VERY disappointing. 1.) They don't server breakfast. However, I'll take the hit on that one. I should've checked before we visited. 2.) Service was slow just getting our water and soda and the place was pretty empty. 3.) The appetizer was not appetizing AT ALL! After running plant errands one Sunday morning, we decided to stop at the farmers market in that same shopping center. We noticed Ernestos and have passed it by many a times and decided today was the day to try it out. It wasn't quite 11, so I assumed they'd have breakfast and we were wrong but we decided to stay regardless. Everyone was super friendly and kind and we were promptly seated. Our order of water and soda took quite a while even though there were no new customers since we got there. Although, we immediately had chips and salsa. Chips were okay, nothing special and salsa was plain and flavorless. We decided on the appetizer, we did get the half order, with the flautas, nachos, quesadilla, guac and sour cream. They forgot the sour cream and the guac tasted old. There was one very small flauta cut in half. It was burned and didn't look or taste fresh at all it crumbled when I picked it up. The nachos had a very thin layer of cold beans and an exaggerated amount of rubbery blobby yellow cheese. The tortilla chips themselves looked like they were fried in house which I got excited about for a moment, my mom use to do this at home for us. I was quickly let down by the taste of old frying oil. The quesadillas were flour tortillas, white cheese, and ground beef. I've never in my life had ground beef quesadillas in a Mexican Restaurant. There was way too much cheese and the ground beef was over seasoned and had a taste I couldn't quite put my finger on. Needless to say we had tasted enough and paid for what he had and called it a day. I most likely will not be back as I do believe if you can't get the apps right so early on in the day when you're not busy then I have little faith in you. read more

A great restaurant with some savory, delicious , and authentic Mexican food. We ordered the brisket tacos and the pulled pork tacos - both were fantastic and filling. They really stuffed the tacos and gave us ample toppings/sauce on the side. Service was wonderful and we had a great experience with Maya. She was prompt, professional, and friendly. Had great tableside manners and genuinely warm. We came on a Sunday afternoon and there was relatively low service. There were periods where the music stopped playing so the restaurant was very hushed and people started whispering so that was a bit odd. We won't be back. Second time in a row our service has been slow. With the beef fajitas they no longer cut the beef into strips, it comes in slabs and looked pale with no seasoning. I returned it and I was very hungry. The manager on duty explained his boss chose to make this change. That made me feel better as at least it was on purpose but still looked terrible and had no seasoning. read more

Went there on 3/14 at 8:15 pm and boy was it really noisy. We got sat at a back booth and promptly ignored for the next 15 minutes. No one showed up to get a drink or food order. After that 15 minute wait a large party was sat at a table near us that was just cleaned and the server immediately showed up to take their order. We promptly got up and left. So go if you aren't hungry and want to be ignored. read more

For the order, we had: 1) Fajitas for Two 2) Salsa and Chips 3) Chili Con Queso with Brisket 4) Frozen Margaritas The Food - 5 Stars: The fajitas were seasoned really well and had plenty of tortillas. The variety of salsa was great! Oh, and the margaritas were amazing! The Service - 3 Stars: Service was attentive (though nothing outstanding), especially compared to other reviewers. We had refills of drinks and chips promptly and food was delivered quick. The Price - 2 Stars: In general, a little on the high but you do get a lot of food for the price. For example, Fajita for Two was $32. The Vibes - 4 Stars: The restaurant is the quintessential Tex-Mex with spacious booths and wonderfully decorated. Overall, rounding up to 4 stars. Anyone visiting the local State Park down the street should stop in after a hike and get some grub. read more

Shocked at how packed this place was mid week given its location is a bit out there. They have a warm salsa (that I cant remember the name of) that they serve with the red one, go for the warm one. It's similar to Hacienda salsa and So so good. We did chicken fajitas and they were great. Not overcooked and seasoning spot on. Also they give you enough add ons if you do fajitas for two. Definitely a win on the food front. It was a bit bonkers inside. I don't know if it was just the small town crowd. A lot of kids running around and people really loud. They have a nice patio though if you enjoy eating your meal without someones kids yelling next table over. Service was a bit all over the place. We had 2 different servers and some other guy was the one actually refilling our drinks and assisting us with stuff more than the actual waitress. We were a party of ten. Service was good and attentive. Every one seemed to enjoy their lunch. I think I ordered the wrong thing. I chose the stuffed poblano. The chicken was heavily salted and there was an abundance of cheese. I think a little less sodium and cheese would have sufficed. read more

