Came to Playa Del Fin, in Puerto Nuevo, for appetizers only, so we could have lunch somewhere else, in the same town. This way, we get the chance to try two restaurants. The seating area has a magnetic view of the ocean. However, the sun was very strong and even though they partially pulled down the shades, the glare was strong. First came the salsa and chips. Both were excellent. Oysters on the half shell were fresh and had a smooth transition into the mouth and beyond. Service was attentive and courteous.

Wow! What a view! The food was very good, hospitality was amazing! A bit rustic but, absolute water front dining with the best view in Puerto Nuevo.

Good things: - Ocean view - Drinks - Generous Food portions Meh things: - Tip: pay for parking ($10 USD) if you don't want to drive round and round looking for a spot closer. If you do want a close spot, godspeed. - In dire need of a remodel/ slippery floors Best thing about Playa Delfín is the scenery. Our party of 9 was sat by the window overlooking the ocean (which my 2 y/o thoroughly enjoyed). Food was good. Lobster's aren't as big as I used to remember, way back in the day. Drinks were decent and service was so-so. Overall not a bad place to bring the family for food views while eating.

Wow!! Fantastic restaurant in Puerto Nuevo. We had gone to Restaurante El Guero the day before expecting a great lobster lunch and it disappointed. Some family members that lived in the area recommended this restaurant the next day and oh man it was great! Fresh food, fun ambience, great prices, and generous portions. I got the Combinación Playa Delfín and it included a big lobster tail cooked to perfection, a whole fried Mojarra (fish), 6 big shrimps seasoned and cooked beautifully, a salad, Mexican rice, refried beans, salsa, and a complimentary margarita (which my wife loved). It was outstanding, so tasty and fresh! Also it is over the cliff, so it has a beautiful view of the ocean. If you are in Puerto Nuevo, don't let fancier video reviews trick you, this is the spot to go eat. From the locals to us tourists, I can tell you that this is it. Very recommended.

Playa Delfin was the second lobster joint I hit up when going to Puerto Nuevo, and I thoroughly enjoyed it here. Our table was outside and on the top level with the view of the ocean, but unlike Villa Ortega's, their lobster was more flavorful. Their special was four small lobster tails, for $20 (which is about the standard price), and it came with tortillas, rice and beans (which is also standard). I think it is evident from the photos of Playa Delfin's lobster in comparison to Villa Ortega's that there is more flavor and seasoning. I really like the lobster here also because there is a good and equal amount in each tail. Honestly, I forgot if we received tortilla soup or not, but at this rate, that doesn't matter because their food made up for it. I believe since it was my best friend's birthday, in addition to the drinks we ordered, we all got margaritas on the house! Their drinks were so tasty, we wanted to keep ordering more. Overall, the service was better here and their lobster (comparable to La Casa del Pescador) is definitely better than Villa Ortega's.

If you're traveling in Baja and lobster is one of your favorite things to eat, you absolutely, positively, must stop in to Puerto Nuevo, a little town between Rosarito and Ensenda. There are many places located in Puerto Nuevo which serve up lobster, but for you, my faithful Yelp follower, I'll letting you know the place to get the best deal and view while dining, is Play Delfin. As you walk down the streets of Puerto Neuvo, plenty of restaurant workers will call you into their eating establishment. They'll shout things like "best lobster in town" or "cheap lobster specials" or "my mom is the cook here" (seriously). Keep walking down the street and hang a left at the "T" in the road to find Playa Delfin. Make sure you talk to the guy trying to get your business outside the Playa Delfin, as he'll offer you a special for that day, which won't be on the menu when you sit down (don't worry, ask about that offer at the table and they'll gladly provide it to you). On my first trip, I was offered 4 lobsters (8 halves), rice, beans, fresh flour tortillas, 3 margaritas, chicken tortilla soup and chips and salsa for only $50. Yeah, that's like $10 per lobster my friends, and they brought the lobsters to my table for me to choose which I wanted to devour. The best part is that they deep fry these suckers quickly, which give them a nice little crunch, without giving them too rubbery of a texture when you eat them. On my second visit, I went with the $16 combo: 1 lobster (2 halves), shrimp, "catch of the day" fish, rice, beans, flour tortillas, salad, margarita, chips and salsa. An absolute feast for one person, which you could totally share, at an insanely reasonable price. This place also has one of the best views in Puerto Nuevo. Ask to dine downstairs, and you'll be taken to a patio that stretches out over the shore, where you get an impressive view of the ocean.

