My vehicle needed a new headlamp so we decided to give EAT a try. We were very impressed with the service provided to us by Frank. We also were able to observe how customers were treated when they came to pick up their vehicles after service or repair. Previous years I went to California Smog Test & Registration Service on North Rose. I decided to look elsewhere for smog check do to price. I am very happy I found Escondido Auto. Escondido Auto Tech is THE BEST! I took my car in because the check engine light was on. As it turned out the issue it was having was probably still under the manufacture warranty. I didn't even think about that but Escondido Auto Tech did! They even called the dealership to confirm the warranty on that particular part. So even though they were losing business, they wanted to do the right thing for us! I will be taking my car to them for all oil changes etc in the future. You can't go wrong with them. This business is what all auto repair shops should be. When you take your car in for an oil change, they also do a once over on your whole car & give you options for service. The last time I took my car in for an oil change, they fixed a battery terminal, (no charge) & let me know that even tho there was a tiny oil leak, the leak was not at a critical location & they would be the tiny fix for free next time I brought my car in for anything. I wanted them to replace the passenger side CV Axel that the Lexus dealer told me need to have the CV inner boot replaced as it had a tear and was throwing grease. Took it to EAT and set up an appointment to do the work for half what the Dealer quoted. Received a call that there was nothing wrong (no tear) with my CV boot and no reason to do the work. I returned and picked up my car, no charge. This is after they had already had the parts ordered in. This was my first visit to EAT, we had no relationship, they could have performed the work and made their money. Not often one finds people in the auto repair business with this much honesty and integrity. My car was having issues starting up, wasn't smelling to hot and it was making some not-so-normal noises, so when I took it to EAT for a diagnosis I feared the worst and I prepared my wallet for a little downsizing. When I got the call from Jim that it was just a very minor repair and it would only set me back $60, needless to say I was a little elated! Not only did they fix the issue, but they were honest and affordable which are two traits not normally associated with Mechanics. The other day my 2007 Ford fusion started acting very strange. It wasn't responding to the gas pedal and sifting in and out of various gears. Even the speedometer shut down at at times. With 130,000 miles on the car I suspected the transmission was on its way out. I called George at Escondido Auto Tech and described the situation. He suggested I bring it in to verify my evaluation, in case there was another explanation. Thank goodness I did as their research found a bad output speed sensor was the source of the problems. After reading so many excellent reviews here on Yelp we decided to try Escondido Auto Tech for our routine oil change and some major brake work we were expecting to do. I cannot tell you how incredibly impressed I was every step of the way, from the first phone call with Jorge to the day of service with Frank. They took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly and with expertise, about this visit and planning for future needs. Turns out that we did not need all of the brake work that the dealership had suggested we complete at this time. And the work that was performed was approximately half of what the dealership charges would have been. Turns out that the "complimentary" loaner vehicle provided by the dealership was never actually free at all... We are so happy with the quality of work done here on all levels, we feel confident recommending Escondido Auto Tech with 110% confidence. They are as honest and hard working as they come! EAT worked on my 2003 Toyota 4Runner and they did a great job. The bearings in the rear differential had to be replaced, plus brakes and shocks all the way around. They initially installed Monroe shocks and even though the ride improved greatly, I didn't feel fully satisfied. I called them and they had me bring it in to get the Monroes replaced by Rancho RS9000 shocks with the quicklift set up on the front. I drove it yesterday and instantly felt a much better ride. I drove all day today and ride feels like a brand new SUV, plus it leveled the front with the coilover strut set up. If you can afford to get the Rancho RS9000 set up on your SUV or truck, do it you cannot go wrong with them at all. There is no other shop I would recommend, not just in Escondido, in all of San Diego. They are great mechanics, great people, and will make sure your vehicle runs like new. Amazing experience. Let's just say I am not so savvy when it comes to explaining car "noises". I called Frank who intently listened to my ridiculous monologue, only to find out his earliest appointment was 6 days away. No worries, he had a recommendation for another shop he trusted for transmission work. I took the appointment anyway. He asked if I could drive by so we could take a ride and listen to the problem. He could get an idea and order parts for the following week. One test drive later and an inspection later, we have an answer. Thinking I am bringing my car back next week, how surprised am I when he asks if I can leave it today? Sure I can! Frank says it will be ready the following day. Too late in the day to get the parts. He gives me 2 options, differently priced and explains the benefits of each. I make my choice and am on my way. Awesome! My car is going to be done tomorrow. I was thinking next week! Color me more surprised when 3 hours later, frank calls and says my car is ready! BUT they close in 10 minutes and I am 20 minutes away. So what does Frank say to make my day even better, "I will wait for you. Just come down. The shop will be closed but I will be in the office. " But wait it gets better...I arrive to a closed shop, Frank is patiently waiting, proceeds to run my card to pay for the work, and the bill is $60 LESS than he quoted me!!!! He found the parts in town to save the overnight shipping charge. Could this guy be any more epic, no I don't think so. I followed my gut thinking anyone that would refer me somewhere else because he didn't have the time for my car that day, would be the guy I needed to be patient for and wait for to fix what I didn't know was broken. Turns out I was right. Excellent work, car is fixed, of course. Frank was honest, fair, extremely patient, and unbelievably friendly. Every car we own will be in Frank's care going forward, I can't recommend him highly enough. read more
