Im not a big fan of Thai food, I rarely get it- I prefer Chinese and Korean food in general so I could be bias but: - the thai tea was so sweet, there was barely any flavor besides the sugar and I was expecting a lot for the price. - I absolutely love tom kha, a coconut lime soup, but after ordering a small for 8 dollars (for a somewhat decent size) I was disappointed when it tasted watered down, flavorless and the vegetables were undercooked incredibly(mushrooms and tomatoes). there were large chunks of tomato in the soup, practically 3 fourths of whole tomato. The lady mentioned spice level couldn't be adjusted since it "comes like that" - we spotted bugs, maybe cockroaches, crawling on the window inside the kitchen. read more

I placed a to go order and they didn't seem that busy, but it took about 20 mins. You cannot dine in there, take out only. Staff is friendly. Very quiet inside. I got the egg rolls and they were long and delicious! A lot larger portions than I thought. We also had drunken noodle and the noodles seem a bit overcooked for me but still del ious overall. read more

Esann has always been good every time. But I have to say the Pho chicken soup was exceptional. Haven't ordered that before from here, always ordered from a Vietnamese restaurant, but Esann will continue to get my orders for this soup. I got as a takeout and they didn't skimp on the soup extras, plenty of basil, sprouts, and cilantro to go in the soup, plus they gave you chili sauce and hoisin sauce to add. Very good food and friendly service. Chicken Pad Thai and Broccoli with Chicken were delicious. We ordered with Medium spice and it was just right. Eggrolls are made onsite and fresh. You can tell by the taste and smell they are good at changing oil in fryers. While they do not have waitress service you can still order then sit at a table. We decided to eat in and our order was brought to us with paper plates in less than 10 minutes. HIghly recommend. read more

I don't know if this is authentic Thai or not but the vegetables in my drunken noodles were cooked to a great consistency, with a good amount of crunch left. Likewise the orange chicken. Exceeded my expectations. I ordered the shrimp garlic lunch. It came with veggies, rice, and an egg roll. For $13 it's hard to beat. The egg roll was kind of bland but it was hot and freshly made. The main course was hot and tasty. I asked for mild level of spiciness and it came that way. Good location and plenty of parking. Ok, so I'm not expert on Thai. However, this place was less than impressive. We ordered wonton soup - the wontons were MUSH. I got the chicken pad Thai - tough chicken and just not great flavors. My daughter got the Lan Nar - and she liked that. Overall would not go again. Portions were large, but that doesn't really matter if the food is not great. read more

Such a great local gem! I've gotten lunch here a few times because it's legit the best lunch deal around! I've had both Pad Thai and Pad Se Ew, both excellent! For the lunch combo, you get a HUGE portion and a long spring roll. All of it hot, crispy and fresh! It's definitely two meals worth. Such a deal! And it's tasty on top! Every time I've been here, staff is so lovely. I've never dined in, but I can imagine it's a good experience.... Speaking of. One day I need to dine in cause the decor is great. Under NEW management + a great group they are! We visited on a Saturday around 4pm. Not busy but there were a few call-in orders happening. Our hostess (owner) was very friendly! Great conversation giving us the background of them taking over just a few months ago. Family- owned. The food came out with presentation + flavor being a 5 out of 5! My curry was creamy + Spicy (as ordered) and very much filled with flavor! My friend's shrimp fried rice was also delicious. We had enough to take home, too! read more

My coworker and I stopped here for lunch last week. The woman at the front who took our order was distracted, not very friendly or smiley and had no sense of hospitality, serving us with about as much pride as a McDonalds worker. The food here is expensive for Thai (close to $17 for a pad Thai!) but the portions were large and the food did taste good. They do not allow dine in, but the inside is fairly quiet, just has some culturally appropriate music playing. read more

Wow.... I'm just sad it's taken me this long to have thai food From this restaurant. The quality of the food and the taste far exceeded my expectations. I have a pad Thai in the Penang curry and I would get both of them again in a heartbeat. I felt the ingredients were fresh and the flavors were good and it wasn't greasy. I would highly recommend Esann Thai to anyone who is looking for a good Thai restaurant in midlothian! So glad that I gave them a try and thanks to yelpers who encouraged me to go! I've tried numerous Thai restaurants around Richmond and this one takes the cake. The service is very quick in my experience. Now let's talk food. They have levels of spicy medium,mild,hot and Thai hot. Other restaurants I go to and ask for extra spicy, I feel the food go all the way down into my stomach and not in a good way even though I like spicy. Esann is just spicy, it doesn't leave you feeling ill after indulging. They do it right here people! Hats off to the owners that are the operators. Go there immediately. read more

I have wanted to try this place since early covid days. I finally stopped in with a friend today. The first thing to know is that it is take out only. Nice place all ready to go but the owner is doing take out only for now. Very nice lady who I assume is the owner took care of us and we waited at a table in the restaurant while the food was prepared. I got Shrimp Pad Thai and Chicken Drunken Noodles HOT, not Thai Hot. We thought both dishes were excellent. We got the lunch and we were surprised to find fresh salad and some good mustard dressing as well as a long spring roll that may have been tarot or sweet potato but good. The food came out quickly but we were probably the first customers of the day. A really nice sized portion of both but my friend could only eat a little of my hot drunken noodles, too spicy for her even a stop below Thai hot. This was a great drunken noodle. Fresh vegetables done perfectly and crunchy with a good amount of chicken and that spicy sauce and nice fat noodles. The little bit of Pad Thai I got to try was great too and the shrimp I had was juicy. Nice, fresh spring onions in the Pad Thai. I will certainly go back and I have a menu now. Small friendly family restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Would be great for a date or for a family dinner. The food is as incredibly spicy as you'd imagine- my "medium" Panang Curry was almost too spicy to get down but it was so fantastically delicious I just kept eating it. The rice was perfect. We went to E-Sann today for lunch. We ordered chicken pad Thai, chicken yellow curry and beef red curry. They each came with a salad and veggie spring roll. We got medium heat on each. They all had a good heat that will give you a little sweat. The taste was great! We each shared our dishes so got to try everything. The staff was extremely friendly. Take out tonight and it did not disappoint. The chicken pho was so good, their broth is delicious. Got the egg rolls, chicken pad Thai and chicken drunken noodles (both medium spice). It was all good! I am usually someone that likes things at the highest spice level. But, the pad Thai with medium spice was so good and the spice level was perfect, pretty spicy. This was my first visit and I placed a takeout order for lunch while I worked from home. My order: Drunken noodle w/tofu (hot): great heat level, I'm happy they give the noodles a good spicy kick! Very good flavor overall, I only wish there was more basil. But I will definitely order this again maybe with chicken! Fried tofu appetizer: pretty straightforward but I enjoyed the peanut dipping sauce so much more than a lot of places Egg/spring rolls: the perfect size and not too mushy (you know how some egg rolls can be like that) Overall an excellent meal and a pleasantly friendly atmosphere.