Been here before and I loved their aguachile. Had to come back and get the aguachile and try something new. The aguachile tasted just as good as the first time I tried it. I also tried camarones a la Diabla (shrimp with a spicy sauce), but didn't like it. This may sound weird, but I like my seafood to not taste too fishy. The sauce has to reduce that fishy taste and this a La Diabla sauce wasn't enough. The shrimp are pretty big and they are generous with how many shrimp they put in the plate. This plate also come with a side of beans, rice and HUGE flour tortillas. It wouldn't be a trip out to Puerto Nuevo without these side dishes! I also ordered the strawberry Margarita and that was amazing! From the presentation to the flavor the Margarita exceeded my expectations and that is because it is a fresh Margarita (yep real strawberries were used).

Great location, especially at sunset if you're out on the outdoor patio. Try to get under the umbrellas for seagull protection! The service was decent, servers friendly. Food was okay. We ordered the three of the $16 lobster dinners and one $22 lobster dinner. The $22 lobsters were larger than the $16 ones. The lobsters were a bit overcooked and when we left we asked how they were cooked and they said fried, we're guessing deep fried? They didn't seem particularly greasy, but they were very hot when they arrived, Each plate came with two halves and the tortillas, rice and beans were served family style. I don't eat beans, but my husband seemed to like them. The rice was good and the tortillas freshly made and LARGE. Unfortunately the chips provided were stale and when we asked for new ones they were also stale. I didn't try the salsa because my dad said it was quite hot. The margaritas weren't very strong, but they were limey. No Dos Equis beer available, darn it. They do take Visa and Mastercard. They have free WiFi, just ask for the password. Overall, it was a fine meal. Not the best, but I've had worse. With the MANY lobster houses in Puerto Nuevo, I would go to another next time. We went on a Friday night, I do not recommend going on a Saturday or even a Sunday if it's a holiday weekend... PN was PACKED the day before Labor Day and they were charging for parking!

This place had a nice ocean and city view from window. The 3 Lobster Halves where just right and rice and beans were good but Margarita was not made right or Low grade tequila was added. Other than that, I would eat here again.

This town is known for their lobsters!! This is a hidden gem, be sure to walk all the way back to this establishment. Who doesnt want beachfront view while eating their lobster! The service was amazing and the food even more. I recommend just getting the grilled lobster, they come in 3 sizes, 15$,20$, 30$ for a pair of lobsters! It comes with rice and beans and fresh flour tortilla! Its definitely enough food if you order a pair of the medium size.

Luckily, Siete Mares was a solid backup option. The restaurant has three floors, each with a different vibe. The first floor is quiet and relaxed, the second floor is pretty hot with no open windows for fresh air, and the top floor has a norteño band that sounds amazing but is super loud--definitely not the best for conversation. My family chose to sit on the bottom floor, where we enjoyed a nice cool breeze and a great ocean view. There's a small outdoor balcony, but it's only big enough for small groups. I started with a strawberry margarita, which was just okay--not much flavor. Then I tried a michelada with Dos XX beer and a Tajín-rimmed glass, and it was delicious! Definitely the better choice. For food, we had the lobster, stuffed shrimp, breaded shrimp, carne asada quesadilla, and rice with beans. Everything was decent, but nothing really stood out as amazing. What really made the experience enjoyable was the great service! The staff was super attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Overall, it was a good experience, especially with the ocean view. I'd come back to have a michelada and listen to the Norteño band.

