He reapplied the treatment to ensure I was more satisfied with the results, and on top of that, he offered to give me a haircut at no additional cost. This guy is a FROSTED FLAKE. He gets deep into religious talk that completely deviates from what I consider basic human decency. He in evangelical in his tone. (Notice that his logo includes a cross). Shame, because he is really talented when it comes to color and cut. Long and short, in late 2021 he asked me to "interview" him for use on his you Tube channel (I'd only been to him 3/4 times by this point, so I thought this request was a bit of an inappropriate ask from a client). He tried to get me to do it on a Sunday. I kept putting him off hoping he'd take the hint. He didn't. We finally agreed to do it at my next scheduled appointment on a Saturday. He promised me I would be his last client of the day to be able to have my hair done while I was interviewing him. As we sat down I asked him if we could barter for services. He agreed to give me one or two of the less expensive services in exchange for my "interview services" (I usually pay between $250/$300 for highlights, color, cut and blow dry, incl. tip). We started the interview and some of the stuff coming out of his mouth was so troubling. About how we're all going to hell because we aren't living in accordance with the bible. Uhhhhhh...oooo-kay. . He had hinted at some of his viewpoints during our previous hair sessions, but I didn't realize how deep rooted and just...hateful it was. And just...preachy. Like, a woman has to be chaste and stuff like that. Anyway, halfway through, he tells me he had "mistakenly" put down a very elderly client later that day and this particular client couldn't be in the salon with anyone else and couldn't know I was there, so Eric asked me if I could effectively wait either out on the street or elsewhere in this building (which is mainly an apartment building). Like an idiot, I obliged. What is normally a 2.5 hour process for my hair turned into FOUR HOURS with him secreting me to the recreation room of this apartment building and bringing me back into the salon once the elderly client was gone. I was so aggravated by this time I balked when he tried to charge me for anything. By this time, we had done about an hour's worth of interviewing (I guess he thinks he's pretty interesting and people want to hear him espousing what I consider pretty hateful viewpoints about society and people in general). And given the wait for this elderly client to leave, I think I was well within my rights to not pay anything. I told him he shouldn't charge me anything given the four hours I had spent there with him hiding me from his other client. He reluctantly agreed, and I left. I started thinking about all the GARBAGE he spewed during that interview that I texted him and requested that if he posted the interview he NOT post my name and include a disclaimer that the viewpoints expressed in the interview were solely his (sinceI disagree with almost 99% of his viewpoints). After some back and forth, he agreed. He mentioned in this text string from March that he would want me to sign a release that he was going to send me. I never received it. Today, I show up for my appointment (about 4 months after the interview saga). I sit down in his chair and he tries to get me to sign this release he'd mentioned. I read this ridiculous release and elected not to sign it. He then tells me I would have to pay for the services from last time. So I just got up and left because that's not how this works. I made an ENORMOUS mistake by doing to the interview to begin with. I should have said no. He never should have asked. (No one cares what you think anyway, Eric). So there you go. I will say it again. This guy is one of the BEST colorists and hair stylists I have ever been to. But he's cuckoo for cocoa puffs, not a decent human being, and just a PITA. FFS, leave your hateful religious views to the side and just do my hair. read more

i recently had a great experience at Eric Perez Salon. 7 weeks ago I suffered a stroke and brain surgery. For my type of surgery the surgeon shaved my right side of my head and had a massive scar. I survived a very delicate medical emergency. Once i got discharged from the hospital I started searching for stylists for a pixie cut in Houston. i did a google search and came across Eric Perez Salon Instagram photos and videos. Eric just knows what he is doing and honestly he is the only person I trust to touch my hair. I had a hairdresser put black low lights in my white blond hair. they were wide stripes that started an inch and a half down from the roots. I have thin fine hair so very noticeable. Eric did corrective color and it looks fabulous. Corrective color is the most difficult because you have to deal with the mess you start with. Sometimes it takes several visits to protect the hair. So I initially came to Eric because of his product line. I saw that he