Eric and his crew are easily one of the best home remodeling contractors out there. They did really good work when they remodeled our entire 3rd floor (2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom). Price is competitive but still reasonable. What we like the most is they would give us suggestions and other options. So it's not just you telling them what you want, but if they have better ideas, they are not hesitant to tell you what will work better for the space. We would definitely hire them again for future work and already recommended them to our family and friends. read more

We are very pleased with the end result of our bathroom project provided by Eric Construction. Eric himself immediately took interest in our project and ideas at our first meeting, and was the only bidder that asked to see both the attic and basement to make sure he could do the necessary work for the price he quoted us. Eric was always accessible by phone and would promptly accommodate our questions, concerns, and timeframes for different phases of the project. He and his crew of two other workers were very courteous and industrious; they arrived on time each morning and worked hard all day. As far as workmanship, Eric would briefly review with us the work he expected to take place at the beginning of each day, as well as point out what was finished the previous day. He fully understands Chicago municipal code (and I presume suburban codes as well) for the plumbing and electric and built accordingly. We are especially pleased with how well the tile was laid out and grouted. In terms of price, he offered the most competitive bid of which we felt was very reasonable for the work we were asking for. Eric also kept all store receipts for materials which he made available to us. Overall, Eric and crew demonstrated experience and proficiency in their craftsmanship, they stuck to the original labor quote, were prompt, respectful, and always eager to get to work and finish the job. If you're looking for a contractor for any sort of remodeling project, I cannot recommend Eric highly enough. From the initial estimate until the job was completed Eric and his crew were utter professionals. I am not experienced with construction and needed some tile work and other renovations done on my bathroom. Eric came out after hours to do an estimate, explained what would need to be done, made great suggestions and recommendations and explained what kind of materials (tile) I should get. Once he and his crew started working on the project they were punctual every morning, friendly and courteous, put down drop cloths and paper to keep my place as clean as possible and I had no reservations about having them work alone while I was away at work. Eric was easy to reach by phone or email during the entire process and kept me confident that the job will be done right. It was almost like having your uncle helping you out, not just some stranger that you hired. They even painted the bathroom which was badly needed but I thought I would need to do myself! We found Eric here on Yelp and were instantly impressed by all of the very positive reviews from his clients. We were looking for a contractor to remodel our master bathroom and were a little skeptical after hearing horror stories from friends and others about their experiences with other contractors - shotty craftsmanship, not showing up, uncontrolled costs, etc. We set up a meeting with Eric to discuss our plans for the remodel and quickly saw what we would continue to see throughout our remodel. He was punctual, very personable, and immediately began offering his ideas and solutions. His estimate was also much less than other estimates we received. He was a little hard to understand and we were a little concerned that he was too easy-going. I'm an engineer and just a little detailed - something that probably made the job harder for him :) But our concerns were short-lived. Taking a little extra time to talk with him showed us that he clearly had experience in construction, especially bathrooms. He was always courteous and always worked to make us happy. He certainly knows what customer service is all about. The bathroom turned out fantastic. He and his guys, Jacob and RJ, did an incredible job. You can really tell in the details just how good their craftmanship really is. As in any remodel, we did encounter some surprises, and Eric always communicated with us on the best solutions. He and his guys were here every day, on-time, and worked all day. Any delays were caused by us and materials not being ready. Note - he works very quickly, so make sure you have all of your materials ready such as tile, fixtures, etc. I would definitely recommend Eric Construction for home remodel projects. After hearing his story on coming to this country and starting his own company, it is refreshing to see that honesty, hard-work, craftmanship, and good customer service are still out there. Professional, start to finish. Found Eric on Yelp, and brought him in for a quote on doing a complete remodel of our bathroom. When he saw our bathroom, he immediately gave us ideas for major pieces and smaller touches that we hadn't considered, and had pictures on his phone of everything he was recommending. His quote came in well below the others we had received, so we decided to give him the green light. Eric was booked up pretty solid, so we only had a small window of a week with which to schedule the work before he would be delayed for another two months. He and his