I'm writing this as a…read morefollow-up review because my friends and I tried the Detective Academy, the newest room at Twisted Escapes. We really liked it! The room is straightforward but challenging and fits the theme perfectly. All the puzzles flowed well, keeping our group of seven stumped at times until the very end. Twisted Escapes is great with turnaround times and opening a new room while keeping the current ones running for at least a year or two. That's impressive, considering it takes weeks to plan the theme, puzzles, and design the room. They seem to have a good balance of keeping the rooms fresh while welcoming new players to try out new experiences at least once a year. The owners, Frank and Katie, are wonderful. They know us because we've done almost all the escape rooms they offer and took the time afterward to ask how we liked the room and what we thought could be improved in the next ones. If you're into escape rooms, I highly recommend checking out these rooms at Twisted Escapes. Whether you're a puzzle whiz or not, you'll have a blast trying to solve one and escape!

The game masters were a little bit too picky about not solving locks by trial and error even if you have, say, 3 of 4 numbers and you that last 10 numbers on the missing number. Sure you could have the wrong position for any of the other three as they said but you could also have the positions correct. I have done this at a few other escape rooms if we couldn't find the clues for all numbers and especially if there was a time crunch. We got second place for Mayan Temple for the quarter and totally unexpected.

Booking online was super easy and we arrived to get a quick safety update and information and off to our room - The Pirate's Chamber. We had a really good time and were able to escape with about 10 minutes left. The decor and puzzles were challenging enough to keep myself and 2 kids busy, but also still able to make progress. We had so much fun that we ended up booking another room - The Mayan Temple for later (after dinner). That room was a little bigger and a lot of fun. I think both rooms offered a great mix of puzzles and allowed for group and individual work. Perfect mix. As a tip be sure to count the ducks in the lobby in case you need an extra clue (not that you can't get one without a little fun)!!

Vampires is probably very highly rated for escape rooms in the country and was certainly one of my favorite experiences personally. Game master and staff have escape room running down to a science. This company has been here for 7 years and they plan to change Bikers theme soon. The entrance is a bit tricky to find as the website said to go down a set of steps on the side. While this is still true, you need to go down a different flight of stairs w a blue awning instead.
