This salon is quite a gem! I have been here three times so far and each time I walk out a satisfied customer. Ashley dyed and cut my hair the last time and she did a beautiful job. I referred the salon to my roommate and my sister who both ended up getting their hair cut/dyed at Eskandalo. They both were happy customers. I always go into any salon with an idea of what I want and ask for the stylists thoughts. The stylists here are really helpful in choosing the right color for you. I haven't had any issues with "defensive" stylists. haha It's great that you don't have to stick with one stylist as there is none of that snooty attitude you might find at other salons. But of course, you can request a stylist! You just call and set up an appointment or you can even walk in. The prices are very reasonable. In the past I've spent over $200 on my haircut and color. For my hair cut and dye/highlights here I spent a little over $100. That's a lot of savings. The salon has a really funky vibe and there's always music playing. Great relaxed vibe. Definitely check out Eskandalo if you are in the area and need a cut or dye! Just a tip: if you are doing street parking, the meter maids now check until 9 PM so be careful. read more

Went in a twice, had a great experience both times. First was keeping a friend company as she got her hair cut. Harley was so much fun, kept all of us entertained. They did such a good job with her hair I decided to go in for a trim. Had Harley also and he did an amazing job. My hair is crazy curly and he did a great dry cut without me even having to ask. Told him how I normally wear it: a reverse mullet, parted in the side and it looked great. Wish I didn't live so far away do I can get my hair cut there all the time. Go for the hair cut, stay for the eye candy. Part of the reason I wanted Harley to cut my hair when I went in the 2nd time; he is a good looking man and very knowledgeable about zombies. read more

I've had my hair cut here about 3 times here already and it's always a good experience. The salon is unique (in a good way) and doesn't have the blasting techno and snooty stylists (did I use the right word?). The girls here are friendly and easy to talk to. I've been to many salons in the past and have never found a haircut that I truly liked....until I started coming here. I was new to PA and the first time I went in, I had Erin. She was wonderful. My haircut was cut perfect, exactly the way I told her. The second time, I got my hair done by a different person. Needless to say, I cried when I got home. My hair grows super quick and so I went back a month later and requested the first person. Of course my hair turned out great. I will always go to only her now. My boyfriend goes there regularly now and requests Harley. Very cool salon just be careful who you pick. read more

I have not ever had a real need to go to a stylist other than the occasional re-layering. But recently I decided out of nowhere I wanted to dye all my beautiful black hair to a golden brown. I was concerned about my Asian hair, how it's never been dyed, how all my haircuts never go well. So I researched awhile and finally decided on Eskandalo. It was the PERFECT choice. Super friendly staff, with a loyal clientele. There were a lot of returning customers I noticed during my first visit, which means the salon cares about their customers and stay consistent with their work. My stylist was Kelly. There was a slight misunderstanding as to what my appointment was for but she was flexible and rolled with the change. She took care of my concerns and gave me options on styles and listened to what I had to say. 2 hours later And my hair turned out BEAUTIFUL. I was so relieved! It was even better than expected! My hair is long and thick and I was watching how she applied the color and I noticed how attentive she was. I highly recommend this salon and using Phee as your stylist! She is AMAZING! I left American Hairlines a while back and have yet to find a stylist that I love. I originally went to another salon a few days earlier, showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted (ombre) & when we were finished, my hair looked nothing like the picture. I was completely disappointed, but decided to try and find another salon since it was clear she could not reproduce what I was looking for. I came to Eskandalo & they set me up with Phee. I've been searching for a regular salon for about 10 years, and have lived in the Lehigh Valley for about 3 years. I've tried a few people here and there but have never been satisfied with my cuts. I have thin, curly hair that I wear both straight and curly and typically keep long. I always ask for layers and end up leaving the salon with a mediocre cut that is nothing like what I asked for and totally boring. I sat down with MaryBeth and gave her a quick explanation of my past woes, along with a picture to give her an idea of what I was looking for. 15 minutes later...I'm leaving with one of the best hair cuts I've ever had. I will be going back and think I may have finally found 'my' salon. What a good feeling! UPDATE Alison the owner, after reading about my experience let messaged me to ask me how she could make it up to me. That says a lot to me when the owner cares that much about the customer experience. I'm looking forward to giving them a second chance soon. Seems like a great place, but a snooty stylist ruined my first time there. I went on first friday where they had free champagne, vegan desserts, and a generally great attitude. I waited a pretty long time, there's not many cutting chairs and usually a long line. Still, fun atmosphere and the counter person was very fun and chatty. The stylist I got was a young guy, I described a pretty normal cut with a couple exceptions (higher on back, thinned on top). The guy acted like I was an idiot for explaining, as if he was going to guess what I wanted from the shape of my head. After all that, he didn't do what I asked for. I'd like to try it again, but I'll definitely be checking through the window to make sure that guy isn't working. read more

The BEST place I've ever gotten my hair cut. They had great advice on how to manage my (sometimes unruly) hair, and I've always come out of Eskandalo ecstatic with the way my hair looked. It's also an ultra-chill place, where you can get some water or tea while you wait for your favorite stylist. I highly recommend Harley or Bee (though I'm not sure if Bee is still there). For a number of years, I was in the habit of giving myself haircuts instead of going to barber shops or salons. After a long line of mediocre results, I was ready to go out and get an actual haircut, but was quite nervous and didn't really know where to go. Lo and behold, several months ago a friend went here and got a fantastic haircut. At that moment, I knew that I had to try it out. Let me tell you, it was a wise choice. Once I sat down, they asked me what I wanted, and listened intently to every little detail. Once they had a good idea of what I wanted, they went to it swiftly and deftly. Given the speed of their work, one would think that they would make a mistake, but quite the contrary. Both times that I have gone I ended up getting exactly what I wanted, and only for $10, which is better than some places I've heard of. Even if they ended up raising their prices, I would still go here, because it is that damn good. read more