crew came on time every day, and covered our apartment completely in plastic to prevent dust buildup. He offered to purchase most of our materials, although my wife and I took care of most of that. They finished on time, with only one minor snafu - while his crew was bringing our new bathtub up the stairs, it fell out of its box and chipped. That set us back a few days, but accidents happen. The bathroom ended up looking at least as good as we had had hoped, and Eric even repainted it for free. His tile guy, in particular, did excellent work. Ok, we ended up not using Eric because he didn't have the right kind of insurance our condo required, and I was really disappointed. He came out for an estimate and just seemed like a really calm, caring guy who listened to what we wanted (a bathtub retile and additional estimates), patiently answered all my questions and gave us a very fair quote. Based on my interaction with him during the estimate, I'd recommend him, though I didn't actually have any work completed. I would have hired him if I could have. We had been wanting to remodel our master bathroom for a while. We had a few contractors come by to give us some ideas and quotes on how much the work would cost. We found everyone on Yelp. When Eric came to check things out, he quickly gave us a quote and said "Easy Peasy." That's the moment we decided we wanted to work with him. That, and the fact that he was on the lower end of all of the quotes we had received. He was very easy to work with. He doesn't know the word "no" nor does he ever say "can't do it" If you want it, he'll find a way to do it for you. Not only that, he will try to do it for you at the best price. He picked up all the tile and any extra material so that we wouldn't have to. Him and his team got things done quickly. They finished the job when they said they would. Everything turned out beautifully. We couldn't ask for better. After they finished they told us to use everything to make sure it was to our satisfaction. A few days after they had finished we noticed there was a leak downstairs right around where the new toilet was installed. We called Eric immediately. He came as soon as he could and by process of elimination (so, before he had to take the most drastic measure which was to cut a hole in the ceiling) he figured out what the issue was. He did have to make a hole in the ceiling but it turned out to be a bad pipe and not an issue with the toilet installation. He fixed the pipe and patched up the ceiling - no charge. Side note: One day we noticed that all of the lights in one of our rooms had gone out. It wasn't the light bulbs, we thought we needed an electrician. We asked Eric if he knew of someone he could recommend but he asked if he could take a look at it. He took the light switch apart and figured out that it was just a new switch that was needed. He went out and got one for us and installed it no questions asked. He only charged for the actual switch. We are very happy with the work that Eric Construction did for us and we will be calling him back for our future projects. read more

We have had our fair share of negative experiences with contractors in Chicago- People over charging and doing shotty work. However Eric is the complete opposite of this. I had Eric come and give us an estimate on a DIY bathroom project that we had ran out of time and effort for. His quote for the job was FAR and above more affordable than any of the other three estimates we received. He was on time every day, and was curtious of dirt and dust, putting down drop cloths throughout the house. He made great and affordable suggestions that we did not think of that really improved the overall look of our bathroom, including the use of granite for the shower seat and other trim, and also adding trim work around the main window, which looked great! Our house is 75 years old and Eric Construction did a great job at workmanship and materials to completely remodeling our old bathroom, beginning with totally gutting our old bathroom and all it's very old plumbing. He took out the walls, floor, ceiling, old piping, old tile ans electrical. Now we have a very modern, very attractive bathroom, at a reasonable cost. We really like Eric Construction because they do all the work in house, everything from demoliton, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, tile work, and even waste removal. And Eric doesn't pull bait and switch. He sticks to his quote. Eric also did a great job at repairing the old plumbing on our kitchen sink, putting in a triple trap, with one a easy cleaning trap. He also put in a easy reach trap for out bathroom tub. This company is a gem with a ton of experience at ttackling difficult jobs like out house. The people at Eric Construction just finished remodeling my condo bathrooms and kitchen. They did a spectacular job, and I could not be more pleased with the quality of workmanship and attention to detail. They showed up every day at 8:00 a.m. until the job was done - no coming and going to work on other projects. The project took only about 2 1/2 weeks, They were also very reasonably priced given the location, and the amount and complexity of the work - including fixing some very serious plumbing and electrical.problems that were not evident when they gave me the estimate. Eric did work at my condo more than a year ago and things still look new and nice. When he left, he told me that he's giving a "warranty" and that I could call him if anything breaks. Recently my bathroom