They appeared to be operating separately, but we chose the newer restaurant. It was a Saturday night and there was a band playing. We sat in the bar past the entertainment, which was good because we were not overwhelmed with sitting right next to a live band and speakers. We were able to talk and enjoy your evening. They sat us next to a window and the view was five stars + . It was absolutely beautiful to hear the ocean and see the sunset. I ordered a pepino margarita and it was delicious. We ordered fried oysters ( had never had these before) and a ceviche for appetizers. Both appetizers were well done and tasted good. My main entrée was the seafood soup/caldo de mariscos. The broth had a little kick to it and there was a large assortment of the seafood. It was really good and I would order it again. There was a LARGE crab leg and a portion of lobster as well. I was really impressed with the crab leg. I have never had that much meat from a crab leg. It was delicious . We also ordered a fish dish, which was recommended by the waiter. It was good and the fish (curvina) was excellent, not overcooked or undercooked. The only setback on the fish dish was the mashed potatoes. They seemed a little cold when the dish came out. The only other setback were the corn tortillas. Somehow they didn't hit the mark on freshness and taste. We travel a lot to various restaurants in the region and most of the time the tortillas are freshly made. We do have a high standard when it comes to homemade tortillas. These tortillas did not impress. The dessert- chocolate cake. Stater Bros. or CaliMax would have been better. No rating for the dessert The waiter was attentive and provided space which I like. Big Lobsters, Great Service... But the Flavor Never Arrived…read more If you're looking for an honest review, this one is a mix of highs and lows. Unfortunately, I won't be returning unless some things change. For now, I'll stick with my usual lobster spot where I know exactly what to expect. I'm an experienced lobster eater at least 2-3x's a month. I especially am familiar with Puerto Nuevo style being a San Diegan. We visited on a Friday around noon with a large group, and the restaurant was otherwise quiet. The staff was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and quick to serve. Service was easily one of the strongest parts of the experience. We started with the fish taco appetizer. It was underwhelming, and I didn't even finish it. The chips and salsa, however, were absolutely delicious. My margarita leaned heavily on the "marga" and forgot about the "rita." It wasn't well balanced. This is why I am pro shots. Never disappointed. The entertainment was good. The mariachi played at just the right volume so you could still enjoy a conversation, and later a jazz musician performed who was incredibly talented. The fresh tortillas deserve their own applause. They were soft, flavorful, and far better than your average restaurant tortilla. Now for the lobster. Visually? Wow. These were some of the biggest lobsters I've ever seen. Since we were a large party, plate after plate came out with huge, impressive lobsters. But looks can only take you so far. The lobster itself was surprisingly bland. The meat was tough, dry, and lacked any flavor lobster lovers expect. Even the drawn butter tasted more like unseasoned melted margarine than butter. Thankfully, I carry Trader Joe's Chili Lime Seasoning in my bag because it was the only thing that made the lobster enjoyable. Without it, I honestly don't think I would have eaten much of it. I did leave half. The refried beans were actually delicious, although I personally don't eat lard, so knowing they contained it kept me from fully enjoying them. And the lobster can likely be cooked in lard what the succulent seasonings can mask it. Not this time. The dining room also needs some attention. The white chairs with decorative ribbons would be beautiful if they were clean. Every chair at our table was soiled and gave me the shibbee geebees. I covered mine with a sarong I happened to have with me. The restroom was the biggest disappointment. I understand the local plumbing system requires toilet paper to be disposed of in trash bins, but those trash bins need to be emptied frequently. The odor was overwhelming. I literally had to hold my tummy to avoid vomiting. Overall, I truly wanted to love this experience because there were several things the restaurant got right: outstanding service, great live music, excellent fresh tortillas, and delicious chips and salsa. Right now, the service is carrying the meal, and that's simply not enough for me to make a return trip. "When you're known for lobster, the lobster has to be the star."

And, a requested Diet Coke was supplied to wash everything down. Of course, the highlight of the meal was the Fried Lobster made Baja style. I was happy to note that my lobster was large, with two main sections of tender meat. I noted that Diane's lobster was not as big as mine. The lobster meat was tender and delicious, with a golden Drawn Butter concoction to drizzle over it. Mariachis played songs to add to the rustic Mexican ambiance of the place.
