki pita. To be honest, the food was okay, but I can get this meal at any Greek restaurant in the food courts. I sat outside in their patio. The patio was pretty dirty. I guess they only clean the patio at the end of the day.

Burger combo with fries age drink $5.50

I don't know how they keep their prices this low but God bless 'em. Standard burger fare at a cheap price. Very popular spot. Burger combo with drink is $5.50. Crazy ! I got the separate order of fries and gravy for $3.50. I feel bad complaining it was a bit small but it was ! I rather pay $5 for a larger portion. Food was nothing to write home about but it's a classic burger place with decent food. Not many like it around anymore. Nice that they're still in business.

I get why Square Boy is a neighbourhood staple: For the meager price of a Big Mac, you get a much better burger - charbroiled, better quality meat, and loaded with toppings. While not the best burger in the city, for that price, it's a definite "I need a quick fix, where do I go that's cheap and good" option. Given the number of people who love Square Boy, suggest ordering in advance; otherwise, it's a 30min wait if you come at the wrong time.

Well, here it is... a review of my favourite fast food joint in all of Canada, not just Toronto. Been coming here for several years now, despite the fact that I live in the west end of the city... any time I cross that Bloor Viaduct, Square Boy seems to reel me in. I'll go to the east end for one thing and end up saying to myself "well, now I'm here [meaning within a 5km radius!], might as well go to Square Boy". The staff are some of the most amazing individuals that I've ever had prepare a meal for me (if you know, you know!). Some truly great characters there, I love them all. The food is classic Greek street/takeout style, at least that's what I imagine it would be like. As my hero Gordon Ramsay would say, "the best menu is a simple one, done right". Square Boy does it right. I've been here dozens of times and never gone home disappointed. My personal favourite is the gyro on a pita, however the chicken souvlaki is pretty special too. They also do a pretty good burger. And the fries with gravy unleashes my inner Irishman and memories of gravy chips back in the UK. Prices are extremely reasonable, you'll never feel ripped off here. Do remember to take cash though as it's a cash only establishment. Square Boy seems to be enjoying a new, fresh audience these days, thanks to its increased social media presence -I think this is great! However, I'm secretly annoyed (not really) on the inside because I always thought that this amazing place was my own little secret. I wish Square Boy continued success -I'll finish my review by saying that it's a good thing for my waist size that I live on the other side of town -or I'd be here all the time!

It's suitable for gatherings, birthdays and is fully functional during the dance nights on the patio. Patio is covered and heated and on Friday & Saturday nights will only offer bottle service and dance parties with a live DJ. We made a reservation for Friday evening on the patio. Unfortunately, the servers seated all couples cramped in one corner, even though there were many tables available; that made everyone uncomfortable. We ordered Red Wine, "Trio Dip" and "Spaducci Skewers". The food was delicious, but we could've enjoyed our night even more if the sitting arrangements were better.

The seating arrangement was cramped, uncomfortable, and felt completely inappropriate for a restaurant that presents itself as an upscale dining destination. What was even more disappointing was the manager's attitude. When I politely raised concerns about the seating and overall setup, instead of showing professionalism or courtesy, he was dismissive, defensive, and surprisingly rude. There was no attempt to listen, understand, or improve the situation. The serving staff were polite and did their best, but the management completely overshadowed their efforts. The level of service is nowhere near what you would expect for the prices being charged. Unfortunately, this restaurant lacks the professionalism, hospitality, and attention to customer experience that are fundamental to fine dining. I would not recommend Paros to anyone. There are many better options in Yorkville that actually understand customer service and treat guests with respect.

Very solid place that one probably had a similar experience if they went there 20 years ago…read more I had the moussaka and it was just what I wanted. The rice was actually a lot better than I expected. I know it's just a side, but rice at times from other Greek places isn't that great, and this was much better. My wife had the mix grill plate, and I helped. She absolutely loved the lamb. It was largely over the quality and the prep was fairly standard, but there's nothing wrong with that. The other parts didn't jump out, but were still perfectly good. The service was very attentive.