faucet broke so I texted him about it, and also some other things around the house which need fixing. He came the following weekend, on time, and even took a trip to Home Depot to get a new cartridge for my faucet. In term of pricing, I would say Eric gave the best quote among the 4-5contractors I talked to before taking Eric. Honestly the first time he showed up, empty-handed, with only a measuring tape in his back pocket, i was a little hesitant. He looked at my kitchen and toilets and we discussed without him taking any notes. I thought he was not interested because he did not do any measuring not took down any notes. However after he left, he provided a very good quote and i decided to go ahead with him. Eric's work is very flexible and he will try to install anything according to your wishes, as long as it's possible. He works hard and will help will small things like touch up etc. without charging extra. You do need remember yourself things which need to be done (ordering materials etc.) and keep tabs on that. All in all, he did a good job with the place and I received plenty of compliments. I recommended him to a friend and they loved his work too. read more

We are very happy with our master bathroom renovation completed by Eric and his crew. They were easy to work with and provided good recommendations to help us achieve the design we wanted. The only problem we encountered was the crew underestimated the amount of tile needed for the project and we were unable to get more of the tile once they realized they needed more. Eric did a complete teardown and remodel of my kitchen and bath in early 2012. In short, he and his crew did a great job for a great price, and I recommend him in the strongest possible terms. Skill: Eric is generally a fun guy to talk to and is amazingly resourceful. Things that other contractors said couldn't be done (or at least not for anything close to a reasonable price), Eric found a way to do. Let me add that I'm a professional engineer, and as far as I could tell, Eric knew the building/plumbing/electrical codes pretty well and all his work was done to high standards. He also wasn't afraid to tell me when the design seemed stupid to him, and, in hindsight, he was right on every count. Billing: I bought the major items myself, but Eric's billing for construction parts and supplies was always reasonable and honest (he gave me the receipts). Payments were by check, with part of the cost upfront and further installments as the work progressed. Our agreements on cost were generally all verbal, and Eric stuck to them despite shifting requirements. Communication: Be aware that his only weak point is his English skills, which are sometimes lacking. It wasn't a big deal for me, and once you get used to his style, communication isn't really a problem. If you need a completely fluent English speaker, though, look elsewhere. Interaction: As I said above, Eric was an easy guy to talk to, ignoring language issues. He made suggestions that improved my plans, and was pretty accurate in his estimates for time and cost. As the remodel progressed (this was a several-month job), I came up with some extra work I wanted beyond the original agreement, and he was flexible and nice enough to add it in at little or no cost. Eric and his guys were great. He came out the day after I called (on a sunday) and gave me an estimate for two small projects we needed done around the house. My husband and I wanted to get the materials ourselves and Eric gave suggestions on where and what to purchase for the projects. His guys showed up two days later as scheduled to start the projects. We had them tear tile off of a kitchen wall and backsplash, replace the backsplash, hang new drywall and paint the entire kitchen. We had our bathroom remodel done by Eric last fall. (Sorry the review is so late Eric!) We had previously used a different company for our other bathroom and had a terrible experience, needless to say we would absolutely recommend Eric to anyone. They did an amazing job on the bathroom, were very timely and efficient, communicated very well and had the best quote for the job. Eric also had some contacts for the shower door and counters and we were able to save money this way. He also helped us get our wood floor patched in a different area of the house for much less than we were previously quoted. I'm very impressed with the work that Eric Construction did in my bathroom. I recently purchased a condo and the tub and tile were a mess. The tub wasn't even a standard size. The space for the tub was about 4 foot plus inches whereas a standard tub is 5 ft. Plus, the bath stop that would allow someone to take a bath was broken, not just disconnected but completely broken. Eric came, assessed the job, and made excellent recommendations. Rather than ordering a really expensive custom tub, Eric Construction just adjusted the space so that a standard tub from the local hardware store would fit. They also did the plumbing work to fix the bath stop, retiled the bath, and changed all of the cheap bath fixtures that I had. The result is absolutely gorgeous. These guys really know what they are doing and you can rest assured that they will confidently, skillfully, and efficiently complete your job, even if there are aspects of your particular project that would make it nonstandard. Eric even added a custom shelf in the shower for free that really adds to the overall look of the whole space...I can't believe the improvement! read more

