FAST Food: we started with an appetizer Aguachiles with a salsa verde, while not the hottest sauce they serve it with, we were warned it is picante, and it was, but so refreshing! A bottle of the tinto mezclado. Our entrees were Saffron Rice with seafood, super tasty. I even ate the pulpo! We also had the Bistec which was cooked amazingly! It came with a cheese enchilada, beans, Guac and pico de gallo. We ended with their Elote pastry with a scoop of vanilla, an espresso and cappuccino. Everything was just amazing. Atmosphere: this place seems like it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's just 10 miles from Ensenada and set in beautiful wine country. There is an amazing patio, views for miles. A full moon was rising over the mountains which was stunning. Inside is super modern, big fireplace in the middle. We were there early afternoon so there were just a few people there. I'm sure this place is packed at night! Service: our waiter Humberto was awesome. We were his only customers at the moment so he took really great care of us, explained some his favorite items on the menu. This is my second time coming to King & Queen in Valle de Guadalupe. The vibe was cool, the music was good and the service was very attentive. Having come on a busy holiday weekend previously, it was nice to have the restaurant basically to ourselves I ordered the blue cheese salad, while one of my friends ordered the seafood rice and the other ordered the chicken tinga Taquitos. The blue cheese salad was really good. I enjoyed the bites that had the blue cheese and nuts because it was simultaneously sweet and savory. The hot cheeto fries needed something else, the hot cheeto was not the star of the dish and was overpowered by the sauce. The vegetarian tacos were meh, the tortilla was soggy and the salsa bland. I first had King & Queen in Little Italy in San Diego and loved their vegetarian menu so when I was visiting the Valle I had to try it here too! We made reservations that same day on their website and when we arrived we were quickly greeted and seated. They have an outdoor patio and are pet friendly :). There was upbeat music playing but it wasn't too loud where we could still have conversations. We had a 7 yr old dining with us and it wasn't too party-like around dinner time which was nice. We ordered the hippie tacos, tacos de la sierra, and the hot cheeto cheese fries. The hot cheeto fries were so good! Not overly spicy or too heavy. The tacos de la sierra were crispy and flavorful. Their chipotle sauce paired well with the grilled tacos. I enjoyed the hippie tacos a little more than the tacos de la sierra because of the sweet potato tortillas and the avocado puree. So much flavor in one bite! I also had their sangria and I really enjoyed it! It was super refreshing. Weird issue when we arrived -- we had reservations at 7pm but were told at the gate that we could not drive in due to it being "over crowded." They had people pull over along the long drive way & park until they said it was okay to drive in. However, some cars were allowed to go in lol? Seemed like they picked & choosed who could go in. Anyway, after 40 minutes of waiting, I was about to pee my pants so we drove into the parking lot anyway. We get to the stairs to walk up to the restaurant & realize that they were still seating parties, didn't even bother to ask if we had a reservation or not. Despite the weird hiccup, after getting seated, we had an amazing time. Our server was so sweet & attentive. She bussed every single plate & piece of trash. Food was amazing. Tomahawk steak did take extremely long -- the rest of us finished our food by the time the steak came out but it was so bomb & mouthwatering. We weren't in a rush so we thought it was worth the wait. We started the evening with some oysters and margaritas. I had their signature avocado margarita, it is one of the best refreshing drinks that I ever had, not heavy or strong, and full of flavor. We came here on a Saturday night with a large group. We attempted to sit upstairs but they were completely full up there. Instead, they situated us on the main floor. While that was great and all we were trying to go up stairs the entire time we were there, we kept asking but they said it there wasn't enough room for our group. When I went to check out the upstairs myself I found out that we could have bought bottle service to sit up there. Considering the amount of money I already had spent downstairs this would have been no issue. Anyways, drinks could have been better. I got the cantarito and there was more juice than alcohol. I proceeded to just order shots afterwards. I also ordered a El peligro which was a better drink choice. A lot of the drinks come with sparklers when they arrive to your table. The drinks come out quick. The venue itself is lively with good music. The staff could have done a better job at communicating with our group. King & Queen Cantina is one of the top favorites of mine in Little Italy, SD location so thought it would be a great idea to check this one out in Valle de Guadalupe. As a family, we enjoy visiting the many vineyards in Valle and this place was amazing! Parking was not remotely an issue at ALL. We visited on a weekend and was light with visits yet the inside of the restaurant was full. We made a reservation and we'd recommend going about that way, if the option is available. It is a dog friendly location, as furry babies are welcomed outside in their patio. Coming to the entrance is a set of stairs, to which there are some fun and unique photo ops! Their patios have heaters readily available. The views are spectacular. To start off beverage-speaking, I was very tempted to have their infamous margarita flight, but figured for the sake of being in Valle, I would pay its respectful tribute and order some wine. Staff was polite to offer their recommendation of their red blend from their selection of wine options available. It was delicious. As for food, WOW! We had a variety of dishes and all were scrumptious. My favorite was the PULPO--guilt-free, light and healthy. It was cooked perfectly where it was tender on the inside but a tiny fraction of solid on the outside. Seasonings paired perfectly with the choice of dressing and salad vegetables it sat on. We also had the arrachera, which was served on top of grilled nopal (mexican classic staple touch) with a cheese enchilada, paired with beans, tortillas, and guacamole with tomato bits and queso fresco tots. Their bacon-wrapped shrimp were also fantastic! We asked for the sauce to be served on the side, just in case. Well, we quite ended up dipping the shrimp in the sauce due to how deliciously it paired and tasted altogether. I definitely recommend you order as is, no modifications needed! Also, their chipotle shrimp pasta, AMAZING. Except, if you can't handle spicy levels, mention it to your server and see if there can be modifications, granted we all can handle our spice differently, but just to be mindful just in case. After your meal, you can outside towards bathrooms and catch the sunset in the hills, spectacular views! You must not forget to visit their "Aires de Lavanda" area where you can walk, sit and sip on some wine indulging in lavender field fragrances. It was such a relaxing and unique experience! Ordered gardez which has pieces of mango. margarita and it came in a tiny glass. We asked normally it comes in a large goblet for $13.50. There aren't many vegan options in Mexico so when I saw a "Wanna be vegan" on the menu I was really excited. Unfortunately not everything is vegan in that section which is quite misleading. I know that this is a chain in the states, but I was really hoping that this would be authentic Mexican food since it's in the Valle. Granted I got a vegan taco haha with the cheese removed but I was underwhelmed. I was also there with a couple girlfriends who are not vegan, and they just commented that the food was okay. They got the steak tacos and the surf and turf. However! the pleasant surprise here is that their drinks are amazing. I highly recommend the margarita flight!
