a miniature golf course at night
    Kurt P.

When I found out that Rolling Hills was doing nighttime glow golf I got excited. I always enjoy mini golf and there just is something about a nice fall night and mini golf that goes together. Before I get into the glow golf, Rolling hills is an 18 hole mini golf course, batting cages, and ice cream place. So they touch on a bunch of stuff. The staff members were really nice and the one guy was all about the glow golf. As for the glow golf they give you a golf ball with a little glow stick inside and all the holes have LED lights along the walls. It was really fun and looked cool at night as well. The spiners on every other hole also added to the fun. My only complaint is they could use more LEDs on some of the holes, some were only 3/4 lit up. This is not a complaint but just for everyone's knowledge because of the glow stick the balls can roll a little wonky sometimes. Overall if you are looking for something to do outdoors at night while we still have this nice weather, you can't go wrong with the glow golf.

While playing on the mini golf course here in season I'm sure is nice, and while the pizza place…read morealways smells great from the parking lot, the real grade A treat here is the insanity of a year-round driving range. You want to come out in December or January on a nice robustly brisk 28 degree night with a decent breeze and hit until your hands hurt or they freeze to the club? Damn right you can!! luckystrokes.com/hours The above link covers the current hours in the offseason, well sort of because that link shows the driving range lights as being on until 9 but there is a note taped to the self-serve ball dispenser that current lights off is actually 8 and based on my own personal experience last week, it's more like 7:55. The below link has the current pricing information. luckystrokes.com/home-page Also note, if you come there is a list of range rules. One of them is that you are supposed to aim at the targets they have in the field. Admittedly, there aren't too many dudes showing up in winter to hit but fwiw, I have yet to see one (self-included) go along with that. Everyone is just cranking and wherever it goes, it goes. Overall, the pricing is fare, the carpets are in decent shape and I'm just grateful to have a place somewhat close that chooses to think outside the box a little to offer us hard core contrarian loons something very fun & different to do in winter.

Reading the signs it's did say they closed at 7:30 which is understandable. Proper professional customer service would have taken accountability apologized for not reflecting "closed" and moved on. The way it was handled was so distasteful and will never be back.

For my next trick, let's tackle the other side of Melody Lakes - Chip & Putt…read more As I mentioned in other drivel from seven years ago, ML is about as old school as old school gets. Part of that is good because anytime you're talking about something that is priced like it was years or even decades ago, that's rarely a bad thing. The problem with that can be....what's the catch? The catch with ML is simply the condition of the course. I can remember playing here as a kids decades ago and even back then, you knew there were issues. Brown patches on the greens, choppy uneven greens, they gave up on their #3 sand trap forever ago, the "fairway" on #5 turns into a swamp if it's rained anytime within the past week and my favorite....the green at #8. #8 has a problem that also affects some of the other holes and is caused by the local residents of Melody Lakes. Those residents would be the Canadian Geese that hang out on/near/by the course. To put it mildly, the greens & grass get coated in goose crap to the point where it's impossible to putt without hitting multiple "cigars". It would be a smoother putt if you lined up down 309....when it's getting repaved. I guess this gives the course "character" and "adds to the experience"? Here's what works. The pricing. It's still $5 for 9 holes and then $2.50 if you go around again. Holes range from 43 to 95 yards. But, some of the carpets are also interesting as they are uneven to say the least and two of them have tees (not sure why you would use a tee at a chip and putt course) that are so tall that maybe they're usable for Joel Embiid but the rest of us would need to be doing a modified lumberjack chop. There are only so many chip and putt courses in the area and conditions aside, this one is a classic. Low prices, during the week it's never busy and it's about as much fun as you can have for an hour for $5, legally. melodylakesgolfcourse.wordpress.com www.mscorecard.com/mscorecard/showcourse.php?cid=14152105907141045

It was like $14 for 150 balls, which lasted our family of four a good hour or so of consistent hitting. You can also rent clubs for $1 per club, which is super handy. I was really surprised when I called ahead and found out they are dog friendly! They even have frosty paws Icecream for pups. There are hooks for leashes on the covered bays, but I feel like our dog would end up getting clubbed if we hooked him there so we looped his leash under the bench instead. Shortly after this pic, I asked if we could move the bench in the shade for him and they said that was totally fine! Seriously so impressed with the customer service and kindness of the young lady working there. After our time at the range, the kids headed over for a quick game of mini golf. I felt the price was spot on at $6/kid. The course wasn't anything super special but it was very well maintained and had some ramps and a water feature running throughout. Top tip - def wait til after 6 or so in the summer, so the sun isn't so brutal. They are open til 9! Def recommend for a little inexpensive fun!
