I'm here on a quick getaway before the school year consumes my entire existence (fellow teachers, you feel me), and this place was exactly the recharge I needed. First of all, location perfection. We literally parked right in front. My car was safe the whole time, and I tipped the guy just to keep an eye on it, but really, it couldn't have been more secure or convenient. This restaurant is perched on a cliff overlooking the crashing waves of the Pacific. Floor-to-ceiling windows give you a front-row seat to the ocean's endless performance. Modern vibe with cement and structural steel. It's serene, breathtaking, and a total feast for the eyes. Speaking of feasts... OH. MY. SEAFOOD. We ordered the mega seafood platter and it came out in a giant boat-shaped dish (yes, a BOAT!) loaded with succulent lobster tail, tender octopus, sweet crab claws, flaky fish, and plump shrimp. It was preceded by a warm, comforting seafood soup. A live mariachi band serenaded while we ate, and the vibe was festive without being overwhelming. And for those traveling with little ones, there's an adorable kids' area in the center of the restaurant with a slide and tiny chairs. We traveled with a one-year-old who was entertained and safe. The prices were reasonable (but pricy) for the quality and experience. Just a heads up: lots of places around here try to lure you in with flashy discounts, but honestly, they are gimmicks. Everyone's just getting young in the door. TLDR: The food, views, and service speak for themselves. I keep braving the border wait at San Ysidro for a reason... worth it. read more

This is a massive restaurant facing the ocean, with four levels. Two people told me that they take credit cards, but let it be known - they DO NOT take credit cards. So get cash ahead of time (pesos or dollars). The restaurant is extremely clean, with beautiful windows facing the ocean. They definitely structured this location to take advantage of the wonderful view here. The classic Puerto Nuevo dish is langosta/lobster, served with rice beans, and tortillas. And that's what I had. The days of this meal being just a few dollars are over, and you will be paying a premium price for this location and the view. Unfortunately, the lobsters were very much overcooked. It seems like, reading the other reviews, overcooking everything is a feature of this restaurant. To handle large groups like ours, they may have food sit in warmers for a while. The portions of rice and beans were small, but it worked with the complimentary chips to feed our group. Service was not great at first - we had a long wait before orders were taken. But after that, the service was prompt and very good. When they told me that my credit card was no good there, they were patient while I searched the local area for an ATM machine. There is complimentary parking in their lot next to the restaurant, and there is a large hill going back up to the highway. So be prepared to walk uphill after eating at this location. read more

So the best thing about this place is the view. The food was just okay. Ive been coming down here for years and wanted to try something new. Bacon wrapped shrimp was better than the lobster. To me the lobster had no flavor. The lobster was over cooked and was tough to eat. My steak was overcooked and I couldn't tell you what cut of meat it was. I know how to cook Puerto style lobster back home so I was not impressed. I will say the prices were low enough we didn't feel ripped off. read more

Came here for the 1st time, food and service is good but they do not accept credit card so you must pay cash, unfortunately, the restaurant current exchange currency is $16.00 Mexican pesos which is way low compared with other places at $17.50. Great location over looking the water. Huge space with plenty of seating and plenty of window tables. We got a couple different plates, one being the $18 special with three lobsters split in two and then lobster with crab claws. They came with a delicious tortilla soup, rice, beans and tortillas. The tortillas, rice and beans are to die for! The lobster was good but I could definitely do without the crab claws. They were pretty dry, maybe over cooked. I'm not sure but they were "ok" but wouldn't order them again. Maybe just an off day for them but too much work for the meat for me. The rest was delicious and I'll definitely be back. read more

We came during during a weekday so it wasn't extremely busy but some small groups. this is a newer spot I've been to several others in the lobster village but this may or may not be my new go to. you don't have to park in the dirt lot before entering the village as this place has their own parking area which seems really secure. this spot is located in the opposite corner or the Famous and somewhat classier Ortega's if you don't know where it is it's at the bottom to closest to the water on the left while Poseidon is on the far right. this place is not fancy but definitely not a hole in the wall spot either. great view we ordered a family platter that was good enough for us 3 adults and 2 children. great service snd prices seemed comparable to most of the other spots. provecho! read more

Rice and beans unflavored. How can you ruin Mexican rice and beans in Mexico? Apparently you can. I ordered garlic shrimp. There was lots of garlic, but the shrimp weren't shelled. I peeled them, and the actual shrimp had no flavor. My fingers did, though, from peeling the shrimp. So a bit of shrimp flavored by licking my fingers after each bite. The Pina Coladas were okay. The food was delicious, we started off by ordering 8 micheladas, 2 guacamole and 4 orders of lobster tail specials which includes 6 tails, rice, beans and tortillas. All for $160 for a party of 7 The service was a bit slow but understandable because of the short staff. The waitress was very patient and served us well. After a majestic horse ride into the beach i was startled by my appetite, i hastily looked for a tasty meal EL POSEIDON caught my eye, as i was escorted by a very persistent man who was promising breakfast. As i enter the establishment i was greeted by a waitress and asked where I would like to be seated without any hesitation i asked her to seat me on the second floor with a beachfront scenery, the place looks beautiful but after taking a closer view at things i quickly started to see the flaws of the unfinished building and interior. Showed up with 6 families, 22 adults and children. Waitress would not separate the bill. We asked if we should go back out and come in one family at a time, she still advised that the owner does not permit splitting bills. I asked to speak to the owner and was denied. I attempted to work something out with the waitress but she did not want to work with me. I told her that if we left, that she would be losing 22 people worth of revenue, she said its ok, we can recuperate it in no time. We got up and left. This was the 2nd time my wife ate lobster at Poseidon and we will be back. The hombre who helps you park is a funny guy and very friendly. Both times we shared the house special which is 3 smallish lobsters and all the fixings for $18US. Mariachi bands can be very loud as the acoustics in the place amplify the music. View is amazing but it can get warm sitting with the sun beating down. Pro tip - open the sliding window above the big window to get some cool ocean air. read more

The food is good and the service is friendly. Don't waste your time on the mixed drinks, they suck. I'm pretty sure they use tang in place on OJ for mimosas and tequila sunrise. The Long Island has a bizarre taste to it we couldn't figure out. All drinks tasted watered down too, including the Agua fresca (we had piña and tamarindo). We gave this place a try and were incredibly disappointed. There couldn't have been more than 5 tables in this massive space with customers and the service was horrible. We waited for about 20 minutes to get a small plate of guacamole with literally 3 chips on it. We asked for more chips and after 10 minutes of waiting one of us went to grab it and only once the waitress saw did she bring us more chips. About 45 minutes in and after checking 2x (at this point we were the only table of customers downstairs) we finally got our food. They forgot one of the meals and the lobsters were dry and not worth the wait. The waitress did nothing to rectify the situation at any point. We spent $113USD on mediocre food and service was horrible! The server women took our order and NEVER came to our table again. I had to call her over even for our bill. When she came back she tried to write over the bill with $131usd instead of the true amount $113 and said that's her tip!!!!! Unbelievable! We gave the $113 and walked out of this establishment very upset! By the way this waiter had tattoos maybe if her boyfriend name on her knuckles with huge fake eye lashes and blond hair.
