Yet while thumbing I ran across Eren's on 1800 NW86th Street in Clive. It's in a small strip mall with minimum parking. Walking into the place you have an oasis of amenities to choose from gel, dipping powder, acrylic and regular manicure options. What was surprising is an Oxygen Bar where you breathe in different herbal shooters with sassy names reviver,invigorating,rejuvenator, and oxygen blast. Along with your choices of nail offerings you could choose the extra enhancements such as gel-x (new), Swarovski, glow in the dark,chrome nails, 3D Design and much much more. The uniqueness about this shop is that the owner is from Mexico City and loves to do art design. I have never in my fifty years in getting the latest in nail services been in a nail shop with so many trendy nail enhancements except in large cities such as Dallas. There are so many enhancements to select which are rare in the Des Moines Area. The prices are average from $17 for regular manicure and up to $55 depending on you selection. I have gone to the same nail tech for 10 years, she moved out of town and referred me to Eren's due to the type of design work I like. I went to Eren's a total of 4 times. My first experience was ok, although I specifically asked for acrylic and Eren did everything in her power to convince me to do gel x extensions. I will say they lasted about 4 weeks and were pretty durable. However they were VERY overpriced (I paid $200 +tip for work I could have gotten done for $145 elsewhere) My second experience I called and requested an appointment with Eren. The appointment was confirmed and I was told to come in at 10am. I came in to see Eren already had someone in her chair she was working on. She put me off on someone else in the shop, which I felt was very unprofessional. She should have made it known she wasn't available at that time and I would have made other arrangements. But instead to secure my money... she booked me knowing she wasn't available. Now, for the fourth and final experience.... Right before the Christmas holiday I made an appointment with Eren. When I called to schedule Eren stated that I would need to pay a $30 deposit to secure my appointment via Venmo. Now keep in mind... I had NEVER missed or been late to an appointment, I pay VERY well and tip. She stated it was something they just started for the holidays and that it would go towards the final price of my nails. I rolled with it. I went in for my appointment, the shop had other customers in it and I watched every one of them check out... no mention of the deposit. The phone rang a few times with other people wanting to schedule.... She never asked for a deposit. So... when I went to check out, just my nails, no pedi she charged me $140 and she didn't mention the deposit. (Now maybe it's just me, but if this is something you've been doing consistently.... I shouldn't have to remind you. But I did remind her.... She looked at me for a second, I pulled out my Venmo and showed her and she said, "oh yea, I forgot". I already ran your card for the full amount. She ended up having to give me $30 in cash. Design wise, Eren and most of her team have the capability of doing some good work. However, she caters to the Latin community (which is fine) but don't price gouge, especially a good paying, could have been a loyal customer. That's not good business. By the way.... I've been getting my nails done for over 20 years. I know I like some pretty "extra" designs and don't mind paying at all. Like I said, I went to the same nail tech for 10 years. Now, I just fly every few weeks to get my nails done from my previous nail tech. It's inconvenient, but I'd rather do that than be price gouged and feel discriminated against. read more

I wanted my nails done and this salon popped up on my Facebook page so I thought I would give it a try. I called and was able to get a last minute appointment with Eren. I had some pictures from Pinterest and showed it to her and we decided on a pink chrome look. I settled into a station and was promptly offered a glass of wine which I accepted. I was pleased to see that Eren had plastic clips to soak off my previous dip mani instead of wrapping my fingers in foil. I was initially pleased to see no dremel use to take off my previous color however after the color was removed she used it on my naked nail and more than once burned me. After making a comment I had hoped she would have made adjustments but she didn't. My nail design was on point and the execution was pretty awesome. The only issue we had were 2 nails wouldn't set and kept bubbling up but this wasn't Eren's fault. I think it was just a fluke. During my appointment multiple other people came in and also liked my design. This was nice to hear but they crowded around me, would leave and come back to look. I enjoy getting my nails done and like to relax and don't like to have my personal space invaded. In addition to this they were talking in Spanish about me to each other and to Eren. I assume it was nice and just about my nails but who knows. When my nails were done I was pretty happy, however my nail that had the glitter she didn't put a top coat on and this was really annoying as it would catch in my hair. Also she didn't make sure my nails were the same length and I know most people wouldn't notice, but I did and it really bothered me. After having my nails were done I was hit with a nasty price shock, $65!!!!! For what I had done at my regular salon I would have paid $45. After a few days the pink chrome started to chip around the edges and this annoyed me but most people didn't notice. I went back and forth between 3-4 stars. The reason I choose 3 stars are below: 1. Burning my nails with the dremel. This hurt. 2. No clear coat over the glitter nails. 3. Uneven nail length on 4 nails 4. Eren not asking other customers to back away and allow me to enjoy my me time. 5. Price for service. 6. Hold up of final product. It shouldn't be chipping away after a few days. I would probably go back but not get the chrome. read more

It says by appointment only, but they make it almost impossible to make an appointment. I called twice and nobody answered the phone, I got an answering machine that stated "leave a message and we will call you back" while I left a message and nobody called me back. I have heard both a mix of good and bad reviews about this place and wanted to give it a try and see for myself, but I guess I never will get the chance to if nobody allows me to book an appointment. read more