I knew things were going to be bad when they asked me or whether or not I wanted my hair washed. Is that not a given if you are paying for a haircut? I didn't want to seem rude, so they doused my hair with a spray bottle. My cut came out choppy and has been horrible to style. I am self proclaimed "penny-pincher" so I was just delighted about the reasonable prices! The owner, Alison, is a huge supporter of local business, cross-marketing with other Downtown Bethlehem businesses and keeping her customer base abreast of the current goings-on through her incredible website and frequent social networking posts. You also get a great feel for the Eskandalo staff by surfing through the website, a staff, I would like to add, has remained intact since my first appointment in July 2008. That fact alone speaks volumes of the integrity of this company. Now, for the haircuts! I have had my hair cut by numerous stylists at Eskandalo (Alison, MaryBeth, Erika). There is no doubt they are all well trained, up to date on the current styles (they are probably creating the current styles!), cutting edge professionals. The stylists will assist you in picking a cut that is flattering to you, use & sell top quality stying products and educate you on hair care and styling your new do at home. Each and every time I get my hair cut, I think, "How could my hair ever look any better?" I compare the cut/style experience at Eskandalo with a Hollywood stylist coiffing up a movie star for the red carpet!! That is how I feel when I walk out the door, and all for an extremely reasonable price! Being new to the area and not having had a haircut in over a year..I relied on good ol' yelp to find me a salon! Glad I did too because this place turned out to be exactly as reviewed. The young man who answered the phone was very sweet and offered me hot tea or water right when I came in..which was great after a walk in the cold. I'm very spontaneous so I called looking for an appointment that day and they were able to squeeze me in with a young girl named Bree. According to their website she's one of their newbies..not a "master" cutter..so you never know if you're going to get a great cut or a hack job. But she was wonderful! Fun, sweet and listened to EXACTLY what I wanted..she didn't just half hear me and then went to town chopping away. I wanted long layers, soft bangs, and all the dead ends cleaned up...exactly what she gave me. I'm glad they don't charge a fortune so I was able to leave her a nice tip... Great experience! All I wanted was my hair trimmed and it was very easy to just walk in and almost immediately get seated with a stylist. The receptionist and stylists were all very nice and my trim was fairly priced. Though, there was this woman, who I was told was the owner, that was talking shit on people within earshot most of the time I was in the chair. Sooooo, I gave this place another try. A friend of mine introduced me to Jeffery (they're good friends & her hair is always perfect) & about a year & a half ago I let him cut my hair. Ok, Jeffery is seriously the BEST STYLIST I HAVE EVER HAD. He is truly a master. He is amazing & I can't say enough good things about him. He actually listens to you and gives your hair a lil play before he washes to see how it lays and cuts with your hair's natural growth patterns. My hair is picture perfect every single time & continues to look amazing for weeks. He is a golden god of hair. He's also a beast with color! I've since stopped coloring but when he was still doing my color, that was perfect, as well. I'd give him 15 stars, if I could! read more

Went there to get my hair dyed by HARLEY, talentless hipster jerk that can't do hair. and asked for the color that I had before and the new color came out looking awful! Then when I told him it was two different colors he told me he noticed it before I left but I guess had better things to do than fix it. When I went back in and demanded he fix the color, he put it in, rinsed it it, and asked if it was ok if I left with wet hair. Made him dry my hair then charged me $20 for product which he pocketed as a tip. Manic Panic hair product (what they use which is why it fades) cost 9 bucks at hot topic. Inexperienced stylists, don't go here. Both times I went here all he did was complain about how he had to stay late and pretty much did whatever he wanted to my hair despite of me telling him different. Visiting from out of town, I decided to have my grays covered and made an appointment with Melissa. Every salon's promo says they listen and do exactly what you want. It's not always true, but this time it was definitely so. Melissa asked me what I wanted, I told her (even though other stylists have said "that's not what you really want" !) and she did it, simple as that. I look and feel younger, and at a very reasonable price. Eskandalo is not the usual fancy, high-end looking hair place. The decor is funky, lots of pictures to look at while you're processing. It's a busy shop, kind of small and a bit noisy, with big old barber chairs that I haven't sat in since I was in grade school, and folks are almost on top of each other. Since they do walk-ins, your appointment might not start precisely on time, but who wants to go somewhere that isn't busy? The bottom line is I was quite impressed and very pleased with the results. I have a regular salon back home that I go to; don't tell them about me "cheating" on them! I recommend Melissa and Eskandalo highly. read more

As soon as I walk throught the door i see Harley. Hes done my hair before and inssissted that no one else could deal with how much hair i have (even though the girls dont seem to mind) I told Harley that I just wanted the same color i had before which was ultraviolet in manic panic $8 retail. H had whatever color was in for like two hours. then as he was drying it i noticed patches of pink and orange on my hair. When I asked him about it he said "oh yeah they should wash off right away" I left but as soon as I woke up the next morning i have a text from HARLEY saying he would fix that one small peice of hair that was blotchy. He put the color in as soon as i arrived and then told me he knew the color was "fucked up" and he just wanted to make it home on time. When the dye was removed from my head Harley asked me if it would be appropriate for me to go home in the freezing cold and dry my hair myself. I said no so he gave me a mean look, took a receipt, and wrote $25 on it. Trying to charge me for an 8 dollar hair product.... Fuck that. Its one big hipster hair salon. Its not hard people!