Delicious food, fast friendly service and ok pricing. I love the food, but a glass of iced tea will run you $3.17 That's the most I've ever paid for tea... the Chimichanga was folded round. Tacos Mi Pueblo. Didn't know that came with over an ounce of grease and oil. Utterly disgusting. If I had known they were going to be this sloppy with tacos. This place is AMAZING! It's a hidden little gem in Krugerville/Aubrey off Hwy 377. The place is bigger than it looks. Service is great! Margaritas are the bomb! Table-side guacamole is a MUST when we visit here! It's like magic! My wife eats the shrimp fajitas. She loves it. They DO have the tails on but that doesn't seem to sow her down! My all-time go-to F A V O R I T E dish to order is on the app list but the Canasta Tacos are Tex-Mex-azing! Yummmmm. We ate there twice - at the beginning and toward the end of August. One time the enchiladas had very little chili con carne atop them, but that was OK because it was not very tasty compared to previous visits. The second time, the nachos were limp. Located on the corner of 377 and 455 is a random shopping center across from a Ford dealership. In that random shopping center is Ernesto's Mexican Restaurant. My husband discovered them last year on his way back from camping and we stopped in shortly after to try them out. At the time, we arrived when they had just opened and they didn't get busy while we were there so we enjoyed a nice, quiet atmosphere in a lovely restaurant. Today, we arrived around 12:30pm and they were nearly at capacity. The restaurant décor is still as beautiful as ever but all 3 dining rooms were pretty full. The exception is that the patio was empty because it was cold out. Since our seat was near the window I could see the patio has tables that seat 4-6 people. The sides are lined with comfortable booths, one of which we were able to snag. On this particular day, the middle of the main dining area was lined with tables to accommodate a group of 20. Needless to say this second visit was much different. It was very loud and the servers could barely get around that table. However, service was on point! Our server was outstanding and attentive and oh, so very busy. The entire staff was attentive despite it being so chaotic. At one point I was straining to get a better look at the third dining room and someone magically appeared to see if I needed anything. I got the same thing on this visit, that I got on my last. The Steak Terrenal is a lot of food for $15.99 and I added a side of rice. I'm not sure if it's complimentary or if they forgot to charge me for it, but I didn't pay extra for it. I got this last year and was pretty sure it was more expensive last time. This time I certainly thought it was a good deal. The steak appeared to be at least 8 oz and was cooked correctly and seasoned well. The jumbo shrimp brochette were indeed jumbo and it was pretty awesome. The shrimp were clean and meaty but the bacon was the best thing on there. They got all 3 incredibly crispy, so yummy! The sautéed potatoes had great crispy edges and good, soft centers. The avocado salad was fresh and the rice was a huge portion and quite tasty. My husband got Lucy's Triple Plate for $11.99 off the appetizer menu and this portion was also really large. It had flautitas, nachos and chicken quesadillas. It was a ton of food and he really enjoyed it. We also ordered the large Chile con queso which was $5.99 and it was pretty good. The salsa has some heat to it as well but isn't overly spicy. Item to note is the chips aren't salted so they taste great with the salsa, queso or both but not really by themselves. The food came out in about 10 minutes which was impressive with how busy they were! As I mentioned, the service was stellar! We had more than half our food to go and when we asked for a container to take the remaining queso he brought us a bag, salsa and chips to go and a to go cup. Just fantastic attention to detail that will have us returning. If we can manage to return on a nice day, I would like to try their patio and maybe stray to some other items on their menu. We got some of the higher priced items on the menu, a lot of it was quite cheap, especially for the portion size. Great food and service, good prices and portions. What's not to like? Well....its usually been an o.k. place. Not a lot of choices in pilot point. But they changed their chips....or so I was told when I said they were stale. This things are pretty bad. Kind of a big deal when you are having tables ideas guacamole and chips for the entree. Actually, chips and salsa are always a big deal at a Mexican restaurant. The chips I've been getting here for years were always good. These were NOT. If they actually changed brands,,,big mistake. I don't know where to start we were going to another Mexican restaurant that is no longer open so even though the reviews were not good for this place we decided to go ahead and give it a shot BIG BIG BIG mistake. I don't know what was worse the food or the service so we'll just go with both equally horrible and the flies were just an added bonus to it all. The server George is probably one of the worse waiters in the state of Texas rude to who he doesn't know and willing to spend as much time as he needs to with customers he does know we ordered cheese enchiladas and chicken nachos two items that are pretty hard to F@@k up. but this place. They managed to. never mind both dishes were ice cold... One star is one to many. Ohhh and we sat in the bar. guess what, smoking is still allowed in this town and the two drunk women chain smoking really just pushed me over the edge.. worse service ever! we were out of chips and dip by the time our food arrived and asked for more but never got it. our drinks were empty for 20 minutes and never got refilled even once. we had to ask for our waitress to even get our ticket and a to go box. when we complained to the manager he just said sorry and offered to give us a to go drink since we had been waiting so long for a refill. we refused, paid our bill, and left and won't be back. we had another bad experience with service about 3 months ago and haven't been back until tonight. we were hoping the service had improved. we were WRONG! read more

Chips and salsa was about the only highlight of the meal. We can't really complain about service either it was ok. When it comes to the food, it was all just ok or not so great. I'd eat at Taco Bell about as frequently as this location. We have been to other Ernesto's locations that were much better. I think above all that made this experience terrible was the fact that they still allow smoking inside the restaurant. While they do limit it to the bar, the bar is not in any way separated from the rest of the place. Our visit was plagued by a chain smoking family 4 booths into the bar and while we were on the other side of the restaurant, it began to reek of cigarettes. Ruined our meal and made us want to get our children out as quickly as possible. If you don't want your kids to get immersed in second hand smoke I would stay as far away from this place as possible. read more
