Excellent experience dining today at Mariscos La Tia in Popotla! We purchase our seafood (fish, shrimp, and crab) from the nearby fish market, and this place exceeded our expectations when they deliciously prepared our meals! Talk about flavor!! We had them cook the crab with butter and garlic sauce, the shrimp with chile and lime, and our fish fried and "Al Ajillo". The best we've ever had. We definitely found what we've been looking for for years!! And our waitress, Rocio was on top of it, making sure we had refills, bringing homemade tortillas, and anything else we needed. She was great! We'll be back very soon!

La orden te tacos acompañada con una ensaladita. 2 gobernador y uno enchilado.

Excelente servicio, riquísima la comida, muy bonito el restaurante con vista, y había un cantante en vivo. Ya quiero regresar!

Our first time visiting Popotla and we wanted a shrimp cocktail in this sea village, so we decided to try this place. DON'T EAT HERE, THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE! Alfredo (aka Bruce Lee) was a nice guy but that's about it. This rating doesn't reflect his service. The food was expensive and this little town is filthy service.

Service: 5 stars View: 5 stars Food: de-frickin-licious! Actually, service was 6/5 stars!! Sit on the back patio overlooking the ocean Changed from 5 stars to 4 stars when we got our bill -- the owner purposely uses the wrong exchange rate to make another 10%. Recommendation: pay in pesos!!! It's 10% cheaper!!!

Delicious food, excellent customer service, and affordable prices. Walked in with a party of four on Sunday evening at around 5:30 PM. A lot of seating available inside and outside of their restaurant; the gentlemen who welcomed us in told us that we could choose our table; if you want a lovely beach view or sunset sky I'd recommend outside seating! The only con with their outdoor seating is the extremely dim lighting (hence the 4 star), once the sun sets it's very dark. Upon choosing our outdoor seats their server greeted us and took our order promptly. As for their food, we ordered the shrimp empanadas which were a fried quesadilla with cheese, veggies, and shrimp inside; the shrimp tostadas, came with avocado and a lot of shrimp; a shrimp volcano in half a pineapple; and the order of sautéd shrimp with garlic and butter. We loved every single one of our plates! For our drinks, each of us had a glass bottles coca-cola. Our grand total came to be $930 pesos, that was about $51 US dollars. Affordable for the location, sunset view, and delicious food!

    Volcán La Tía Delicious!!!

Rustic fishing village with more locals than tourists but felt welcome, safe and very happy we made the effort to check this place out amongst all the activity going on in the area. Next time we will arrive around noon to see all the fisherman returning with the catch of the day. The food is the main event here...can't wait to return!!! So many things we still would like to try!

2nd trip to Popotla...last time was Valentine's 2016...the place was packed. Packed with locals...not tourists...I wanted to try this place but there was at least 60 people in line...so we went to another place this time..veterans day weekend...no line!! woo hoo! we had a group of 14 people (4 families) and were seated on the ocean front patio immediately. they were gracious enough to split our bill 4 ways (and they got it all correct!).. We were give chips, salsa and ceviche as a our complementary starter!! it was delicious (and quite honestly more than enough food for me!) soon after drinks arrived...and not long after our entree's... service was stellar! food was probably some of the best sea food i have ever had! OMG..this is absolutely my spot...and i can't wait to return. Don't expect anything fancy...i'm happy they had running water in the restrooms. the staff works really hard to accommodate us non Spanish speakers...they are patient with us...you do the same for them. After diner make sure to take a walk down to the water ...perfect evening!

Good quantity for low price, but lacks a little bit of taste in the food. Had the shrimp empanadas, wish they were more crunchy. The jaiba was okay, tasted like they dipped it on battered egg, wasn't so much of a fan

Good food, just small portions. Still a good spot to eat. Next to the ocean and if you get a table outside you get a good view as well.

My boyfriend is a big fan of the late Anthony Bourdain so he was ecstatic. We bought our crab and lobsters from the fisherman and brought it here for the ladies to cook. The place is super ghetto fabulous like others have said, nothing fancy about the plastic chairs and the pig hanging out by your feet while you eat. However, one of the best seafood meals I've had in my life. Will definitely be back soon!

Besides being in the news for drugs and human smuggling, Popotla is known for their fresh, daily caught seafood. Mariscos La Guerita is a restaurant here. Made from leftover lumber and the blue vinyl tarp, this ghetto- fabulous eatery was visited by Anthony Bourdain. To find this place, just look for a banner that says "Antoni Bourdan visits Rosarito Popotla". It's a bit intimidating if you do not speak Spanish. First, purchase your seafood from the countless vendors on the beach. (Fish range from 20-50 pesos per kilo) Once you purchase the fish, take it to the fish cleaning station. They will clean your fish for a tip. ($1 a fish) Take the cleaned fish to La Guerita and they will cook it up to your liking for about 30 pesos a fish. They will provide you with rice, beans, tortillas and an assortment of hot sauces. While you wait, make sure to check out the other stalls for their Cóctel de Mariscos or have a few beers. There must be crack sauce in the oil. Pescado Frito and the fish tacos are among the best I've had. (My wife has tried many times to duplicate the flavor but never can.) Spider crab and the sea urchin not so much. In the winter months, look for the brown box crab. It is better than the Alaskan variety. If you are in Rosarito, Mariscos La Guerita and Popotla is a great alternative to Puerto Nuevo. (Lobster Village) Just make sure you don't need to go to the banos. (bathroom) If you do, it's 5 pesos and a tetanus shot.

My boyfriend and I wanted a nice dinner, and I looked up on Yelp and found this place! (YAS MEXICO YELP- COME THRU!) as soon as we got there, we were instantly greeted with a warm welcome. Our servers, were absolutely amazing. They knew some English, although my boyfriend is fluent, I appreciate they tried hard for me! lol :) Food: 5/5 My boyfriends and I ordered drinks, which included a mango margarita, a whiskey, and a lemonade. The drinks were seriously phenomenal! Perfect amount of sweet and alcohol! Then we ordered the food. They're a steak house, so I had to go with the steak tacos. It was amazing! The steak was so tender and seasoned to perfection. However, Our table side chili was the star of the show. My boyfriend even ordered 2 rounds, and we ate it the next day! I should've bought that stuff by the pint lol All around experience/pricing: 5/5 Zero cons, my experience here was nothing short of amazing, and we cannot wait to come back for more! The cost was also reasonable for what we received. $1,125 pesos, and $59 USD. Some may think it's a bit high for Mexico, but in LA it would've easily cost 100.