Eric will be the first contractor we go to when our house needs any work in the future. Our house is big and old, with needs of repair almost everywhere from kitchen to basement, from gutter to chimney. A full house remodel is tough. We learned it a harder way by starting with another contractor who apparently didn't know what he was doing. We knew he was bad but didn't realize how bad until we switched to Eric Construction. After the whole summer being wasted by our previous contractor, let alone wasted materials and damages found later, we became extremely cautious, interviewed a bunch of contractors, and picked Eric eventually. We picked Eric because we found him be able to come to solutions to many of the challenges our old house is facing. We guess that's one of the reasons that our previous contractor didn't show up for weeks after the easy parts were done (poorly) - he didn't know what to do with the difficult parts. Eric came up with detailed pictures in his camera of pieces he did before, and explained to us how he would solve each problem. These pictures themselves answered many of our questions over a variety of difficulties our house has. Those are convincing and powerful. After Eric started, as I said, we learned how bad our previous contractor was, as we see the beauty of tiles, stones, wood, lines and shape all come together, neat, clean, and professionally done. Our previous contractor almost fooled us of thinking that those neat and detailed pictures on magazines only stay on magazines! What a difference! Eric and his assistants had been busy, as we assume the great contractors should be. But they managed their time very well, came in a good portion of each week, worked the whole days, lined their work in a logical way, while addressing different parts of the house simultaneously, and made big progress every week. I previously phoned one of the best plumbing companies in the city, and I was disappointed that the plumber would not tear into the leaky shower wall. This is were Eric came into the situation. He took on the project, arrived on time, did very nice work, charged a fair price, and left me a happy customer. He broke down our entire remodeling project for us, and was honest with us on the timing as well. We had many people tell us what we wanted to hear, but Eric said I will always overestimate on time. We had 3 bathroom gut remodel's and other various work though out the home that was to be done. Eric and his team are some of the best construction guys in the business. I hired Eric to do a difficult job - tile a bathroom floor with tiles that are meant for a wall. The tiles were handmade, from Mexico, uneven and not exactly flat or all the same size. On top of that - there was a pattern that had to be followed. I thought i had laid it out perfectly, but when he did it he immediately realized the pattern wasn't going to fit, and we were able to redo it right there on the spot. The job took two days and although I never did get used to his accent, and was constantly "huh?" (poor guy) the end result was beautiful and I am totally happy with it. They were always on time, charged me exactly what they quoted (well, a little more, because they had to come back a third day to finish) (nevertheless, it was a totally fair price), and were 90% clean and neat with everything. I was really worried about them not making the proper allowances for the type of tile, but they knew exactly what to do and how to do it. read more

I knew within 5 minutes after meeting Eric that I would use him for my kitchen remodel, without even knowing his offering price. I live in a 100-year old condo building in the city, and it was evident to me that his thought process on how he would approach the project put him in a different league than the other contractors I had come out. He examined my kitchen and its existing structure in a way to maximize the durability and safety of my home, and didn't make unnecessary suggestions to make additional money, like many contractors seem to do. The other contractors I interviewed didn't ask those important questions and didn't have the same mindset as Eric. Also, I sensed Eric would be very reasonable from a price perspective, which he was (he was actually 1/2 the cost of the Home Depot installer). He and his co-worker were quick, came everyday, and the attention to detail was a clear indication in the pride Eric takes in his work. He made suggestions that proved to be the difference between an average kitchen and a great one, to me. He does the job the way it should be done. I can't say enough about him. Just ask him to show you the work he has done (he keeps the images on his phone) and I'm confident you'll agree with my assessment. We recently had two large bathrooms renovated by Eric and his team. They did an outstanding job for a major overhaul in our bathrooms that took approximately 5 weeks to complete. Eric's prices were also very reasonable compared to other renovators I received quotes from. Eric is the real deal and look no further!! We purchased all of the marble tiles and accessories ourselves. Eric was willing to assist in helping us out with this but if paying all this money for accessories I recommend you do it yourself. Eric also gave us a lot of tips as he knows his stuff having been in the business for quite some time. Eric is also into the details and takes pride of his work so you will not be disappointed. As you can tell from all the other Yelp reviews he is legitimate and I would highly recommend him to anyone.