uses a nice brand that is more natural and healthy for hair (all nutrient). However, his interpersonal skills were seriously lacking. He isn't very friendly and was often condescending toward me on multiple occasions. I came in asking if he could do a color service and he assured me he could get me to the color I wanted. I made it clear that I wanted orange hair like a ginger and for it to be one solid cohesive color (as I came in with ombré hair from another stylist. I will attach pictures.) He told me he could turn my ombré hair into an orange color and that it wouldn't be ombré anymore .. just orange, which is what I wanted. Well, he sits me down, washes my hair, and starts mixing the colors and painting them on. Once the color set and was washed out and blow dried it was still ombré... just now it was an orange ombré!!!! When I saw it I told him I wasn't happy and that I want it fixed asap ( he told me he could fix it if for some reason it doesn't turn out how I wanted it.) He responds with "oh I don't have time today". Wtf.. I had to go to work that week looking absolutely ridiculous and he showed no sympathy for my situation either. So then, I'm panicking and I schedule with him for the following week to correct it. Come time to the next appointment he tells me he can fix the dark splotches so that it all blends.. well he goes in and adds highlights to the darker spots and it DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. Once he was done It was still ombré and still wasn't properly corrected like he had said it would be. So now I'm two color processes in + highlights and I tell him I don't like it and that it's STILL not right!!!! So now I'm left with an absolute disaster on my head. I've got like three shades of orange on my head that have me looking like I walked out of a trailer park. AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE HE CHARGED ME 200$ AT THE FIRST APPOINTMENT AND THEN 350$ AT THE SECOND APPOINTMENT TO HAVE ME WALKING OUT LOOKING LIKE A CLOWN. ... So so so so upset with this guy and the way he conducts himself and his business! He seemed bothered and annoyed even by asking simple questions. I definitely cried for days after that. Super upset. I would absolutely not recommend him to anyone. He will take on a task that he's not sure he can execute properly and when he fails he will say "well I did my job" Ha ha. Wow. read more

I found Eric Perez 3.5 years ago because of all the amazing things I saw from Yelp and haven't gone to anyone since! It has truly been everything I could want from a haircut and more. He has cut and styled it both long and short for me, adding depth and evening out my super thick hair to make it shape and flow seamlessly. He also cuts it in a way so that when it grows out, it still looks perfectly shaped - for at least 3-4 months depending on how short it is (if it's longer, I can easily go 6+ months with how well he cuts.) And just as importantly, we get to talk God! For me, he is like a mentor and friend. He supports me when I share my hurts and cheers me on when I share my joys. And he always brings me and our conversations back to God. I feel renewed and powerful after our "sessions". I had an awful experience there. I went there for a pixie hair cut because based on yelp, there are supposed to be pretty good. But it doesn't worth the try because Eric behavior is so annoying. Keep reading for the story: I got there on time and I couldn't find where should I park my car (later he told me that he forgot to send me the instruction about where to park the car) so I called him several times to ask where should I park my car. He didn't pick up so I kept looking through the streets nearby to find a spot. He called me after ~6,7 mins and he told me where to park and he said he forgot to send me the text regarding that. That was ok, I thought. I went to the parking spot that he said and got to the salon 15mins after my original reservation. He said that because I was late, he's not gonna do the styling for my hair and he will do just the hair cut. Here's out conversation: -me: but isn't the styling already included in the haircut package? -Eric: yes, but you are late. -me: but you forgot to send me the text and you didn't pick up when I called to ask. Eric took a pause and said l: sorry I can't do your haircut today! I said ok and I walked out of the store. Cause at that point I figured that was a dead end conversation. The first time Eric cut my hair, I loved it. It was easy to style at home. My hair is course and curly in spots and straight in other places. I could easily blow dry it straight and it had bounce and style. I went back for a trim and am so disappointed. I felt like I was an inconvenience just being there and then my cut took 15 minutes. It's too short to blow dry the way I like to, it wants to curl. It's too thick for the length. Not only was the experience not fun but I no longer really have a style. It just lays there.
