Someone told us they would be right back to help us, but never returned, so we eventually had to ask the host to move us. It took around 10 minutes just to get our drink order taken, and our food and drinks arrived roughly 20 minutes later. Throughout the evening, I had to track down our server to order a second drink. Later, I had to find another server just to ask for our check and to go boxes. They also completely forgot my friend's appetizer. There were six of us and we sat at the bar facing one TV she set up for us to watch the race on. There was one other group on the other side of the bar, about eight of them, I think. Everyone was eating and drinking and I, being the DD, was only allowed to have one drink per hour BOO. But, I made the most of it. Karen REALLY knows how to make an old fashioned and when I asked her to make one with her best Mezcal, she did and it was FABULOUS. My bestie, wanted a Mezcal cocktail, too and Karen made her one with apple and jalapeno that she loved. The boys drank giant beers. We also tried out some nachos, wings and my dad got a baked potato. The potato was the only disappointment in the experience because it was on the hard side, but otherwise, we had a fun afternoon and really enjoyed getting to know Karen. Dante went to great pains to explain how they source their ingredients and that many of them are made in-house--getting rarer every day, unfortunately. The exterior and interior would win no House Beautiful contest, but with food like this, who cares? My cousin and I got the Deli Burger with pastrami that actually would stand on its own. The beef was cooked spot-on with the accompanying ingredients bringing it together into a perfect whole. We got fries and onion rings; both were way above average and with a knock-your-socks-off horseradish sauce to dunk them in, I couldn't have been happier. But what truly sets Betty's apart is they sincerely care about their food and their customers. Let me repeat that--THEY CARE! Many restaurants have lost that but not here. So, if you come to Rosarito and don't stop by Betty's, your trip just won't be complete. My Brother in law was with me along with my son and my nephew. I had seen this place recommended by "The Boredom Report " ( JT my apologies but your guy here is out of line) many times and was excited to try this place as I always am when in Baja. The Yellowfin tuna we had was swimming just a few hours prior. So good!!! They use locally sourced and only the highest quality and freshest ingredients. The staff is super friendly and fun - we spent 2 afternoons there and they were awesome! My two teen-aged daughters and my wife and I really enjoyed it. It's a good size place with beautiful inside and outside areas - good for families and the party crowd. I hope we'll be able to come back one day soon!!!
