If you're looking for the ultimate seafood escape with views that soothe your soul and flavors that dance on your tongue, RUN to Poseidon in Puerto Nuevo. I'm here on a quick getaway before the school year consumes my entire existence (fellow teachers, you feel me), and this place was exactly the recharge I needed. First of all, location perfection. We literally parked right in front. My car was safe the whole time, and I tipped the guy just to keep an eye on it, but really, it couldn't have been more secure or convenient. This restaurant is perched on a cliff overlooking the crashing waves of the Pacific. Floor-to-ceiling windows give you a front-row seat to the ocean's endless performance. Modern vibe with cement and structural steel. It's serene, breathtaking, and a total feast for the eyes. Speaking of feasts... OH. MY. SEAFOOD. We ordered the mega seafood platter and it came out in a giant boat-shaped dish (yes, a BOAT!) loaded with succulent lobster tail, tender octopus, sweet crab claws, flaky fish, and plump shrimp. It was preceded by a warm, comforting seafood soup. A live mariachi band serenaded while we ate, and the vibe was festive without being overwhelming. And for those traveling with little ones, there's an adorable kids' area in the center of the restaurant with a slide and tiny chairs. We traveled with a one-year-old who was entertained and safe. The prices were reasonable (but pricy) for the quality and experience. Just a heads up: lots of places around here try to lure you in with flashy discounts, but honestly, they are gimmicks. Everyone's just getting young in the door. TLDR: The food, views, and service speak for themselves. I keep braving the border wait at San Ysidro for a reason... worth it.
Puerto Nuevo is a wonderful place to visit, especially for its vibrant atmosphere and renowned lobster dishes. The lobster, nachos, drinks is so good! The soup is okay for me. The atmosphere is wonderful and the people are friendly.
This is a massive restaurant facing the ocean, with four levels. Two people told me that they take credit cards, but let it be known - they DO NOT take credit cards. So get cash ahead of time (pesos or dollars). The restaurant is extremely clean, with beautiful windows facing the ocean. They definitely structured this location to take advantage of the wonderful view here. The classic Puerto Nuevo dish is langosta/lobster, served with rice beans, and tortillas. And that's what I had. The days of this meal being just a few dollars are over, and you will be paying a premium price for this location and the view. Unfortunately, the lobsters were very much overcooked. It seems like, reading the other reviews, overcooking everything is a feature of this restaurant. To handle large groups like ours, they may have food sit in warmers for a while. The portions of rice and beans were small, but it worked with the complimentary chips to feed our group. Service was not great at first - we had a long wait before orders were taken. But after that, the service was prompt and very good. When they told me that my credit card was no good there, they were patient while I searched the local area for an ATM machine. There is complimentary parking in their lot next to the restaurant, and there is a large hill going back up to the highway. So be prepared to walk uphill after eating at this location.
This place is huge with 4 stories. The service is pretty good with staff around. The seafood platter is huge with something for everyone. The fish was a bit fishy but everything was ok. The ceviche and shrimp quesadilla were good. The handmade tortillas were really good. Prices are decent with a large menu with items from sea and land.
So the best thing about this place is the view. The food was just okay. Ive been coming down here for years and wanted to try something new. Bacon wrapped shrimp was better than the lobster. To me the lobster had no flavor. The lobster was over cooked and was tough to eat. My steak was overcooked and I couldn't tell you what cut of meat it was. I know how to cook Puerto style lobster back home so I was not impressed. I will say the prices were low enough we didn't feel ripped off.
Came here for the 1st time, food and service is good but they do not accept credit card so you must pay cash, unfortunately, the restaurant current exchange currency is $16.00 Mexican pesos which is way low compared with other places at $17.50. I won't recommend this place due the lack of charges.
The view at this restaurant is amazing! The food was delicious, we started off by ordering 8 micheladas, 2 guacamole and 4 orders of lobster tail specials which includes 6 tails, rice, beans and tortillas. All for $160 for a party of 7 The service was a bit slow but understandable because of the short staff. The waitress was very patient and served us well. Handicap parking is available and this restaurant is also wheelchair friendly. It has recently opened about 2 yrs ago. Plenty of parking spaces.
Amazing view and excellent service. Food is on par with what you should expect in PN but their Bloody Marys are the absolute best in all of my bloody marrying.

They have their own big parking lot. It felt very safe. They have like 3 floors with floor to ceiling windows so you can see the beautiful ocean view. The service was prompt and good. We ordered a Mariscada #1 for 1,850 pesos. It was enough for 4 people. You can always ask for more flour tortillas, rice & beans. The lobster and shrimp were tasty. The freshly made flour tortillas are huge and delicious! I ordered a piña cola 4/5. It can get a little noisy with the various mariachi or lively band that plays if you pay them, Enjoy. read more

Me and my hubby came here in July. We were seated right away, and our server was friendly and attentive. The drinks were really good and strong, and the shrimp and lobster were really fresh! Just what we were looking for. read more

Around 11am on Sunday my girlfriend and I with one other table were the only ones here. Slow service. Ribeye was horrible. Lobster over cooked no flavor read more

After a majestic horse ride into the beach i was startled by my appetite, i hastily looked for a tasty meal EL POSEIDON caught my eye, as i was escorted by a very persistent man who was promising breakfast. As i enter the establishment i was greeted by a waitress and asked where I would like to be seated without any hesitation i asked her to seat me on the second floor with a beachfront scenery, the place looks beautiful but after taking a closer view at things i quickly started to see the flaws of the unfinished building and interior. I ordered a lobster with filet and i was presented with a tasteless dish that didn't match my beachfront scenery i made the best out of my time with my company as the food left me desiring more. read more
Delicious margaritas and food! Medium lobster is a decent size I could have definitely had another one. The beans, rice and tortillas all worked together to get me full. Beautiful ocean view seating. It's big and airy and fyi it's at the bottom of the street so it's a long walk down and back up (inclined hill for the ladies in heels) bring flats. read more

Its been about 10 years since we went to Puerto Nuevo. It was the first time we ate at Poesidion. Everything was so fresh and delicious. But the tortillas... The prices were excellent also. It won't be 10 years until our return. read more

This place is a bit hidden but worth checking out. Prices are reasonable and the food is more than decent. I have to say the best part is the view you get with your meal. read more

Been here twice so far and very fresh and delicious food. Like all the other restuarants in area they offer lobster specials and all come with a complimentary drink. The lobster I delicious, the guacamole is made to order, the agua chile we ordered they had options of red or green.... Basically everything on point. The service is good and the views from the terrace are so relaxing, love seeing the ocean while i dine. Recommend this restaurant 100% and will be returning read more

Not very good, rice not good, beans and tortillas were good. Lobster ok. Waitres told us we were supposed to leave a 10% tip. Not coming back. Next time we are going somewhere else. read more