Having had moussaka ($33.95) at more chain-like Greek restaurants, Pantheon's version is lighter…read moreand fresher tasting. The potato layer feels fluffy and sandwiches thinly sliced eggplant, so the aubergine is rather pronounced. The ground beef mixture wasn't overly spiced and even the bechamel sauce was a thin layer, so it toasts the top but doesn't saturate the slice. Ultimately, it's not heavy so you could get through a full portion. A flaming saganaki ($19.95), the pan fried kefalotiri cheese, is a staple in Canadian Greek restaurants. It seems touristy to order but there's something endearing about setting a piece of cheese on fire and yelling "opa"! For me, the dish is more for the atmosphere than taste. Pantheon pan fries the cheese well, so it develops a crust even prior to flambeeing and serves it as a thick gooey slice. If only the accompanying bread wasn't so dry and mealy, a good saganaki calls for a better complement. Almost all their mains arrive with a sizeable Greek side salad that's smartly served first containing ample amounts of crumbled feta and some tomato, cucumbers, and onion over romaine. Their dressing is different, tamer and while still acidic there's a sweetness to it. Not sure, but perhaps they use a red wine vinegar and then blend the ingredients together so it's better combined? With the fishkebob souvlaki ($36.95) I was expecting fish, but it's really a seafood kebob containing shrimp, calamari and mushroom. It's cooked well with a faint grilled aroma, very tender, and lightly salted. Sadly, my steamed vegetables were merely carrots and didn't have the delicious garlicky green beans included on my friends' plates. Luckily, there was plenty with the moussaka so I could augment mine. At least there was an ample portion of roasted lemon potatoes that were soft and fluffy with a refreshing pronounced citrus finish. Pantheon doesn't skimp on the lamb chops that arrive with the entrée. And if you can't decide on what protein you'd like, their menu also offers some as add-ons. The lamb chop by the piece ($11.95) was bit gamier than I'd like but was cooked to a perfect medium doneness. A complimentary honey cake arrives for the table and is almost like having baklava in cake form. Just watch out, as the moist crumbly cake is difficult to pick up with a fork. Don't waste a bit of this delicious dessert, just use your fingers.

Milo's Greek Restaurant has been in its Pickering location forever. It was here when I moved to…read morePickering, 25 years ago, and it has been ages since I've been back. Me and some family members were in the area, and decided to give it a try. We were greeted and seated promptly and then, for the longest time ... nothing. As it turned out, we'd spend a lot longer at this restaurant than we had anticipated. After about 20 minutes, a kind and apparently exhausted waitress appeared, so we ordered drinks and saganaki to start. 10 minutes later, our drinks appeared, and we ordered our main courses then. Although the menu gave prices for wine by the glass, half litre or bottle, we were told that they don't have enough wine to offer any more than a glass at a time. Strange, and unexpected. Eventually, the saganaki (Greek flaming cheese) arrived, and it was really, really good - a generous triangle of grilled, flaming cheese, easily split between the three of us. It was served with some odd bread, which resembled buttered and toasted hot dog or burger buns. This helped take the edge off our hunger as we waited for our main course. And waited. Looking at the time, I noticed that we had already spent over 60 minutes in the restaurant, which was extremely chilly on a cold winter's evening. Many customers, including us, wore their coats throughout the evening. Apparently, the restaurant dining area is heated only by two electric fire places. Our waitress came out and let us know that we had to wait because my daughter's order of octopus was taking a while. At this point, we had already committed to being here, so we had no choice but to see it through. Finally, the food came out. My daughter's octopus was, sadly, overcooked and tough, but still tasty, and the lemon roasted potatoes were excellent. My husband's roasted lamb did not seem like it was prepared as a roast, as there was no browning or roast] flavor, but seemed to have been prepared in a pressure cooker or slow cooker. I had ordered the Moussaka, and had high expectations, based on my memory of Milo's creamy, eggplant-filled, nicely seasoned Moussaka of my distant, long-ago previous visit. However, my portion of Moussaka had the oddest texture: rather mushy and grainy. The well-seasoned, savory tasting ground beef of my memories had now been transformed into a rather average-tasting ground beef mixture that would have been equally at home in a sloppy joe. And I could not find an eggplant in the casserole at all ... well, maybe it had somehow been reduced to such mushiness that it lost it's eggplant quality, but I could swear that it was missing. It was all edible food, though, but not up to our expectations. I hate to give any place a lowly, two-star review. I had hoped for much more, because there is so much about Milo's to raise one's hopes: it's not a big chain, but locally, family-run; it has an appealing and timeless Mediterranean decor; and the menu offers many interesting Greek choices. A few small changes would be an upgrade: better bread, some additional staff and a few space heaters would be a good start. Milo's is the type of restaurant that I would love to support, but I've read enough reviews with similar observations that I am unlikely to return.

It was a really nice spot for a special night... cozy, welcoming, and not overly loud. We enjoyed everything we ordered, but the saganaki was definitely the standout. Beyond the presentation, the cheese itself was excellent... crisp on the outside, warm and soft inside, and really well seasoned. Easily something I'd come back for. The mango ginger spritz was light and refreshing, not too sweet, the Australian lamb chops were cooked nicely, tender, and full of flavor without being overly heavy. We ended the perfect night with baklava and vanilla ice cream. It was flaky, just sweet enough to be shared between us. Portions weren't huge, but we left feeling content. We did have to make a reservation well in advance, which I'd definitely recommend. Prices feel appropriate for a special occasion rather than an everyday dinner. The salad will forever have too much dressing and will be the unhealthiest thing but the souvlaki here was honestly the most shocking thing. Mind you I have not been in six and a half or seven years so don't take my word for it, but for a place to be around this long and still have loyal customers - they're really doing something right, it's not just sheer luck so give it a go! There is zero ambiance or date night feel here, okay. Don't take your girl unless you've been married over ten years. It's boys or girls night out material only. haha
